Wi-Fi Modems

Over the last couple days, my internet keeps going in and out. I had cox come out and they tested everything on their end and said nothing is wrong. Being that my modem is less than 2 years old, he thought maybe it hasn’t been updating. How can I check on this? 

I’ve been experiencing the same drops others have been for the G36, but additionally I’ve been paying for 1200 mbps, but capping off at 900mbps. I’m connected via ethernet cable, and have done multiple hard resets.After spending an hour on the phone with Xfinity they said that they couldn’t do anything and I should contact the manufacturer to make sure I have the correct settings on the G36. I was wondering if there was some way to check that?(personally I think they were just trying to get me off the phone/avoid refunding me, but wanted to at least have the effort shown for argumentative sake.)

How to change my original WiFi password to new ? 

I purchased this modem/router new online. My intention is/was to disable it as a viable source. Utilizing it as an “access point” to extend my wireless network’s range. Now I need to log into the device, which has proven far more difficult than my Arris NVG443B, even though the 2 of them share the same manual. The ip address of this modem should be 192.168.1.1, possibily 192.168.0.1, according to internet serches. The router itself On the tag “Advanced device configuration”: 192.168.254.254, respectively. Yet none of these will allow a screen to allow logon, user or SSID and finally password. In all cases the IP addresses “time out” due to “took to long” scenarios.I have a tough time thinking this modem came DOA, so has to be some error on my part, I would think.Any ideas? 

I seriously am losing my mind. I already have it on a timer so it reboots every single day, and yet while watching TV, using my phone, tablet, whatever, I get a “no internet” message or nothing loads multiple times a day. I can switch to the 2.4 GHz channel and that works. Sometimes I can get it to work again by turning wifi on and off on the device, sometimes I need to reset the G34. It is not a range thing, this happens when I am right by the G34, it just stops transmitting on the 5GHz channel. What on earth is making this happen?  I have also changed the channels multiple times, it doens’t seem very congested where I am , I don’t think this is the issue.  Firmware versions: 01.05.020.04.01.NCS

All of my login attempts have been rejected. Is there a default password or a way to change it?  

I wanted to stay connected to the internet while turning off the WiFi component. How would I achieve this? Thank you!

I tried logging in. It states use the email in the app. I am doing that. I’m using the password I wrote down. If it is a password issue, how do I reset it? 

I have to reboot router almost every day.  This is unacceptable level of maintenance for a $300 router.  Will Arris ever address this issue ?   I’m thinking of going back to my old router since honestly there’s no discernible difference in performance.  Is there a fox for this?   I’ve changed the channel to manual and that helped.  I might get two days.  Please help.  

I’ve had an SBG6900 cable modem for a few years. Just bought an 8200 and it didn’t work. When trying to connect my old modem back (SBG6900), neither my old password nor the ID key work to get in (it says, need additional information to authenticate). I can’t connect to the application manager because I am not on the network, and my laptop does not have an Ethernet port to connect directly. Does anyone have any thoughts on how to access the Arris portal without being connected to the wireless network? 

I just purchased the G36 DOCSIS 3.1 Wi-fi modem today. I have xfinity as a provider for my service and have a Ethernet cable coming out of the box. Is this unit going to work for me? It looks like it only accepts coax cable connections for connections to the service. 

How do I change the password

I am trying to access the arris gateway. The modem/router is currently in bridge mode. I have a computer connected to the arris with the internet working through an Ethernet connection, but I am unable to access the 192.168.0.1 webpage. The page won’t load on Firefox, chrome or edge. I tried factory resetting the arris device but that did not work. I also tried 192.168.100.1. What am I missing to access the webpage?

I installed a G34 surfboard through the xfinity app.  I can connect to wifi from the modem on my phone using the default credentials.  I need to change the modem name and password.  The app is saying that there is no connection when I try to login.  It says SURFBOARD setting up the mobile application and then says no connection and won’t go further.  How do I fix this?

G54 shows to have firmware AC01.01.015_051923_G5X.04.20.121  trying to get Xfinity to update on their end but they blame Arris saying the file should be here somewhere. This one is on their “enhanced network speeds” list so it should work but I believe the firmware is the holdback. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

At some point last year, something happened to my SBG6700-AC router/modem because I only see 2Ghz Wifi available in a list of wifi networks on my iPhone and PC laptop. I’ve logged in as admin to SBG6700-AC and made sure that both 2Ghz and 5Ghz are enabled and have different WIFI SID names. I’ve also done factory reset on the SBG6700-AC router. I’ve also made sure that WIFI Band Steering is not enabled. Any thoughts how to get 5Ghz working again? I have a new laptop and iPhone 14 so pretty sure that they support 5Ghz wifi.My firmware version is D30GW-EAGLE-1.5.4.0-GA-10-NOSHBoth wireless radio and WMM QoS show enabled for 5Ghz.Cable provider is Time Warner

I cannot find a way to connect my printer it says that I have to add the MAC address to the router to accept it but I can not find where to do that, I see no where to add a device with in the surfboard hub.

It seems like the mods close topics and mark them as solved without vetting. There is never any mention “you may have a defective product” or linking various topics to “there may be a problem”. My G36 loses 5GHz WiFi, Will not accept connections (says bad password) with the correct password, 2.5GbE loses internet connection and loses everyone (wired or wireless) internet. Every one of these issues can be resolved by a reset. There is no patten and the G36 may run for a week or have 2 failures in a day. My G36 is my basement (68degF) and I have a 24V screaming fan blowing into it, so this is ideal for any electronic device. I thought that this may be a faulty product, but good luck trying to get a RMA. +$300 hard lesson if you own this. If you are looking to buy this device, please steer clear of this G36 product or not sure if I would recommend this company.

Is the SBG6900AC compatable with the Surfboard Central app? Can I just tell the app I have an SBG6950 instead? 

I just purchased the Surfboard G36 modem wifi router today January 13,2024, and set it up with my internet provider. it’s working fine. do i have to register it with Arris ? or will i be perfectly fine just as i am ? I ask because i just want to operate it via my internet provider and not have to go through headaches of resolving issues with the manufacturer. 

I have had this modem for a few years. I've had no issues with it ever before. This morning, I suddenly lost internet connection. The modem restarted on its own, and when it came back on, it had no internet connection. The second light, the send/receive light, flashes at a very rapid pace, the internet connection light below it is off completely. It doesn't light up or flash at all. I've done a hard reset on the modem. I've done multiple troubleshooting sessions with Comcast today unplugging everything. At this point I have Comcast coming out tomorrow to look at things. I'm hoping to get some suggestions for what the problem could actually be. I feel like the issue is something with Comcast but I am worried they will just tell me to get a new modem. Thanks for your help!

I'm trying to see if it's possible to limit connections on a Wi-Fi signal per signal? doesn't look like it is but I wonder if anyone knows if I'm missing something

I have Xfinity 1000Gb down and 100Mb Mps up speed package. I get up to 900Mbs+ for download, but never more than 24Mbs upload. Both on an ethernet-wired desktop and a WiFi connected  laptop.Xfinity has reprovisioned and tested my connection.  They suggested I upgrade the firmware. Unit is running AR01.04.028.01.01_040121_724.NCS.20.X2I think Xfinity needs to perform the upgrade, and they said they did. But on rebooting the G36 it didn’t change.  Now they are suggesting get the Xfinity router.Any advice? Fred
