SB8200

I’ve been using an SB8200 for several years. I seem to recall a setting specifying the expected speed from the ISP. Comcast recently increased their speed but it seems I’m locked to the previous value (using Speedtest). How do I reset that setting (or am I remembering incorrectly)?

Im In surfboard app.  I called my provider and they registered my product.  The app is now saying please enable WiFi settings and ensure that you are connected to your home network wifi with network connectivity.  I believe I should be. 

Bought Arris Surfboard cable modem SB8200 from Amazon February of 2024. Needed a higher end modem to support the speed and devices we currently run. After installation just recently December 2024, we experienced extreme lagging in our web browsing and gaming. Also, the app to Install is out of date. Only older versions of Android can install it. We hooked up our previous netgear modem again, since it wasn't giving us as much issue as this newer Arris cable modem. I would like to know what the warranty will cover since it is practically never been used and we are not satisfied with the product?

My SB8200 will not connect to docsis 3.1. I have a spectrum gig plan. Spectrum tells me my plan is docsis 3.1but my modem is stuck in docsis 3.0. I don’t see an option how to change the setting in the management page. spectrum is no help and tells me to contact the manufacturer. Any help would be greatly appreciated Also I cannot access the management page while the modem is connected to the net. I can disconnect from the net and access the page. 

I have a SB8200 modem and for no reason at all it drops our internet connection and I have to call for a paid service to walk me through the issue to correct it.  Have my computer connected to the modem and it says everything is working fine but the indicator lights are: power - solid green, Receive - solid blue, Send - solid green and online solid green.  I can access the internet when connected to the modem but my nighthawk router will not connect.  I have logged into the modem manager but don’t see anything out of line there either.  Any ideas on why I need to call for assistance one or twice a year to adjust my settings to allow it to work again? Wifi - Netgear Nighthawk X6S, AC4000 Tri-band, model - R8000P

So, yesterday I purchased a new SB8200 and had Cox activate it. However, while it works all the lights are Green, shouldn’t two of them in the middle be Blue? I’m 80 and not that tech savvy.

I have an Airport Extreme which evidently automatically takes the 192.168.100.1 IP address so I am unable to connect to my SB8200.  Any suggestions? 

Doesn’t DHCP a private address.

Hello, I have a small mesh wifi network comprised of two W12’s (one of which is operating as router connected to the SB8200 via ethernet) and the other which acts a node. My GF just recently got a stay at home job which she got a desktop for and it needs to be connected via ethernet.  When I went to connect the ethernet into the other port initially it wouldn't connect to the desktop. So I rebooted the system to which the ethernet worked but the router wouldn't connect. After hours of trouble shooting I found myself here.  Any recommendation as to how I can hard wire a device to my modem while still allowing my wifi to work? 

Hi, I am trying to set up parental controls. I have a SB8200. I downloaded Surfboard Central, but don’t see the option to create users or set up rules to manage their screen time. Thanks for any help!

My modem won’t stop making a ringing sound when on. This started around a year after first using the modem.

The first light is solid but the second is just flashing. Did the ethernet to the laptop and still no internet, can't even connect to the modem itself. 

Sb8200 second port not working?

The manual instructs me to open a browser & enter an IP address to log in to change the name / password for the modem.  When I do so, I get an error message saying the site can’t be reached.  I’ve tried on 3 different browsers and I get the same error message.  I have the SB8300.

I have an ethernet cable input from my provider (Reliance Connects). How do I connect it to the SB8200 modem?

I had to recently do a complete recovery on one of our laptops. I can't find my security code needed to start my wifi. We bought the Arris in June of this year

I have an sb8200, and it reboots randomly several times a day. The cable company says everything looks good on their side. Is this a sign of a bad modem? I checked all the connections and reset the modem to factory settings,  but even after doing that, it still reboots, kicking us off all our streaming devices.

**** Excuse the SN8200 in the title *****  Moderator can you fix please? **** I had a T25 VOIP modem but dropped VOIP and the T25 was only functioning at maybe 75% of an advertized connection of 500 generally much less maybe 275 or less. This SB8200 doesn’t seem to perform much better or maybe worse from time to time. These are images from a 3 hour fresh Comcast/Xfinity connection and I have used the ‘reset’ depress on it. Channels 33 and 34 interest me. The channels that aren’t in  the image are similar to what’s in those that can be seen. Is it possible to load my VPN to my Arris Modem and route it through a VPN router to cover all devices in my house? If so, are there instructions somewhere to load the VPN to the modem? Are there any special things I need to do in order for this to work? Let me know. ThanksJim 

In the app I get the modem to connect to my internet and then when I try to sign into the app to use it it tells me it lost the connection try again. Many try’s help!

I am aware that there are other firmware related posts but am lost about what to do next.We are Comcast Business internet customers and decided to get our own SB8200v3 modem and WiFi router as the Comcast modem / router combinations didn’t offer the features we needed. The modem however crashes every few weeks, what is a problem when I am not in the office as people struggle to trouble shoot and reboot the modem.I spoke today twice with the Comcast support, both associates claimed that they have no access to my modem, what I however believe is not true.Can somebody direct me to how I can get the firmware checked and updated if possible?I currently have the firmware version ( edited personal information )

I was able to locate how to update my Password, however I would also like to change the user name to something other than simply “admin”.  Where is there a link to accomplish a user name update?

My wifi went down, I think its my 6 year old router.  I bought a new wifi 7 router but it hasn’t arrived yet.  I did the factory reset on my SB8200 modem, and I’m trying to reset my wifi name and password.  I’ve never reset the password before (ya, I know you are supposed to for security- I had a friend setup the modem when it was new about 2 years ago).  I’m connected to my modem with an ethernet cable, and when I type in 192.168.0.1, I get into an arris page, but it does not have the “system basic set-up” like the youtube help videos show.  Here’s what I see: I have an old Dell XPS computer from 2015 with windows 10.  How can I access the basic setup page to change my wifi password?  Thanks!
