SB8200

My sb8200 arrived today. I gave optimum tech support the mac and they say everything is set up and shows it should be working on their end. But it's not. The internet light flashes for a couple minutes then will go solid for about 30 seconds then it resets itself. I pulled the event log from the modem. My 14mo old SB8200 has started dropping the internet a couple times a day in the past week.  I see in other posts that I should follow a procedure to check the cable power levels, to make sure that part is OK.  First step is to do a direct ethernet connection to my laptop.  I don’t have an ethernet port or an ethernet-USB adapter.  Is it essential?  Can it be done wirelessly?Probably unrelated, but my ISP (Cox) is in the middle of “upgrading” and say they will take me offline today for a few hours.  Might there related “fooling around” be causing my recent connection problems?

My SB8200 stopped working yesterday, the only light on is the power light, solid green, reset button does nothing. Is there a number to call? It is still under warranty until the end of March.[edit: removed image with personal information]

I just recently purchased a SB8200v3 and am already having an issue with it.  After contacting my ISP to have it added to my account I was able to get network activity, but the first octet of my default gateway is 24 instead of my ISP’s 192.  I need to plug in directly to my modem and manually change the default gateway in order to log into it locally.Does anyone have any thoughts how to get this issue sorted out if the ISP says it’s an issue I should take up with the manufacturer? Not being able to get my home network back up and running is a slight inconvenience.

I need a firmware update file for my SB8200.  I know it was mentioned to my ISP’s support line and they refused stating that they are not allowed to connect to customer owned modems and process updates.  At this point, I cannot update my modem and i’m having connection issues with reset connects and VPN drops which are impacting my ability to do my job. Can anything be done to get me an update file, please?

Sharing the results of 4 Astound “technician” visits w/r/t loss of 75% download speed , a broken Hitron modem, and a working useless Hitron replacement. Note that the Crackerjack Box Hitron modems rented from Astound come with a fixed subnet in their “default” ipAddress which is the equivalent to getting a ‘locked’ cell phone. It locks you into that subnet if you add the modem first, but ruins your LAN speeds and address-sifting if you add the modem to an already-existing LAN which uses a different subnet. Of course, deploying no ‘forward’-compatibility, the firmware web page does not allow the customer/admin to modify that ipAddress. That and any other “admin” functionality” does not even exist on their page. It’s called ‘authoritarian’, ant-user, and chiefly, “lame”. Naturally, with so many “default” user/pwd pairs floating around, none worked, esp. because there was no connection made.That presents issues for those avoiding the security and slow-down associated with ALL Wo

I can’t get my surfboard to power up

Howdy folks, I have an SB 8200 that has been working great for 4 years, but over the past 6 months or so it has been dropping connection semi-regularly. After Googling that the unit should last 2 - 4 years I figured mine must be at the end of its lifecycle. If that is true, what should I replace it with? It still seems to be rated highly. I'm not very IT sophisticated although my whole house is smart tech equipped. I use Cox Coaxial gig speed for my internet. Any suggestions for replacement make and model would be appreciated. Thx

At the request of my ISP WOW I am attempting to connect a new Arris SB8200.After connecting the power to the modem I received a single green power light on the front of unit.I pushed and held the tiny reset button in the back for 15 seconds although I didn’t feel any spring to it?I connected the ethernet cable from my Windows 10 PC.Opened my browser with the 192.168.100.1 address to test the ethernet connection and it would not connect? rebooted PC still no connect to 192.168.100.1.This PC connection is known good I am using it successfully to post this with my old Arris SB6141.   Its the simplest ethernet to PC single connection no router or any other devices.No flashing lights on the front of the SB8200 modem after the reset either?I have not moved the coax cable over to the new SB8200 yet since I can’t login using Admin to check the signal strengths.Very impressed with my old Arris 6141 and the WOW customer service said your forum

I just purchased a SURFboard 8200 v3. The Receive and Send lights both show as green, indicating DOCSIS 3.0 is being received. My ISP is Spectrum, and their local office stated that they have only been using DOCSIS 3.1 in my state for several years. I have seen some other answers regarding this issue related to “provisioning”, and that the issue lies with the ISP, not the equipment. I’m unsure of the proper question to ask the ISP. What is provisioning and what do I need to ask the ISP to do to try and address this issue?

First post, hope I’m putting this in the right place.TLDR: Xfinity activation bricked a previously activated SB8200, and their tech support told me to contact Arris for a "configuration file".****I've used a self-owned SB8200 with my Xfinity plan for 3 years, but after upgrading to the gigabit plan, Xfinity began sending me email notices that my equipment isn't capable of fully utilizing my plan.So, I bought a recommended Arris S33, swapped out the SB8200, and had the S33  activated and running in minutes. I put the SB8200 back in a box for storage, feeling it would be handy to keep around if the S33 failed in the future.Although the S33 performs just as well, if not better, it is much hotter than the SB8200. Was advised by WOW I needed a new DOCSIS 3.1 modem so I bought an Arris SB8200 used from Ebay.Attempted to provision with WOW and tech said system was receiving a “walled garden” error?First thing I did was push the reset button in the back of the SB8200 waiting about 20 seconds until the two blue lights and one red light briefly lit before blinking out.When I released the reset pin after the reset the power light came on but the blue and red network LED’s did not blink?Modem should have been reset at this point so I attempted to verify by hooking up a single Ethernet cable to the top ethernet port of the SB8200 leaving my working ethernet connection on the PC. Have had my SB8200 connected to xFinity cable service for over a year with no issues.  2 days ago we experienced a 4 hour xFinity outage, after which my PC is the only device that the modem will connect to the internet with. My mesh WiFi system won’t connect to the internet, nor any other ethernet devices such as my Apple TV.  I have rebooted the modem several times and eventually did a factory reset and registered it again with xFinity.  Speedtest on my PC gives me 590 mps download, paying for 500.  The problem persists. Does anyone have an idea of why my PC is the only device it will connect to the internet with?  Any suggestions on correcting this issue?  Much appreciated.rvhughes1

Purchased April 2023 so 16/17 months old and total failure while not home….it was plugged into a surge protector and no other devices in the home were damaged so I don’t think it was from a  power surge…..no lights on the arris  and have done all the smart things that arris would say….is the power cable inserted? Yes…did you try it from another outlet? YesWill arris cover this under warranty or is it just that this was a bit of a lemon and most arris’s would last much longer?l did swap out an old Motorola modem that still works so wasn’t dead in the water (after  coordinating with ISP)I do want to have another spare on hand wondering if I should avoid arris or not

I spoke with Spectrum to send me a firmware update and they said that they can’t send updates to third parties so how do I update my firmware 

Hello I am trying to submit a warranty claim for my SB8200 Arris Cable Modem but not sure how to begin the process. 

Can any of you having problems accessing the 8200 even access its built in mini-webserver?There is no combination of IP addresses and methods suggested that will work. All I ever get is are “not responding” and “time out” messages from the browser. (The same browser that accesses the router with no issues.)This Modem is new and works perfectly but I need to see my bonding parameters because the cable company is having challenges in my area and needs feedback from my end. Their tech support said that Arris Modems are famous for being inaccessible for unknown reasons. Has anyone had success with a method not already suggested above? Thanks.  

Cox Cable came out, my Arris SB200V.3 modem died, shows I bought it along with modem install at BB a few months ago - chat is not working on ARRIS site, found phone nbr for ARRIS cs and no answer - need to find our more about warranty and ability to return defective one. Headed down to BB now to buy a new modem. Very disappointed in the ARRIS “support” -

I have my new SB8200v3 modem and I noticed there are two ports only. The top port is no problem, but does the bottom port even work? And if it does, how do you get it to work and what can it do?

How can we activate the 2.4GHZ on the SB8200 with Xfinity? I just bought the device and cannot connect some of my devices. Thank you for your help in advance

i have had 2 SB8200’s and neither one would ever show docsis 3.1 and with several phone calls and house visits from techs they said nothing was wrong on their end but as soon as they hooked up “their Modem” it instantly showed docsis 3.1 with the blue lights… could i really have 2 bad 8200’s or is that their way of getting me to rent their equipment?

So I just got an Sb8200. Apparently Xfinity is telling me it’s not compatible even though on their website it says it supports it. Can anyone confirm if this is true?

I have a SB8200 with a net gear router. I am experiencing very slow speeds with my Xfinity account. I have a 500mbps account. Xfinity says there is no problem coming in to the house. I was wondering how I could tell if it was my modem on my router that is only giving me about 10 MBPS?

My SB8200 power light turns off every 10 seconds and when it turns off the upload link light turns on for one second. This then repeats endlessly. I've tried hiding thr factory reset button for more than 10 seconds and nothing happens.  I've called my ISP and they can't ping the modem. I've tried unplugging the coaxial, moving it to a different outlet, unplugging the ethernet and nothing seems to change it.I've had the modem for 1.5 years and it's only happened one other time but the ISP was able to fix on the call.Any thoughts here?

I have Cox for Internet. Cox support told me to use a switch (not a router) to connect two computers to the modem. It seems like a simple thing to do, and I want to be sure to get a compatible switch. Any recommendations for a switch?I'm also considering having a Cox technician come to my house to do the setup in case there are things I don't know that need to be done -- currently have their Panoramic modem/router. Is that a good idea?
