SB8200

We decided to up-grade our service recently yesterday and purchased a new SB8200 from Amazon(shipped and sold from Amazon). In the add it clearly shows compatible with Altice optimum/ Altice Suddenlink.Very shortly after ordering I became aware after reading several post on reddit and other places that there is an issue with the V3 connecting on optimums networks that were previously Suddenlink, as is our area. However from what i also read is it was kind of a game of chance which version you get shipped from Amazon so we let he item ship and hoped for the best. It arrived today and unfortunately it is the V3 model.  I know contacting amazon and trying to explain that i need a v1 or v2 would be an exercise in futility with my only option being return for a refund. However there was a sale going on and we were able to get it for $138 including tax which is a steep discount. I am curious if I reach out to Arris support regarding the version issue they might

For the last couple weeks, the top blue / download light is not lit...internet has been working fine. Sometimes the 2nd blue / send light is lit, sometime it is not...ISP says everything looks normal on their end (strong signal sent / received etc.) I have tried rebooting and same thing. Could the top blue light just be burnt out? Only had this for about a year...

Hi, My fairly new (still under warranty) SB8200 won’t work. When I apply power the power light turns on solid green for about 10sec then the upstream and downstream lights illuminate for <1sec then all three lights turn off for about 2-3sec. Then the green power light comes on and the process starts again. At no point (even if I leave it connected to power etc) does the blue connection search light start finding a signal. The modem never establishes a connection and otherwise doesn’t work. I tried to reset it (10 sec pushing the button) and that doesn’t bring it back to life. While I have the reset button depressed the lights don’t flash but they go right back to the cycle described above after releasing the reset button.  does this mean the modem is dead and needs to be replaced? thanks,Kyle

I have a 300 mps plan. on my 6183 the lights showed green blue blue green. on the SB8200 the light are all green. Am I missing something? How do I get them to go green, blue, blue, green, or use high speed?

I recently purchased an SB8200 off amazon Arris store. It arrived today in an amazon box but the product was in a clear plastic bag. Is this how these are typically shipped? I've  never received equipment like this and it just feels 'off''. Wanted to check if anyone else has received a unit like this. Even the product photos show the product box.  Thanks

I have a SB2000 modem connected directly to my pc, Spectrum sending 1 gig SB2000 only allows 300mpbs is there an update to fix this?

Hey, the modem keeps blinking orange and settings say 100mbps. If I reset it, it will blink green and say 1000mbps for a little while, but then eventually drop again. The cat 6 ethernet is fine. Xfinity says everything is good on their end. The modem is four years old, do you think it's starting to go?

My modem is sending information to the router but not allowing the router to the internet. I have tried this on 3 different routers, all different brands. 

New modem. Power ligh5 comes on, but no internet light comes on at all

I have an Xbox Series X and recently decided to hard wire from my SB8200 to the Xbox.Now it says it can’t connect to DHCP server. I have tried both ports on the modem, I even factory reset my network and still nothing.The Wifi works fine but for some reason the hard wire from the Xbox to modem won’t.What can I do to solve this?

My network shows my previous phone. I want to update the network to my latest phone model. How do I do this?

i am trying to add a  Verizon network extender to my home due to poor cell signal.  It was connected to my modem and will not initialize due to a “LAN/firewall” issue.  I called Verizon, I called my ISP and was advised to check my firewall settings in my modem.  I have no idea how to do this and what to do if I could find the firewall settings.  Any assitance would be appreciated.

We just hooked up teh Arris Surfboard modem. It is set up through our cable company but it is not showing up on the available wifi list.  

Ethernet port never stops blinking, even with no devices connected. Internet is working fine, but there's no way it's normal to flash 24/7. Just installed yesterday 

My SB8200 will no longer power on but it’s under warranty. How do I file a claim and exchange it for a replacement modem? Thank you.  

How do you tell if you have a SB8200 v2 Or V3?This does not workYou can determine if your Arris SB8200 is a V2 or V3 model by checking the tenth digit of the serial number located on the bottom label of the modem, or by looking at the backplate color and ethernet port color.Visual Method:      V3: The backplate will be grey with orange ethernet ports.   V2: The backplate will have green, blue, blue, and then red-ish color with silver ethernet ports.  Mine does not show any of this. The tenth digit is a 6 not 2 or 3Serial Number {edit : personal information} So I guess mine is 1 generationVisualIts not RED its PINK     

To preface I’ve only ever owned an Arris as far as I can remember and actively choose to buy them. Today I was in my living room browsing on my phone and lost internet which I attributed to Optimum because they are awful.I tried power cycling to no avail but notice when I do the lights all turn on simultaneously and stay on? I cannot reset it or cannot tell if anything happens. It won’t let me connect to the internet hard wired or through a router. I went through trouble shooting with Optimum and they saw no errors on their end. I tried a separate modem and 2 routers and they both can reach internet. I have no choice but to believe some reason this router died.Purchased from Best Buy in NY 11/29/23, I believe it’s under warranty but I no longer have the receipt. How should I proceed?

IntroductionFor starters, I live in an apartment complex that only has one ISP available (Cox). I purchased a SB8200 and a TP-Link ARCHER AX20 for the upgrade of service I was getting through cox. Number 1 Red Flag: The mobile app (SURFBoard Central).. I mean what a waste of time. This app serves no purpose other than showing you a email link to download a desktop app named “Fing” like who cares lol.Number 2 Red Flag: Upon reading the user manual, you can see the LED status screens on the front:USER MANUAL​​​​The plan for my internet is set to utilize DOCSIS 3.1, however the LEDs on the front all line up for 3.0. Troubleshooting:Obviously, restarted the modem

I called my provider and the firmware update failed. Is there another way to update the firmware. 

I don’t see Surfboard central app in Location Services to allow Surfboard central app to connect to my iphone

I tried going to the support site and entering my serial number, but it keeps saying “We were unable to locate your serial number”   I’ve only had the modem for a year and a few months. I need a way to contact to get a refund because it is supposed to have a 2 year warranty. I have tried all the trouble shooting tips I could find online. When its plugged in I only have the power light turn on and nothing else.

Just purchased this thing and trying to hook up.  I have internet but can’t navigate or ping 192.168.100.1  I am about to return this 

I’m in a three-way blame-shifting between Cox, Google(Nest router) and Arris. Two days ago we had an electrical power outage.  This apparently damaged my existing Motorola router.  A Cox technician came out and proved to my satisfaction that their network was working.  Working through his modem, I was able to connect my router to it and reach the internet from my computer.  That proved to me that the problem was the router. So I went and bought this Arris SB8200 at Best Buy yesterday and attempted to connect it.  The Arris was connected to the Internet through Cox.  I was able to connect to the Net through an ethernet connection to the modem.  But the modem would not allow the Google Nest to make a connection to the Internet through the modem.I will call tech support as soon as they open, but maybe someone here can help?Is there a way to talk to the modem through IP if I connect a computer to it via internet?

Here is a screenshot of my modem status right now.  What is going on with the OFDM PLC power level and SNR/MER?  Is that normal like my ISP says?  

I lost Internet connection. Unplugged it last night and when I plugged it back in last night all lights rapidly blinking intermittently. Tried reset and it did nothing. Unplugged it Woke up this morning, plugged it in, and now zero lights. Front or back.  About 2 years old and I think it's done?
