G34 | G36

When I was setting up my router on my mobile phone, I was given a “device password”. I will not be able to memorize that password and want to change it. It is not really safe to write it down and keep it on a note. How can I change it? I’m not even really sure what it is for! My mobile? It’s not for my Surfboard, I changed that name and password, so what exactly is it for and how do I change it to something I don’t need to write down/can’t memorize?

Keep losing internet but stays connected to tower. My internet provider showed Arris's issue and loaned me their equipment.  Got warranty replacement from Arris SAME ISSUE!  Phone support is not answering 7:30 Pm CST, when try chat keeps saying sn is incorrect and I am typing from the sticker on bottom.  WTH?

I am trying to get new xFinity service using a new DOCSIS 3.1 Arris G36 gateway.  The activation process with the xFinity app stalls and eventually times out at the ‘testing connections’. In the modem WAN status, all phases prior to ‘Registration’ are marked ‘Complete’ with Registration usually marked ‘Not Started’.  Of particular note, the phase immediately prior to registration, ‘Configuration’ is marked ‘Complete’.In the Event log, I see the following (actual MAC addresses redacted):    Config File Rejected due to invalid or Unexpected TLV 4; CM-MAC=*; CMTS-MAC=*; CM-QOS=1.1; CM-VER=3.1A cursory look for ‘TLV 4’ information suggests this is the part of the configuration where the service provider (xFinity) declares the service level for the connection, in my own words ‘Speeds and quality of service’.   (Editorial note: I don’t consider the Configuration phase ‘Complete’ if the content is being rejected)Anyone hazard a guess wha

I have an Arris router modem combo model G34. I bought a Netgear AC1200 Dual Band Wifi Range Extender model ex6120. I cannot get the extender to connect to my router. After spending an hour on the phone with Netgear they recommended I call you to see if Arris "blocks extension networks?" Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

What is WAN ‘registration’ in Arris G36 parlance when establishing a DOCSIS connection?Using xFinity’s app, I had partial success activating a new G36 at a new service address.  In looking at the WAN status, I have QAM both up and down, and the various categories of activation all say ‘Complete’ except the final ‘Registration’ item which has displayed a couple different statuses depending on when I look.  The xFinity app’s progress always hangs and times out at ‘checking connections”.Further, I wonder if this relates to me closing all the WAN side ports before I ever plugged the thing into xFinity.  Clearly xFinity won’t get no satisfaction if they are trying to ping the router from outside, but its fuzzy how that would result in the router itself never achieving ‘registration’.  TBH, I don’t even know what some of those other ports that default to open are used for, but I wanted to do what I could to prevent xFinity from forcing a firmware update that I cannot live wi

i contacted comcast.net over five times but still dropped and intermittent wifi and slow nowhere close to 800mps which i pay extra

On G36, I have configured my ‘Primary’ subnet’s DHCP server to a pool of 192.168.0.0/24 IPv4 addresses and added IP reservations.  Where in the web GUI do I configure the ‘Secondary’ (192.168.26.0/24) and ‘Guest’ (192.168.28.0/24)  subnets’ DHCP for IPv4 address pool and IP reservations?Is that configuration only accessible by logging in through 192.168.26.1 and 192.169.28.1 respectively? Is logging in through those addresses even a thing?Please note this is not a question about WAN-side (ISP-side) DHCP; its about the router’s built-in DHCP server(s) for LAN-side IPv4  addresses. [

I just purchased and installed a brand new G36 wifi cable modem. It intermittently but frequently drops the internet, both on wired and wireless connections, across a variety of devices. Every 7-8 minutes it drops the internet and then remains without internet for about 1.5-2 minutes before reconnecting.I have gone through the following support pages for a fix, tried every potential solution or spec check listed, and nothing has worked:One Two 

We have an Arris G36 with a router mesh system and our Nvidia shield plugged into it. Both the wifi to the router and the ethernet connection drops 5-10 times a day. I have rebooted it, unplugged it for 5 minutes, reset it. disconnected everything and reconnected. Nothing seems to fix it. 

I have had trouble with the G34 since I bought it. Slow speeds, trouble connecting & tv pixelating. I have 1g and my download is between 500-700 mbps. Xfinity blames Arris, Arris blames Xfinity. I upgraded my service to 2g and a technician came out and verified that’s what I’m getting. I called Arris tech support and was told that 700 was the best I could do. He also told me G34 won’t work on 2g service but the G36 will. Best yet when I asked about the 4g download speed in big orange ad on the front of the box he said that I have 4 ethernet ports 1g for each port. 

I have a new Surfboard G34, and I am wondering how would I remove or block an unwanted device that may be connected to my network? I see the connected device list in Surfboard Connect for iOS. There were other topics here that are currently closed, which stated that I should be able to see a remove option from that device details in that connected device list. But I can only expand the device card to reveal the details, i do not see any option to remove or block. I have also enabled parental controls and I still do not see any option to remove or block an unwanted devices anywhere.

I activated my G36 through Xfinity.I used surboard phone app, it connects failed.I used 192.168.0.1, whats the email and pw I use to login? the one same as my community account?

How do I change my Password and Settings on my (ARRIS) G36 Wi-Fi Cable modem ?  I don't believe I Registered the modem when I purchased it a few yrs. ago.

Just purchased a Arris g34 got hooked up but won't connect my HP printer envy 4500. I have tried everything and ready to go back to my Netgear this is ridiculous 

I upgraded my modem from a sbg8300 and my new modem G34 is slower when it’s supposed to be faster what going on I feel like I spent 200 bucks for nothing do I need to turn something on from the surfboard app to make the WiFi speed faster?? I would like some help if not I’m going return it and go back to my old modem they told me I needed to upgrade since my modem outdated but why my old  modem faster  then the new one doesn’t make sense I’m lagging like crazy with this G34

How do I totally remove the 2nd home Wi-Fi and guest Wi-Fi from G34.  Disabled all of these but Wi-Fi signal still transmitting.

I have a brand new G34 modem/wifi router that’s not even a week old. Worked great for first two days. Now everyday I loose internet connection but I still have a blue light on my modem. I unplug It for a few minutes and then it’ll work again. 

Does the Surfboard G34 allow laptop computers attached via WiFi to utilize the Atmos Agent (i.e. VPN) to create secure connections with host applications?  While other laptop computers also attached via WiFi not running the Atmos agent? Thank you

So, I have a Arris G34 that is approximately a year old and its not broadcasting ssid and ethernet ports not working. Everything was working great till I moved to a new house. I have Cox internet and I am receiving good signal. I can plug cox panoramic in and the internet works just fine. When I reboot or factory reset the G34 the ethernet ports light up while it reboots but then turn off and do not come back on no matter what I have plugged In to them. I cant seem to figure out how to login to the modems web page to check out the setting due to lack of internet.... Any advice/help before I try and do a warrenty claim will be greatly appreciated!

A few hours of searching and all I can find are people wanting me to look at my WAN-side DHCP.  I cannot emphasize enough that I’m asking about configuring the DHCP server functionality within the G36 that hands out IPv4 addresses to LAN client devices.  Nothing whatsoever to do with WAN side IP assignment.Having tried to be excruciatingly clear, I want to know how to configure the IP address pool [and IP reservations] for the so-called ‘Secondary’ and ‘Guest’ subnets. Through the web GUI, I configured DHCP for the ‘Primary’ subnet to be 192.168.0.101 through 192.168.0.200, and now I want to know where in the web interface I would set the address pool for ‘Secondary’ to be 192.168.26.101 through 192.168.26.200, and similarly to set the ‘Guest’ address pool to be 192.168.28.101 through 192.168.28.200.  Presumably, if I find where to do this, I’ll also find the ability to declare IP reservations.I read somewhere not to try logging into 192.168.26.1 or 192.168.28.1 with ‘

I can’t figure out how to connect my G34 to my Netgear Nighthawk EAX20 extender? Any instructions? The nighthawk app can’t find the G34 & the G34 can’t find the Nighthawk. I’ve tried both 5ghz & 2.4 ghz

My G34 router is 2 years old and has worked flawlessly for most of that time.  However over the past two months my internet connection has gone down about 4 times for no apparent reason.  Unplugging and restarting the router fixes the issue but I am concerned this will keep happening and possibly increase.  Do routers wear out?

I purchased the G34 in March 2025.  ISP is Cox w/ 500 mbps download speed and 50 mbps upload speed.  Up until recently, I neared the maximum speed in both directions using an ethernet connection and slightly slower as expected using Wi-Fi.  Over the last few weeks, however, the ethernet upload speed is less than 1 mbps, while the  download speed is near 500 mbps.  (The Wi-Fi speeds are unchanged.)  But when I activate my VPN, the upload speed is ~50 mbps.  I have reset the G34, but the upload speeds remain painfully slow unless thee VPN is activated.  Any thoughts on how to increase the upload speeds when not using the VPN? 

I have gigabit internet but my ethernet download speed is slow.  I have bypassed the splitter and have my Xfinity coax cable connected directly to my Arris G34 Gateway router. When I check over my wireless connection I get 350 Mbps. When I check over my ethernet I get about 200 Mbps.
