SB8200 D3.1 SN **************how to temporarily turn off 5.0 so I can add Arlo camera. Then turn 5.0 back on

I have a new arris SB8200 and xfinity. I attempted activating through the xfinity app but it said it could not connect to device. The power, send, and internet lights were solid green and receive light was solid blue. I got on xfinity chat and they had me do a bunch of stuff but always ended with same configuration of lights. When plugging in router, was showing no internet. I tried going to the IP address on my laptop but no luck. My laptop does not have an Ethernet port so I don’t have the option to plug directly into modem. When I went back to my old modem, everything worked fine. Trying to figure out next steps before I return this modem. 

I need help, I bought the arris sb8200 cable modem. C spire fiber optic will be installed soon. Did I buy the wrong product? If so what do I need to connect to fiber from c spire? 

Suddenly surfboard 8200 receive light blinking other two not lit at all. no internet outage in our area, have reset modem a few times. is 3 1/2 years it’s life expectancy. 

My SB8200 will not power up. The 4 lights on the back at the ethernet ports come on. None of the lights on the front work. I have tried moving to multiple different outlets and there are no changes. 

Last night our modem suddenly stopped working. The modem has sat near the coax cable at a computer desk. We haven’t moved it in almost a year. I spent 2 hours on the phone with our provider troubleshooting and running diagnostics. Xfinity told me that we’ll need to buy a new modem. This is frustrating because I bought the Arris SB8200 around this time last year and had an xfinity technician come out and confirm the configuration.  I assumed these modems should las for more than a year. What are we supposed to do if the provider is telling us the modem is broken? I made the investment in the Arris modem so that I wouldn’t waste money renting one from our service provider. Now we’re worried that we don’t have a choice and don’t want to waste more money purchasing another modem. What do you suggest we do?

I am a tad green with this topic.  What is the fix to the message on my MacBook Pro when I try to connect via an ethernet cable that says, “Display Ethernet has a self-assigned IP address and will not be able to connect to the Internet.”  I am able to connect all my devices (2 computers, 2 iPads, 2 iPhones, to the wifi Eero Pro which is connect to the Arris sb8200, yet I am not able to connect via ethernet cable. any help would be greatly appreciated. Hello, I have an SB8200 and I’m on the xfinity “Performance Pro Internet Plan” (Download speeds: up to 400 Mbps / Upload speeds: up to 100 Mbps). Google Wifi puck connects to the modem. Linksys se3008v2 switch connects to the puck. All other devices are either wired to the switch or connect to the puck by wifi. I’ve only been able to pull ~10Mbps down on my connection. Tested this through: - The Google Wifi puck’s built in speed testing. - Internet speed test on a desktop hardwired to the switch - An Open Speedtest running on a hardwired NAS hit from my phone while wireless is turned off. Had several troubleshooting calls with comcast. I have had to call my ISP several times about not getting the speeds I am paying for. We pay for 1200 mb/s. We tested the signals and the speed is coming in about 1980 mb/s through the cable but then drops to the low 800s after going through my sb8200 modem before it even hits my router. I have Comcast xfinity internet service. I want to upgrade my sb6190 modem to the sb8200 but it is only available in white. Is the cm8200 (which is available in black) compatible and interchangeable with the sb8200. I’ve read some Amazon reviews who said they simply identify their cm8200 as an sb8200 when registering the modem and they have no issues. Will it work and are there any downsides to choosing the cm8200 for use on Comcast/xfinity? 

Bought a Surfboard SB8200 on Prime Day to replace the Motorola Modem we were previously using and received it Saturday morning. ISP is supplying higher speed internet and Motorola unit wasn’t capable of achieving. Connected SB8200 to TP-Link S4 that we had connected to the Motorola unit before (and working) and while I can connect to the Wi-Fi network, I get the error message no internet. Connect to the SB8200 through an Ethernet cable to my laptop ThinkPad hub and I get internet no problems. Talked to Tech Support last night and they told me I can’t have two Ethernet connections at the same time with the SB8200 unless I get the second port activated by ISP. A little odd considering we had two Ethernet connections with the Motorola unit and no problems. Has anyone had any success with connecting SB8200 with TP-Link S4 mesh system and getting Wi-Fi to work. Not particularly tech savvy so would need a dumbed down version of how to to get me through it. Tech Suppor

Can I reboot my sb8200 router remotely using the app?

I have contact my ISP as I am looking to port forward on my router, after a fair bit of research it turns out I have a private IP address and this needs to be changed to public. When I first contacted my ISP (Optimum) they said it would be no issue to do this, until they discovered I have my own modem and router. They then explained to me that in order to change my IP from private to public I had to contact my modem’s manufacture. I cannot see any way to make changes to my ISP, and if my suspicions are right, I am not able to through my modem and it has to be done through my ISP. Any help or advice on this would be much appreciated.Sevenups

First, yes, I did scan the questions and I did see a similar one answered, but I have questions from that.Previously I had the SB6190 and just upgraded to the SB8200 to get the DOCIS 3.1 plus the GB ethernet ports.Linksys Atlas Pro 6 Mesh Router worked fine with the SB6190 and I could easily access the modem page if needed without using a “direct” connection. In other words I could from my wired computer access the 192.168.100.1 page address in the browser on the computer.Now I can’t.Same router, same computer, same browser with new SB58200. Just won’t connect. I changed nothing on the router settings, so it really makes no sense the router is involved in blocking the access.Note well: I am not wanting to change anything. But occasionally I look at the logs just to see if there is anything “off”.I am NOT trying to access via WiFi, or wirelessly.Short of moving my computer to the proximity of the SB8200 how can I open the access via my

On my SB8200 when I go to 192.168.100.1 and login, it pops up a window saying you need to login first.  I click Close and it takes me back to login screen.  I cant get in. I’m wanting to check the logs today see why my modem reboots constantly. I did a modem reset and still does the sane thing. I tried accessing modem from an iPhone, iPad and computer using safari and chrome with all the same issues. 

Hey guys. I bought this modem in Nov2019 off Amazon. It’s been sitting in storage, new in the packaging ever since, while I went through the longest divorce in history.House is sold, new life beginning, and I ordered up new service with Comcast, at the new place. Tried to hook up my own modem with their support, and opened the Arris box, gave them my MAC ID and SN and they are telling me both of those are already in use.Tech said sometimes the manufacturer will rent inactive numbers out, and to ask for a release or replacement. I couldn’t find a call number to reach Arris. Where do I begin?

I setup the Arris Sb8200 model in my home.After install and registered somehow it shows I installed the Sb6141 model although the s/n is correct. Is there a way to fix this without reinstalling?

Hi! I recently upgraded my ISP plan to go from 400mbps to 800mbps down. After trouble shooting directly with my ISP and my router, I still receive the same speeds (~400mbps down). I have tried testing my speeds on different devices and different locations. Is there anything I can do directly with my Surfboard Modem or settings I can configure? I don’t have a device right now that has an ethernet port that I can directly plugin to the modem to check speeds from there. Thank you!

I had to replace my old modem due to it being destroyed by a family member, but when I received a new modem, it did not come with a wifi security key unlike my previous modem. Am I just blind or dumb?

I connected my new modem, then 24 hours later no internet. The modem is hot to the touch and doesn’t light up. Should I just return this thing and get a different brand?

SB8200 bought around Oct. 2022. Still in warranty. Will not connect to internet. Power light and second light are on, third light comes on and blinks twice then goes off, fourth light never comes on. Operated very hot before this. Dropped out several times during my internet session and had to reset power to correct. Need someone to help me replace modem. I worked with an Arris tech for a long time on 06/23/23. Called and had a technician come out and check my internet. He said there was nothing wrong. No luck! He installed a modem off his truck and told me to check back with Arris. HELP! 

How can I improve my wifi calling?

Spectrum said they not no longer Version 6 SB8200 is compatible with their network. Do I need to buy V7? Or can possibly update firmware??

SB8200 modem has all lights on as expected but I’m unable to connect to the network.  I called out internet provider and after running some tests said it must be the modem.  What else can I do to diagnose the problem since I cannot get help from the internet provider and I do not seem to see a phone number for tech support for my arris modem?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  

Frist time. No internet. Only accesses Spectrum activation page. I thought they should all be green. 3 are green and one is blue (download).
