SB8200

I just purchased a new SB8200. I contacted my ISP to change my MAC address to the new modem. When it powers on, everything lights up except the bottom light indicating internet service. When I called my ISP,  they aren’t seeing the modem. I did a hard reboot with no luck. Trying to set up a Google Mesh Wifi. The Google can’t link with the modem either (with ethernet). ISP sent technician out today and they verified service and connections are good. They reconnected me back to my old router and recommended I return the modem. I felt like I should just be able to connect it, link it with my router, and be ready to go, but it’s not working out that way. Any suggestions? Do I need to go to the Default Gateway and make any changes for initial setup of the modem? 

What is the proper application to control my SB8200?  None seem to list it as supported. 

Hey all,I am having some issues with my SB8200 .  Speeds are inconsistent and overall network performance is erratic.  After looking at the arris events page it looks like I’m having all sorts of issues.  I called my internet provider (optimum) and they tell me that they have NO control over the modem and cannot update the firmware or operating software.  They tell me this because I supplied my own hardware and did not user the optimum provided hardware (don’t like paying rental fees). I told them that they should have control over it as this is the latest cable modem standard. How can I upgrade my SB8200 if this is the case? Help!!!!

Yesterday, somehow the signal from the modem to the wifi stopped working. I have good internet hard wired to my mac. I’ve done all the resets on all hardware. Comcast says it’s a modem issue but offered no other help since it’s no their equipment.The only thing that is different is I pay for 800 mbps and I noticed when I do a speed test on the mac now I’m getting 1.1 gbps. I don’t really pay attention to speed so I don’t know if that’s new or has anything to do with it. The download light on the modem is blue now but I’m not sure if it was always that way because I don’t pay attention to that.Could the possible increased speed be the issue? Thanks!

This is an issue that’s becoming more and more frequent to the point that I had to disconnect it and put back my  SB6141, which I had for 6 years with no issues.There is nothing wrong with my ISP or connection into the house. This is a hardware failure that has become worse over time since I bought in August.I just want a warranty replacement but can’t even get decent warranty support.Please advise p.s. I wanted to add that I ran the system by bypassing my wifi router. It means I connected the modem directly to one pc I have with the wired connection and the drops are legit; isolated to the MODEM itself.

My SB8200 will not connect to the internet. The upstream and downstream LEDS will turn solid green after a few moments and then the online light will blink for a few minutes before the whole procedure starts again. I’ve had two countless calls and two techs come and say that the signals on the cables are fine, going as far to replace them just incase. No one can find a solution. It’s been provisioned and even reprovisioned by my ISP, and after they blamed faulty hardware I even replaced it with another SB8200 and have the same issue. Apologies for the phone photo of event log, without internet I can’t transfer it from my pc. It’s been a week of trying to get this solved and I’m at my wits end.

I am not able to locate the passphrase or Wi-Fi network name in order to login to internet even though I have an activated modem.

I have had the SB8200 for 2 years with 1000Mbps Xfinty internet service. I use the speed test from my Orbi Router which has showed about 930 for the last two years. This week the internet has seemed slower so ran the test and its 310Mbps down 22 up. I have rebooted the modem and router. I have asked Xfinity to ping and restart. I plugged my computer to the back of the modem port 1 but my Mac self assigns the ip to a 169 so can't seem to make that work.When I use the web app I get the following info for the downloadConnectionThe status listed show the connection state of the cable modem. Are there any plans to release a new firmware for the sb8200 on Comcast to support mid split?

Hey so my modems Ethernet ports are not both active. I have 2 PCs plugged in and only one is registering a connection even they are both hardwired Ethernet into the same modem. I just got off the phone with Comcast and they said it was a manufacturing issue? Any help and support would be great. 

Just bought a used SB8200 on eBay from a reputable seller.  I tried to provision it with my Wow ISP via a phone conversation.  The rep said that there is an error “equipment must be in a special status to add it”.  She said it was locked.  I did a factory reset.  Connected it directly to a laptop without internet and logged into the modem.  I was able to change the default password to a new one.  Tried to provision again by swapping it with my old SB6183 and calling the ISP.  Same error.  While trying to provision, I can access the modem web page through my router but the username and password doesn’t work.  As soon as I take it off the cable and router and connect to my laptop directly, the username and password I created works. When putting my system back to the SB6183, they had to re-provision it to make it work (proving they removed that modem while trying to provision the SB8200).We have verified the MAC address multiple times. Is there anything I can do on

Trying to determine if the refurbished modem I just bought from Amazon is the problem for extremely slow speeds or if the modem is bad. Following steps I found in FAQs, I got the attached results but I’m too confused to make sense of it. 

How can I reset my modem SB8200? I moved from one address to another.

So out of nowhere, the Arris SB8200 on my desk yesterday, goes from blue light on DOWNLOAD to green and my speeds plummet from 1,000 meg download to 5 meg.  I of course call my ISP - Breezeline. They say I need the firmware update, but since I own the modem, they can’t do it. Come to the Arris site and it says the firmware updates are with your ISP.  For 2 straight days, I am being told that Breezeline can’t do the firmware since I own the modem and to get Arris to do it only to be told by Arris on the phone - that wants to CHARGE ME for the help since I’ve owned the modem for 14 months, says that Breezeline can do the firmware for me. I tried to factor reset the modem, did the admin and last 8 digits of the serial number but it won’t log in.  Breezeline is charging me $75 for a technician to come out and advised me to BUY a new router, which the tech visit is more than half the cost of the modem.  I feel pretty s

My SB8200 modem appears to be no longer allowing me to access my work VPN.  The internet works otherwise.  I originally thought this was an issue with my work computer; but, on troubleshooting with my work IT, we determined that wasn’t the issue (I was even given a new computer, which did not resolve the problem).  I then thought it might be an internet provider issue; but, on contacting my internet provider (RCN), they rebooted my connection among other potential correctives, and determined the issue wasn’t coming from their end.  Both my work IT and internet provider suggested this was likely a modem issue. Additional context:  I haven’t done anything to my modem (I have not touched it) before the issue arose.  I restarted my modem after the issue arose; that did not correct the issue.  This issue just started one morning and has been going on for two weeks now.  I am able to log into my VPN through other internet sources not linked to my modem (e.g., phone hotspot).

Set up the Arris8200 with Xfinity Internet coax, plugged network cable to a port on the Arris8200i am able to get an IP from arris, however, the IP is an external routable IP,  there does not seem to be configured a LAN, internal only IP which I would have expected  I cannot access 192.168.100.1, as the IP I have been allocated looks to be directly from Xfinity, and I am unable to add anything to the second network port on the back of the Arris8200 as the DHCP looks to be provided direct from Xfinity how can I get to configure the Arris8200 when it appears to be not doing its own DHCP for an internal network but rather passing DHCP from Comcast? I requested help from Comcast who said to contact Arris directly for help…  

Hi All, I bought a SB8200 a year ago but after 8 months of operation it stopped working and even through a reset and reboot it no longer would activate with xfinity’s network. I have an older sb6141 so I plugged that in and was able to activate back with xfinity no problem. I got an RMA for the sb8200 and recieved a new sb8200 and was able to activate the new rma sb8200. That replaced SB8200 lasted about 11 months this time but now same thing happened and it no longer recieves signal to activate on the xfinity network. I had a comcast tech come out and check the line everything is fine and I plugged back in my sb6141 I had laying around and it works. I went to rma the SB8200 again but am being informed that’s not possible by support because “this is the processes we need to follow there is no option to provide you another replacement”. Why can’t I get an RMA for this clearly defective unit? Mine is the SB8200 model. Yesterday I could access the “web manager” through my computer which has a router and a switch in between the modem. I called the support line and he tried to tell me I had to have a computer connected to the modem directly (I don’t think this is true as I did it yesterday, not directly connected). The line went, it might have been me, I get a lousy signal at my house (thanks tmble)  One problem, that seemed not to be an issue yesterday. Is that my home network is 10.0.0.0/24 not the 192.168. I’m not a networking expert, but if it worked yesterday… what changed. I’m not comfortable, that the providers only authorize certain equipment. The “manager” doesn’t let you do anything but view … which is something...but for a device that I own, is much less than I would expect. Especially in this newer model. I hope that my provider doesn’t have too much control over the modem. Because it’s only been “activated/provisioned” a short time,

Is the model number still support by Arris? We are using it with COX and have had nothing, but lag and I read that Arris no longer supports this model. 

I just purchased the SB8200 modem for my work computer.   Installation & activation through Xfinity seemed to go well.  All lights on the modem are doing what they should, & my computer indicates that I’m connected to the internet, but I can’t access anything on the internet….  I called ARRIS tech support, but no help…Any ideas for a simple solution before I return this thing??Thanks!

My surfboard 8200 never came with an SSID label. How do I get that?

Purchased the sbg8200 today... isp got me access to the internet... however my led for online is not green... constantly white. Help
