SB8200

I spent a couple of hours on the phone with Astound (formerly RCN) and they could not get my SB8200 to provision. they would send signal, lights would blink, and then it would just turn off. If I reconnected the ISP supplied modem there was no connectivity issues.Tried to call Arris and even though they say they are open 7-Midnight central time the voicemail said they were closed at 10:25PM.I connected directly into the modem and couldn’t communicate with it either as the modem won’t stay on. Any ideas?

I have an Arris SB8200 Modem. Recently, it is resetting (i think) or turning off and turning on multiple times a day. It is extremely frustrating, as it used to never do this and now it is constantly doing this. The blue lights will go off, and then will turn yellow for about a minute and then go back to blue and the internet is back. Attached are the event logs and other info about the modem. Hello, I don’t believe I was given a default username and password for my modem.  What would they be by default?  If needed, how would I hard reset?

Unable to connect to network. Password not accepted.

The modem is only a few months old and since a week I have an issue with it.I use comcast/xfinity and the downstream connectivity light has always been blue and the upstream has been green because of the slow speed of 40mbps.My download speed has always been about the same which is 900 mbps. Since the downstream connectivity light has turned green (last week) my download speed has not changed it’s still about 900 mbps and more.The only way I can have back the blue light to come back it’s by recycling the power or resetting the modem but the blue light will not last. During the day or next day it will turn green again even though the speed is still 900 mbpsAnyone has any idea why this is happening? Thank you

If i connect my laptop straight to the modem most pages work, but when I plug my router it stops working 

Dead SB8200. It's been barely 6 months since I purchased this modem and it's completely dead. I have a universal adaptor to make sure it wasn't the power cord. This thing is dead to the world. Nothing I can do to fix this. It's still under warranty, but I can't seem to get in touch with anyone to find out what I need to do with a piece of junk.  

Hi, my SB8200 is about 3 years old. My ISP is supplying 500 mbps but I’m barely getting 200. Cox’s answer is that my modem is outdated and should be replaced. They will basically not do anything to help. I’m no expert and I realize things get outdated, but I don’t think that’s the case. Looking for opinions, some advice. Should I replace my modem?

Short and to the point.  I have a surfboard sb8200 and 2 mesh w21's. Only 3 days old from Amazon.  I have 4 devices way passed the satellite and there all 2.4 only and their only on the main router.  I have a camera off a ways also and it's the only one on the satellite. If I go outside with my Galaxy watch it goes on the satellite. The main says there are 4 devices with poor signals, but still work, and they won't go on the satellite. My main has 15 devices and my satellite has 1 and my watch sometimes. I've read lots of ideas from people that think their correct. It's crazy arris won't help anyone, they just have self help. I'm going to wait until 1 month when the warrenty is about to expire and return it and keep getting a new one until I get help. 👍

I installed a SB8200 with Xfinity couple of days back. All lights on the modem are green. But the event log has the following line under Downstream Bonded channels. I did reset as well as power cycle the modem.Channel ID Lock Status Modulation Frequency Power SNR/MER Corrected Uncorrectables 48 Locked OFDM PLC 688000000 Hz 7 dBmV 42 dB 422431900 0   

Not connecting to WiFi 

Previous to last night and now this morning; the WiFi was working perfectly but now instead of having the green and blue lights lit, it’s just all green with the last green light blinking.

I’m trying to set up an HP Deskjet 2600 to my Wi-Fi. I was online before, but I got a new internet and SB8200 modem

Similar to other posts, I am experiencing very slow (less than 1Mbps) on a 1GB service through Astound Broadband over last several weeks.  Trying to figure out if it is the ISP, the modem or my wifi.  Not sure how to diagnose modem and hoping someone knows how to decipher this. 

Question: I’m on Xfinity and want to reset my modem. Will I have to activate it again afterwards, or will it work based on the MAC? I’m asking because the default admin password doesn’t work. I tried 2 different browsers and get the same result. 

SB6183 continually drops wifi. ISP tries to fix but no success. They state I need a new modem. How do I get warranty service? Warranty expires Nov 2024   

I am connected with Cox 500MB service.My SB8200 will finally connect to Cox but it seems to take too long.Connection speeds match my service plan but I do have some unexplained drops in connection. The Upstream and Downstream lights are BlueThe Power light is White and the Online light are WhiteNo flashing lights, all solid blue or white.What should I do to get all lights Green? 

I have an SB8200 on xfinity/comcast.  I have had it for 5 years or longer. I was on the 400/12 plan, and on Sunday 15 October I upgraded to the 800/20 plan.  I did it online.  Everything went well, and for about 24 hours all was well.  Then, my download speeds dropped to to 18MBps.  I called xfinity, and they ran their remote diagnostics, and said there was a problem which needed escalated to the ‘speed tier network”, and was told it would take a couple of hours and that they would contact me when finished.  They contacted me about 2 hours later, said it should be fixed, but nothing changed.  They have me scheduled for a tech visit on Thursday.  Nothing else in my network has changed, just the bump in speed.  Would It help to call xfinity and have them reprovision my modem?  How safe is it for them to do so?  I have read stories of people trying to reprovision their modem, but after it is remove from their end, it will not reprovision because it is ‘locked’ to an account.  Here is t

I just bought the 3.1 surfboard and i called my cable company and it’s hooked up. But I’m having trouble with setting up the wifi. Any pointers or simple solutions? 

I just purchased a new SB8200. I contacted my ISP to change my MAC address to the new modem. When it powers on, everything lights up except the bottom light indicating internet service. When I called my ISP,  they aren’t seeing the modem. I did a hard reboot with no luck. Trying to set up a Google Mesh Wifi. The Google can’t link with the modem either (with ethernet). ISP sent technician out today and they verified service and connections are good. They reconnected me back to my old router and recommended I return the modem. I felt like I should just be able to connect it, link it with my router, and be ready to go, but it’s not working out that way. Any suggestions? Do I need to go to the Default Gateway and make any changes for initial setup of the modem? 

What is the proper application to control my SB8200?  None seem to list it as supported. 

Hey all,I am having some issues with my SB8200 .  Speeds are inconsistent and overall network performance is erratic.  After looking at the arris events page it looks like I’m having all sorts of issues.  I called my internet provider (optimum) and they tell me that they have NO control over the modem and cannot update the firmware or operating software.  They tell me this because I supplied my own hardware and did not user the optimum provided hardware (don’t like paying rental fees). I told them that they should have control over it as this is the latest cable modem standard. How can I upgrade my SB8200 if this is the case? Help!!!!

Yesterday, somehow the signal from the modem to the wifi stopped working. I have good internet hard wired to my mac. I’ve done all the resets on all hardware. Comcast says it’s a modem issue but offered no other help since it’s no their equipment.The only thing that is different is I pay for 800 mbps and I noticed when I do a speed test on the mac now I’m getting 1.1 gbps. I don’t really pay attention to speed so I don’t know if that’s new or has anything to do with it. The download light on the modem is blue now but I’m not sure if it was always that way because I don’t pay attention to that.Could the possible increased speed be the issue? Thanks!
