SB8200

My wifi has been offline for 4 days. Xfinity reporter that on their end the internet system is on and successfully connected. They suggested to troubleshoot my surfboard. I rebooted several times - no luck. Should I factory reset? See title for status lights on my modem. 

How is this resolved?  Happens with Win7, Win10 and Win11.  Browsers include Chrome, Firefox, Brave, MS Edge.

Xfinity sent me an email saying that my SB8200 is not able to deliver the upgraded 800 mbps speed that I’m being offered.    Is that true and if so, any recommendations of the best value for money for a modem that DOES full use of the higher speeds? Thanks in advance for your helpJP

We have a new modem (SB8200) and intended to use our existing Netgear router they do not want to talk. Any advice?  Do we have to have an ARRIS router as well?  That does not make sense when my prior modem was not Netgear. 

Hello! I have an SB8200 Surfboard modem that seems to be non functional. I can connect to my wifi but I can't connect to the internet.The light are (top to bottom) Yellow, Blue, Yellow, Yellow, and the rest are offI'm pretty sure my warranty is still active but when I checked online it says it can't find the device. I've double and triple checked the serial number and it's exactly what it says on the modem. Every number. I'd even show the picture if It was safe to share the serial number but I'm not sure. I've tried adding spaces between the letters, I've tried using every other code on the modem even if it isn't labeled as the serial number, I've tried adding S/M: the the beginning of the number, I've tried adding zeros, removing numbers, putting letters in upper or lowercase, nothing has worked. This is the main reason I made this post 

Good morning, Have a brand new SB8200 that's never been opened but I purchased it in 2019 and its just been in storage. Want to replace the current SB6183 I am using with Charter Spectrum. I need to determine the revision or version number to make sure its at minimum version 2 per Charters approved modem list. I have checked on the box and the modem itself but there is no version number listed. Is there a way to determine the version number from the s/n, etc? I am pretty sure it will be fine as the 6183 I have been using has been working fine on the acct since 2014 but just want to be sure.Thanks

A little background first - my COX account is for 500 Mbps, and with the Gateway speed tests on the COX website were somewhat greater than 500 Mbps.  However, we experienced daily issues with the WiFi, having to reboot the Gateway at least once almost every day.  Our laptops and other devices would lose connection frequently. So, I recently replaced my COX Panoramic Gateway with an Arris SB8200 cable modem connecting to a TP-Link Deco X55 (AX3000) mesh system (3 nodes).  The setup was easy and our devices don't seem to have any issues connecting.  However, download speed tests (WiFi) are now showing 80 Mbps (upload ~11 Mbps).  A wired test with my laptop connected directly to a Deco node showed only a slightly higher download speed of 85 Mbps.According to COX my modem was provisioned properly and it all looks good on their end. So I sent a detailed report to TP-Link support, including all information they requested (various speed tests, network topology, firmwar

This modem has been working well for me.  I want to login to the modem AND I CANNOT ACCOMPLISH THIS.  My tech skill level is high.  I have spent hours doing Google searches on how to do the login, including using different combinations for usernames and passwords, including using the last 8 digits of the serial number for the password, and attaching my laptop directly to the modem, AND NOTHING HAS WORKED.  Arris needs to address this issue, as I found many frustrated people posting online about having the same problem with this modem.  Thanks.

I just bought a new SB8200 to replace my DOCSIS 3.0 Modem and I don’t think what the status window is showing me is what I should be seeing. The downstream bonded channels are all QAM256, while the upstream channels are SC-QAM. On the front of the modem, the second light from the top is blue and the third is green.I was on the phone with Xfinity for almost an hour since they had trouble connecting to and they were finally able to provision it. When I asked them about what I was seeing on the status screen they told me it’s that way since it’s a customer-supplied modem, I don’t buy that answer.Channel ID Lock Status Modulation Frequency Power SNR/MER Corrected Uncorrectables 29 Locked QAM256

Currently connected via wireless to Arris Surfboard SB8200. I want to connect directly to modem via network cable but when I do that I get the message: Status-Connected; Ethernet has a self assigned IP address and will not be able to connect to the internet. Is there a setting I can change in the Modem to allow connectivity ?

Just installed SB8200 and activated port 1 through Cox.  Setup was smooth.  I also have Verizon Home 5G (Cox is unreliable) running with no conflict.  I know how to set pass thru for the 5G modem but need to know how to add the IP address to port 2 on the cable modem.  Cox refused to help.

I am currently getting several dropouts the past few days. I contacted Cox customer service and they stated that Arris has a firmware update for the Sb8200. I went to the site and found nothing. Can anyone please help me with this. Thanks in advanceMax

My ISP is Comcast/xfinity. I am using ARRIS Surfboard SB8200 DOCSIS 3.1  bridge mode. I have a  MikroTik RB2011UiAS-RM Routerboard Rackmount 5xLAN 5xGbit LAN 1xSFP connected to ARRIS Surfboard SB8200 DOCSIS 3.1.  Here is my issue the ARRIS Surfboard SB8200 is a Gig-e port. The RB2011UiAS will not connect to RB2011UiAS as a 1 Gig port. if I hard set the RB2011UiAS to 100 meg both units will connect, but dhcp will not work or pass traffic. Any suggestions.  

I cannot seem to get Google WIFI setup with the Arris SB8200

Looks like the firmware on my SB8200 was malfunctioning (long story, but trust me on this). Mediacom tech support told me to request Arris to update my firmware.According to what I’ve read in this Community, it seems like Mediacom should push any/all firmware updates to my SB8200.Related info: hardware reset in my SB8200 cleared up my issues.  So the firmware probably was trashed.Going forward, I would appreciate some informed input from y’all before I start getting after Mediacom.Thank you, Dave

Rebooted laptop, modem, and router -- drops still happening and garbling webex audio.Xfinity mobile app is not showing any indication of outages.Fast.com and speedtest.net always eventually revert to normal speed at round 85 Mbps, but still drops happening.On the SB8200 status screen, comparing expected values onhttps://arris.my.salesforce-sites.com/consumers/articles/General_FAQs/SB8200-Cable-Signal-Levelsto what I see, the one that stands out is upstream bonded channel power is at 37 or 38 for me:whereas the doc says acceptable is 45 - 51.

Modem just stopped working and couldn’t connect to internet. I had to borrow a loaner from my ISP but I’d much rather use my modem. I’m surprised because it was a new SB8200(had it less than three months) I keep searching around but can’t find somewhere to submit my  information for warranty. 

What does it mean when all the icon lights (Power, Receive, send, online) are a solid yellow, but I’m still connected to the internet?  I have a 400 Mbps plan and the is no drop in speed.Thanks,  

I have an Arris Surfboard Modem and it constantly reboots itself.It happens randomly throughout the day and its been happening for two weeks now. Sometimes it loops itself - so it will reboot, stay up for a couple minutes, power down and reboot again. Power cycling doesn't help.Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My upload was blue while my download was a green light, to be clear I still haven't activated my wifi to it yet so I don't know if that has to do anything with it but just wondering if this is just a normal thing anyways 

I just installed the SB8200 and it will not connect. Top 3 lights are solid green, and the bottom continues to flash green. I followed the instructions completely and still will not connect.

Hello. I just recently bought the SB 8200 modem. And somehow it asked me to download this app and it keeps asking me to log in but I don't know the login information and it doesn't give me a button to reset anything or ask for the information. Do I need this app at all? What is this app for? The only reason for me buying this modem is so I don't have to pay the rental fee through my Internet cable company. Any help is much appreciated.

I have Cox internet and they have tried rebooting my SB8200 5-6 times and it still shows a “Channel state error” from their end. How do I clear this error?  The Cox rep says it usually clears in 3-4 reboots. 

I have a macbook.  I purchased a thunderbolt to gigabit eathernet adaptor from apple.  What I am trying to do is to connect 1 rj45 cable to my router and connect the second rj45 cable to my macbook.  (i will turn off wifi on my macbook)  the reason I want to do this is, I purchased a nighthawk AX6 from netgear.  In talking to them, this is a new item and I have found software issues when using it where   I assign networks for each device, the network can change from netgear59 to netgear59-5g and it should not because I want to assign what is connected to my hardware because some hardware only supports 2.4  ghz vs 5 ghz.  in doing this, I can possibly the issue wth my router with netgear’s help.I am confused, do I need my isp to assign 2 ip adresses to use both connections on my modem or is that a dynamic assignment.  or do I only need one ip address for my modem and even though I have 2 rj45 connections in the back of my router and using one conection for my router and the se
