Wi-Fi Modems

I recently purchased a SBG6580 thru a previous owner because I needed something simple for my new place. I am trying to figure out how to lock my security but needing help with the username and password on the 192.168.0.1. Does anyone know the general way to login so I can secure my device?  

After installing & connecting via ethernet all my devices I let the network run a few days.  I logged in & out of gateway from mobile app & web browser, with no problem & was convinced everything was working well. I attempted to relocate the router to a central location & it took forever to come back online, nearly 40mins!!!  Now I’m having connectivity issues, cant log into mobile app or through web browser.Like many people, error message about my browser version not up to date, (turn off firewall) certificate errors,  (let anyone access), then finally the web browser loaded the login page after a long 10 min wait only to enter user & pass “Operation time out, try again” . so I click login. wait a long time as the system thinks it over only to get timed out again.  but next time a intentionally added a charractor to the password to see if I get time out error or invalid password. Xfinity keeps emailing me stating my Arris Surfboard SBG8300 is no longer compatible. We’re supposed to be getting 800 speeds and are getting 500. Someone told me this is because the SBG8300 is known for having a defective puma chipset. Is Arris offering a fix for this? Mine is still under warranty and I did purchase a 4 yr product replacement plan from Best Buy. 

I can’t connect my canon mx922 printer to the surfboard G36 router, my network is up and running  but not able to connect the printer 

I’ll try to hit the main points quickly:SBG6782 seemed to be working well about 2 months agoHad a major power outage and internet provider was down for a day or two (Suddenlink/Optimum)When power and internet came back on, my modem wasn’t working at all or barely at all and cable provider said that I needed a firmware update on my modem (which they supposedly did from their office).  After that the modem was dropping the signal about 1-3x times an hour (and sometimes more than that)Service call and it seemed like there were some issues that they resolved (like my modem not being in their system anymore etc) and some line to home cleaning up, but after a few weeks, modem still dropping a lot (2-3 times an hour).  Another guy comes out and shows me that I have a really good signal to my modem but I couldn’t get internet… I disconnected routers etc. and got the internet working and thought that was it… BUT modem goes back to dropping signal 1-3x / hou

When I try to connect a 2.4 ghz device (smart plug, etc) I either get an incorrect password when trying to connect or it gets connected and then drops.  I know the password is correct.

wifi speed coming from SBG8300 only 5 feet away getting 53mbps on 2.4ghz & 5ghz yet with ethernet hardwired to Orbi the wifi is 890mbps.  

I want to adjust my setting to 2.4 GHz only to see if Sonos will be allowed to access my music library on my new Windows 11 PC.   According to the SBG6782-AC user guide, I am supposed to be able to access settings by entering the IP address into my browser.  I get the following error message:Secure Connection FailedAn error occurred during a connection to IP ADDRESS. Peer using unsupported version of security protocol.Error code: SSL_ERROR_UNSUPPORTED_VERSION    The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.    Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.How can I access settings now that I cannot even connect?  I have tried three different browsers without success.

Tried to hook up my Linksys 6E mesh network, but appeared that I had too much interference with the 2.4\5 channels with the G365 so turned off wifi on G36 and still and dns issues is there a good mesh network that is designed well to work with the G36? Does anyone hard code 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1 for DNS ? once I tried it, dns had issues so had to go back to automatic network selection

Good Day everyone: I recently upgraded my Cable Router and chose the G36, and have been pretty pleased with it so far. I have traditionally connected my laser printer to my Cable Router so that computers across the network, hardwired and wireless devices, could easily print to the Canon laser printer. I have plugged in the printer via an ethernet cable to the router, and I can’t find it, I can’t add it, and wireless printing is also unavailable. What setting on my G36 am I overlooking? Please help!

I’ve been searching for a fix for this for hours and nothing works and nothing I’m finding is helping. Every time I try and access the admin site I get this error no matter the browser I use. Connects fine with my phone but is not available to my other devices 

*Nevermind… I figured it out*  In my connected device list, a lot of them are showing unknown.  How to I find the devices MAC addresses so I can verify they are legit and rename them?  It’s weird this information isn’t listed… only the IP address is shown.

I’m using an NVG578LX router with the wifi turned off. The wifi indicator light on the front of the unit is off/dark.Does this turn off emf coming from the router or just the intelligence (modulation) of the emf?Thank You for a replyBill K

I have little to no tech knowledge.  My router is no longer allowing certain items to connect.  Can not authenticate is the what it shows.  I have tried factory reset and still get the same result.  Any tips?

Just bought SBG8300 Modem and Wi-fi in one. It has a Wi-fi cord that plugs from Arris modem to computer.  Now I can't carry my laptop anywhere because it is connected to modem. What can I do?

Do we need to update firmware?  My current firmware is 01.01.137.NCS?

Had to upgrade to new ROUTER/MODEM. G34. Network test results : "HP printer is unable to connect to your wireless router". My MAC filtering IS turned off. DIAGNOSTICS RESULTS show everything good, EXCEPT under settings: no filtering  -FAIL.

I am trying to create my own user id and password but I get this message: Invalid user name or password, or your access has been locked due to multiple failed login attempts! I’ve re set my modem 3 times, cleared my cache and still locked out. 

I just got my WiFi service installed with Xfinity and I have my own Arris surfboard modem/router. The WiFi won’t seem to connect and the blue light on the WiFi signal keeps blinking. The WiFi does not seem to be connecting and won’t work on my phone or laptop. How do I get it to connect? Unplugging it and restarting it doesn’t work. 

On a fairly regular basis my G34 Wifi router/modem will stop broadcasting the SSIDs for 2.4 and 5. I’ve tried restarting and a reset. Nothing seems to make it stable. It still passes wired traffic and I have a TPLink AP that broadcasts without issue. None of the built in diagnostic tools are providing answers. 

greetings, I recently purchased an ARRIS surfboard SBG10 through Best Buy. When I was researching this item, the website indicated it was a modem and router combo, however, when I picked up the item, the description on the box only said ‘wifi cable modem’. When the technician came to install my service, he informed me that this was only a modem and didn’t have the router.I checked other images, including the ones on the ARRIS website, and the box description said ‘cable modem and wifi router’ clearly for product SBG10 while mine does not say this.My question is, how can I verify the device I purchased is a combo gateway instead of a just a modem as described on the box? Thanks

Have a SBG 8300 gateway and I am unable to connect to my work server. Internet connection is fine. I unfortunately have basically no understanding of how this works. My IT person says it’s a xfinity problem, xfinity says it’s a modem problem. Which I believe because I can log on everywhere but home.  

i currently have xfiniti 200mb service to my home when i do a speed test from any device hard wired to the modem its great i get that speed. When i do a device speed test that is on wifi I only get 20mb at best upload is consistant for bot WIFI connected devices and ethernet connected. Why is my WIFI download so low? how do i fix it.
