Why can't I sign into a non-broadcasting 5GHz?
Is there a situation where signing into a non-broadcasting 5Ghz G36 is not possible? I have my 5GHz access not broadcasting. However, choosing “Other” Wifi in MacOS Ventura and entering the 5GHz SSID information and obtaining a connection has never been a problem until lately. Lately, I have to set the 5GHz to broadcast to sign in. If I revert back to non-broadcast, I then can't sign in. Any insight will be appreciated.
MAC Filtering stops working and screen won't populate...why?
MAC filtering screen will not populate. After I have successfully set this feature up, a few days later the screen wont populate and the settings no longer work. The screen stays stuck at “This may take several minutes...” I have to restore default gateway and set it up again only for the screen to eventually not populate and stop working! Rinse and Repeat! Why is this happening?
G36 and Xfinity Event Logs - DHCPv6 - Missing Required Option 24 [Critical]
So, I might have solved some of my incompatibility with the Xfinity network by turning off the SIP option in the Advanced > ALG Settings, but I still get the once a day or so disconnect but only drops for a short time then recovers. internet stability issues
I have xfinity, i pay for gigabit speeds 1gig download,50 upload, i run two xbox consoles on it for my household both are hard wired running off a arris g36, ive looked into singal streath for up and downstreams and when i check they appear to be within the ranges thays recommended from forum posts i dont know what to do
g36 and Xfinity connection drops daily
I have to reboot router almost every day. This is unacceptable level of maintenance for a $300 router. Will Arris ever address this issue ? I’m thinking of going back to my old router since honestly there’s no discernible difference in performance. Is there a fox for this? I’ve changed the channel to manual and that helped. I might get two days. Please help.
I have the G36 and just bought it a few months ago for my xfininity internet service and have had dropped internet for what seems like day 1. The other day, I upgraded my ethernet cables and coax cable thinking that would fix the issue. I have a internet plan that gives me 1000 mbps of download, 20 mbps up. I know I future proofed myself with this model so what I have is plenty. The only thing left to do was call Xfinity. I spoke to a rep who ran a test on my cable modem/router and said my modem received no issues getting the internet and that I needed to reach out to Arris for a firmware update. Is there anything else I can do first before giving support a call?
G36 loses primary home password weekly.
About once a week, my G36 resets the Primary Home wifi password to a 12 digit number.The admin, secondary home, and guest passwords, as well as all other settings do not change. Only the Primary Home wifi password changes.What could be causing this and/or what can I do to help track down the culprit?
wifi connected but not loading anything
Hi, I have the g36 Arris gateway, I upgraded from a Netgear nighthawk and only did so because our speeds where dropping when we had 4 or more people gaming at once via Ethernet and we where also paying Xfinity for 1gbps and the nighthawk was only capable of 600 mbs. So long story short we upgraded a few weeks ago everything was great for about 4 days and than randomly the wifi through the whole house would just drop but upon further investigation our devices are still connected to the wifi network but it's just not loading anything it doesn't even say "connected but can't connect to internet" like it usually does. For reference the wired Ethernet connections still work fine. The only fix that's worked is to power cycle the gateway which fixes it but after a day or two it happens again. Not a huge issue but extremely annoying seeing as we don't have great service where we live and wifi calling is pretty important for work and family emergencies. I'm thinking about just going back to the
G36 drops connection every 24 hours or so on Xfinity.
I have a 800GB plan with Xfinity but using the 2.5GB port. could this cause Xfinity to drop my connection? The modem never comes back online until I reboot it manually. I tried Windows Trouble Shooting and ipconfig /renew etc to see if I could get it back online without a reboot but nope. Im guessing with all the others having the same issue, its faulty firmware being pushed from Xfinity ???How do I report this so a Surfboard technician can look into this issue before I end up just going with a different brand? Could changing anything in the LAN Ethernet Ports help. they are all set to Auto Configuration.

My Firefox version is 108.0.1 Both of these are well beyond the minimum required version, why is it telling me this?
WebGUI Login Credentials Doesn't Show in App
I’m trying to login to the web GUI but in the app it doesn’t show the credentials. I shows the this screeAny idea how I can get the credentials?I’m also having a problem where devices stop connecting to 5G until rebooting the Gateway.Thanks in advance.Eric
How can I ensure G36 always has the same WAN IP forever?
Am I correct in assuming that my G36 assigns the WAN IP? I think my G36 changed the WAN IP when I reset to factory defaults. Is there a way to keep the same WAN IP? If I edit and manually enter the WAN IP will it work? I have other devices on the network that are dependent on the WAN IP. So, I want it to stay the same.
Was my router hacked?
Yesterday morning, I found my devices logged out of my G36 gateway and my Amazon Echo informed me that the password had been changed. I unplugged the gateway and went to work; it remains unplugged. I don’t know what to do next. Was I hacked? Is it safe to plug the router back in?
Trying to Understand the ARRIS G36 Event Log IDs
When reading the event logs for the Arris Gateway G36 what is the event ID for a system reboot or stop/restart? I just want to better understand when or how often my gateway is restarted whether if I initiate the restart myself or if my ISP initiated it.
G36 connectivity issues overnight after recent Xfinity network line upgrades
Good evening, I’m trying to get to the bottom of whether or not Xfinity did something to the lines in my area as part of a recent “network enhancement” that is now causing the Arris CMTS to put my modem via a profile config update on bad channels multiple times a week overnight the last couple weeks. When this occurs, I wake up to it and the download speed is virtually non existent. It isn’t until I power cycle the device and it puts it back on presumably fine/clear channels that everything returns to normal.As far as timeline, the CMTS wasn’t making these dynamic profile update changes to these presumably bad channels until after Xfinity did “network enhancement” line work back on 4/10 and follow up work on 4/14. Almost immediately after the 4/14 work, that night is when I started seeing the issues with my modem the next morning on 4/15. Since then, the CMTS has been putting me on bad channels 4 times now, overnight, between 1AM and 7AM EST, most recently last night. It’s happened on
g36 parental controls cant login gui or app
so i turned on parental controls on my phone bc someone didnt want to go to bed and now my g36 wont reach or load the login web gui or the app. i turned it back off using my laptop bc it was the only way to access the settings. surprised it actually loaded it. hope i dont have to reset my router its a pima typing in all the keywords and websites to keep the certain ones off unwanted sites. what went wrong..? ive done this before and have had no issues. ive tried power cycling my phone and router for 10 minutes cleared history and cookies. when i got the laptop to login i made sure the settings are turned off. so i should be able to browse freely like a new installation but it still wont load the web gui on my phone. can someone chime in and help a fella figure this out. much thanks in advance!
hooking up printer to router
My HP OfficeJet, pro 8600 is having trouble connecting to my new arris router. The printer says to check if MAC address filtering is enabled I don’t remember setting that up all of my more modern devices have no trouble connecting to the router. Can I get some help in connecting the printer to my new router?
ethernet working, wifi wont
I'm pretty tech savvy but I can't seem to solve it. Modem is powered, internet coming in, neither of those seem to be the issue. The ethernet cables are working, anything connected to them has internet. But the wifi won't allow any connection. They, the 2.5 and 5, both appear under default names, passwords established in surfboard app won't work. Every time I go into the app they appear under default names, then I expand settings and the name that I assigned to them appears then disappears once I collapse it. I have reset the modem by unplugging it from both ends a few times, using the reset button, even using the app. Nothing is working. My phone can connect to the wifi but there's no internet. My security cams and other devices won't even recognize the default names or accept the passwords
