Randomly at least 2x a day, the wi-fi loses connectivity. At the same time, the ethernet connection works as expected. I then have to restart the modem to restore wi-fi connectivity. Is there a setting that must be enabled to provide normal speeds through the 2.5g port? I’m unable to connect to the internet via the 2.5g port on the back of my G36 with more than minimal (under 1mbps) speeds. I have Xfinity Gigabit (1.2Gbps) and with the 1g ports I can routinely get ~1Gbps with a wired connection. When I plug the same patch cable (both Cat5e and Cat6) into the 2.5g port, there is no signal to my office 4-port switch, and almost no connection speed to my laptop 4ft. away from the gateway. Am I wrong in thinking that 2.5g port should operate the same, and better, than the other four ports?

Let me start with - I’m basically computer challenged, however I did manage to set up my G36 using the tools provided. Now I’m trying to set up my ancient HP Officejet 4630 and have spent about 2 hours so far. It will not connect. I printed the troubleshooting page and it indicated that “MAC address filtering may be enabled on your wireless router, which can prevent your HP printer from connecting...during setup.”. I went in to the Surfboard website and manually entered the MAC address (under custom) for the printer and clicked enable. Still no luck. I’m hesitant to try clicking or changing anything else until I get someone with knowledge that can walk me through it. Thanks!
I just upgraded my old SBG modem/router to the new G36 dual band modem/router. I had no issues setting up connections. My desktop is connected by cable, and all my other devices are connected by wifi, but win10 on my desktop can no longer see the devices on my wifi network like it did on my old modem such as my T.V. , so I cannot cast videos and such to my T.V. I have reset router, checked all settings, checked file sharing settings in win10, but win10 still does not see devices on wifi network. Anyone have an idea what is wrong?
So I have Xfinity’s 1.2 gigabit internet plan and instead of leasing their gateway, I bought the Arris G36. When testing the speed of my internet on ethernet I get around 500 Mbps which doesn’t make sense. I had the same plan at my old house with the Xfinity gateway modem and got 900 Mbps. Now when I am downloading a simple 5GB file it takes 2 hours to download. It isn’t my Lan cable because I have brand new cables. Would anybody know what my problem is.
I recently got the G36 because Xfinity router WiFi was cutting out intermittently. I set it up, and over ethernet my download speed is 620 Mbps. which isn’t the best but I’m okay with that. However, my upload speed is only 5 Mbps, when I should be getting between 30 - 40 Mbps.Is there anything that I can do to improve my upload speed?
I recently had a problem start with one of my Roku devices dropping the wifi connection. A user on their community forum said this problem can occur if the router was connecting using 802.11 g/n instead of 802.11 b/g/n.Does anyone know if the G36 is configured to use 802.11 b/g/n on the 2.4GHz band?
How do I add a second Wifi Router to my existing G36 Modem/Router. I have a large house. I upgraded my modem to the Arris G36. My prior modem did not have wifi so I have my old Asus Wifi router that I am trying to connect but when I connect to it it says I do not have internet access. I tried adjusting the Firewall but that has not made a difference. Do I connect the modem to my LAN or WAN ports of the second Wifi router. Do I need to change any settings? ThanksKen
I attempted to register the SN of my new G36 today online, I made several attempts and got a message that the SN from the box and the device don’t match the product. I called their help line and the man said that he will register the device. I have had this modem for about 2 weeks and the wifi in the house is fine but I also have 3 ethernet connections in different rooms that have worked flawlessly with my TIVOs since I moved into this house almost 9 years ago. Now, the ethernet connections are not working. The modem did not come with setup instructions and I’m not sure which I should have plugged into the 2.5GB port on the modem, should I have the wifi or the ethernet that come from the wall? I would love to get my ethernet ports working again. This has been a horrible transition to the new modem. Arris says the G36 is the top of the line, my opinion, it’s a pain in the neck!
Hello Community, I just recently purchase a G36, because i like to have the lastest hardware available from Arris, when i purchase the G36, i do notice that were another device called G34 that is basically identical, which is the main differences in between these two G-s devices?
