Wi-Fi Modems

I am currently using 1G service from Xfinity but will be switching to Quantum fiber next week - that will entail using a mesh network they will install and my Arris wifi cable modem will no longer work with the fiber service.  I’ve been using a wired connection for my office computer and wanted to see what will change when it goes to a wireless (mesh) network after the fiber is installed.  So, I ran some tests comparing the wired and wireless speeds from my current SBG 8300 cable modem.What I see is that I get 924/42 speeds from the wired connection and 380/41 from the wireless connection.  The wireless test is using the 5G connection with my computer sitting 6 feet from the modem and no other devices currently being used.  I also tested my speed in my basement using the 5G network and it also shows around 400/40.  Presumably the 5G connection should be getting about double that - and I do get double with the wired connection.  So, my question is why the wireless connections

I got a refurbished SBG7400AC2 and set it up today. I can connect but I want to change the network names/passwords. I went to the website 192.168.100.1 and put in a stronger password. Then I went to the configure screen and tried the new password, the default “password” and the last 8 numbers of the serial number but nothing has worked. I’ve reset to default settings multiple times but it still doesn’t work. Everything has gone smoothly until now but this is getting really frustrating. Can anyone help?

My slow speed internet lost wi if connection with devices in the house but high speed devices continued to remain connected after an internet and power outage. I tried reentering WiFi passwords on the slow devices no luck. I logged on to surfboard app and toggled bridge mode. Now all devices connect on to the WiFi signal in the house but are no longer connected to the internet. How do I reset modem/ router to factory settings without bridge mode. Surfboard internet location 192.168.0.1 no longer works. 

I have the G34 and We are having huge loss of speed over wifi. This has been an ongoing issue since we got the equipment and it is getting worse, not better. ( and of course, the warranty ended in Jan)I had the internet prover ( cox  cable) come out and check for issues, but they  did not find anything on their side. The speed coming in to the modem/ router is 1g, but the speeds I get on wifi even standing right next to the router is 45 download and 36 upload. Is there anything I can do to trouble shoot and get the speed increased for wifi?( I am not a tech person at all, so instructions in  simple step by step terms would be greatly appreciated 🙂 )

I cannot find my password for this new modem

I have the G36 and my 2.5GB will not even come close to 2GB with Ethernet. I have all Cat6a cabling and switch that can handle up to 2.5GB also. When I am plugged in with my Ethernet and do a speed test I only get 359Mpbs. How can I fix this as I do not want to change out my modem again. 

I'm having same issue  with sbg7600, cut out 4 times yesterday.  Before that it was fine.

My wifi router isnt working. Its been replugged and reset many times. Im not sure what else to do other than contact support! Im not sure what IDs or Pins are needed but please let me know and i can give any information for any help! Thank you so much

Hi purchase an Arris G36 yesterday.  We are having difficulties with internet connection and I want to change the name of our WiFi and the password.

When I try to log into the modem management website, using any viewer I get a message similar to this: “Supported Browsers VersionsThe version of Mozilla Firefox you are using is unsupported. Hi all,I am using an ARRIS router model NVG578LX provided by an internet provider.I need some help on how to turn on the 2.4GHz channel with wireless IEEE802.11b/g/n standards.It is because my desktop doesn’t have a built in wifi adapter hence I have to use an Edimax usb which only works with the IEEE802.11b/g/n standards.I have successfully turned on the 2.4GHz separated from the combine channel (the primary). I also tried turn on and off the 5Ghz. Unfortunately, the Edimax usb couldn’t find (see) the 2.4GHz network.Noting that:All the phones and laptops can find/see and access to the 2.4GHz.  I also tried to turn on the Guess wifi with 2.4Ghz (but the Edimax coudn’t find/see the network). the Edimax usb still can see other network providers from the neighbours surrounding.  the Edimax usb worked well with the previous internet provider using a different router (not from ARRIS) but only when I turned on the I

The surfboard app is only showing 2 devices on my network which is not correct. App appears not to update or show/display any correct information making it essentially useless.  Also experiencing connection issues including devices randomly disconnecting from the network then not able to locate G34 to connect.  extremely frustrating and poor customer experience at this point. 

Why do my arris sbg10  keep disconnecting from my internet 

My kid for weeks now has been having issues with the WiFi but I’ve been chucking it up to plaster and lathe house and distance from router. I just tried to print something from my phone while on the 2.4Ghz WiFi which worked in the past but was having issues. This lead to me removing the Ethernet cord from my computer and trying to connect my computer to WiFi.Upon running a speed test on speedtest.net, I was getting 5Mbps, if I’m lucky, while the 5GHz gives 300+ Mbps and Ethernet 500+ Mbps. I saw similar posts talking about changing the channel so I tried that and the best outcome was 30Mbps. Is my Surfboard SBG7400AC2’s 2.4GHz WiFi components shot? Did I hit the side of it or something to cause damage internally? Why is it so much slower? I get WiFi is supposed to be slower than wired but not to this extent. What can I do? Does Arris have an address to diagnose your router or something?

I got a SBG8300 and I reset it cause it was running slow and now it’s stuck on the blue light and it don’t even let me reset it again. I unplugged it overnight and still the same thing. Any help would be appreciated. 

I have the Surfboard Central app on my phone and I listed all my kids devices by name and type and put them under User Profiles for Parental Controls. Then I turned them all on but the children’s devices are still synced with the internet. (The toggle button indicates that parental control is enabled). How can I solve this issue so the parental control actually works? I only bought my modem in June 2023, so it shouldn’t be too old to function properly when it comes with a 2 year warranty.

Replacing an older modem/router that was continuously dropping the connection. I finally got the connection to work, but now I can not get access to the gateway to rename the hardware or to change passphrases. Does this require a factory reset?

How can I change the password that came with the modem?

I installed the SBG8300 modem/wifi router yesterday. Connected devices are working great. I logged in the GUI and can see the connected devices, nevertheless the iPhone app shows “00” devices. I have restarted the modem and it does not fix the issue. What is interesting is that the web GUI shows all the connected devices, but not the iPhone app

Why do my SBG8300 Cable Modem & Wi-Fi- Router keeps disconnecting from my internet???  

I set up my g54 for port forwarding but ports are still shown as closed on port checker. 

I just tried to activate my modem and Cox said they couldn’t because this model only goes up to 250 Mbps??? 

I need to replace the ac adapter for the sbg 8300, but the materials that came with the modem/router don’t say what the device’s rated voltage and current are. Seems like the ac adapter would need to be 12 volts and 2 amps, but I used an ac adapter with those specs with this device and that adapter got fried and stopped working. Is there more information I need to select the right adapter? Can someone please confirm the ac adapter and/or voltage and current specs for the sbg8300 so I can make sure to order the correct replacement? Looks like Arris doesn’t offer ac adapters, just uses third-party ones. I want to make sure it’s compatible and pricing and info for ac adapters is all over the place and inconsistent. Please help!

How can I login again after being locked out?

I know the SBG8300 is an older unit, but it has served me well for several years.It is powered via a large APC UPS so it is not connected directly to utility AC.I hard-wire (ethernet cable) my modem->desktop to maximize internet performance (Xfinity).Event: I was working online during a thunderstorm with LOTS of lightening. In a moment, my internet connection failed. I looked at my modem and it was DARK. My UPS was nominal and my desktop and other accessories were operating normally.I tried unplugging the Arris modem and waited 30 seconds to reboot. Immediately upon restoring power to the modem I noticed BOTH BLUE lights blink 5 times then the modem went dark again. I tired a hardware reset (small hole in back of unit) and received the same result. I tried unplugging then restoring power again and got the 5 blue blinks then dark again.An exhaustive search for this troubleshooting indication was fruitless.I suspect an electrical surge foun
