SB8200

A little background first - my COX account is for 500 Mbps, and with theGateway speed tests on the COX website were somewhat greater than 500 Mbps.  However, we experienced daily issues with the WiFi, having to reboot theGateway at least once almost every day.  Our laptops and other deviceswould lose connection fairly frequently.So, I recently replaced my COX Panoramic Gateway with an Arris SB8200cable modem connecting to a TP-Link Deco X55 (AX3000) mesh system (3 nodes).  The setup was easy and our devices don't seem to have any issues connecting.However, download speed tests are now showing 80 Mbps (upload ~10 Mbps).  A wired test with my laptop connected directly to a Deco node showed onlya slightly higher download speed of 85 Mbps.According to COX my modem was provisioned properly and it all looks good on their end.So I sent a detailed report to TP-Link support, including allinformation they request

Just installed SB8200 and activated port 1 through Cox.  Setup was smooth.  I also have Verizon Home 5G (Cox is unreliable) running with no conflict.  I know how to set pass thru for the 5G modem but need to know how to add the IP address to port 2 on the cable modem.  Cox refused to help.

I am currently getting several dropouts the past few days. I contacted Cox customer service and they stated that Arris has a firmware update for the Sb8200. I went to the site and found nothing. Can anyone please help me with this. Thanks in advanceMax

My ISP is Comcast/xfinity. I am using ARRIS Surfboard SB8200 DOCSIS 3.1  bridge mode. I have a  MikroTik RB2011UiAS-RM Routerboard Rackmount 5xLAN 5xGbit LAN 1xSFP connected to ARRIS Surfboard SB8200 DOCSIS 3.1.  Here is my issue the ARRIS Surfboard SB8200 is a Gig-e port. The RB2011UiAS will not connect to RB2011UiAS as a 1 Gig port. if I hard set the RB2011UiAS to 100 meg both units will connect, but dhcp will not work or pass traffic. Any suggestions.  

I cannot seem to get Google WIFI setup with the Arris SB8200

Looks like the firmware on my SB8200 was malfunctioning (long story, but trust me on this). Mediacom tech support told me to request Arris to update my firmware.According to what I’ve read in this Community, it seems like Mediacom should push any/all firmware updates to my SB8200.Related info: hardware reset in my SB8200 cleared up my issues.  So the firmware probably was trashed.Going forward, I would appreciate some informed input from y’all before I start getting after Mediacom.Thank you, Dave

Rebooted laptop, modem, and router -- drops still happening and garbling webex audio.Xfinity mobile app is not showing any indication of outages.Fast.com and speedtest.net always eventually revert to normal speed at round 85 Mbps, but still drops happening.On the SB8200 status screen, comparing expected values onhttps://arris.my.salesforce-sites.com/consumers/articles/General_FAQs/SB8200-Cable-Signal-Levelsto what I see, the one that stands out is upstream bonded channel power is at 37 or 38 for me:whereas the doc says acceptable is 45 - 51.

Modem just stopped working and couldn’t connect to internet. I had to borrow a loaner from my ISP but I’d much rather use my modem. I’m surprised because it was a new SB8200(had it less than three months) I keep searching around but can’t find somewhere to submit my  information for warranty. 

What does it mean when all the icon lights (Power, Receive, send, online) are a solid yellow, but I’m still connected to the internet?  I have a 400 Mbps plan and the is no drop in speed.Thanks,  

I have an Arris Surfboard Modem and it constantly reboots itself.It happens randomly throughout the day and its been happening for two weeks now. Sometimes it loops itself - so it will reboot, stay up for a couple minutes, power down and reboot again. Power cycling doesn't help.Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My upload was blue while my download was a green light, to be clear I still haven't activated my wifi to it yet so I don't know if that has to do anything with it but just wondering if this is just a normal thing anyways 

I just installed the SB8200 and it will not connect. Top 3 lights are solid green, and the bottom continues to flash green. I followed the instructions completely and still will not connect.

Hello. I just recently bought the SB 8200 modem. And somehow it asked me to download this app and it keeps asking me to log in but I don't know the login information and it doesn't give me a button to reset anything or ask for the information. Do I need this app at all? What is this app for? The only reason for me buying this modem is so I don't have to pay the rental fee through my Internet cable company. Any help is much appreciated.

I have Cox internet and they have tried rebooting my SB8200 5-6 times and it still shows a “Channel state error” from their end. How do I clear this error?  The Cox rep says it usually clears in 3-4 reboots. 

I have a macbook.  I purchased a thunderbolt to gigabit eathernet adaptor from apple.  What I am trying to do is to connect 1 rj45 cable to my router and connect the second rj45 cable to my macbook.  (i will turn off wifi on my macbook)  the reason I want to do this is, I purchased a nighthawk AX6 from netgear.  In talking to them, this is a new item and I have found software issues when using it where   I assign networks for each device, the network can change from netgear59 to netgear59-5g and it should not because I want to assign what is connected to my hardware because some hardware only supports 2.4  ghz vs 5 ghz.  in doing this, I can possibly the issue wth my router with netgear’s help.I am confused, do I need my isp to assign 2 ip adresses to use both connections on my modem or is that a dynamic assignment.  or do I only need one ip address for my modem and even though I have 2 rj45 connections in the back of my router and using one conection for my router and the se

I purchased a new SB8200 to upgrade from Cox 500mbps service to Cox Gigablast. Cox confirmed that my modem was supported.  After installation, I contacted Cox to provision my modem.  After provisioning, I was still only receiving 500 mbps.  A service tech was sent to the house. All cabling between the box on the street to the modem was replaced. There is only one splitter that connects a modem for Cox landline phone. The service tech confirmed that a 1.1 gig signal was present at the modem, but only 500 mbps leaving the modem via ethernet connection. The modem was reset, hard reset, and re-provisioned multiple times with no success. Cox is blaming the modem since it was not provided by them. I have accessed the modem online and confirmed that everything looks normal.  There are 32+2 downstream channels and SNR and power levels appear to be within spec. The event log shows some CM status messages (16 and 24) and the occasional DHCP renew warning. I don’t think there’s anything wrong

I purchased a new SB8200 to upgrad from 500 mbps to Cox Gigablast internet.  This modem is on Cox’s approved list for Gigablast internet. Cox tech support provisioned the modem but speeds remained at 500 mbps. A technician was sent to the house.  The technician ran new cable from the street to the house and confirmed that 1.1 gig was arriving to the modem, but only 500 mbps coming from the modem.  Technician performed multiple resets, hard resets, and provisions with no success. Cox is now blaming the modem for the issue. I’m skeptical.  Any help you can provide would be appreciated. Modem diagnostics below. Is there an official publicized place by Arris that states what the latest firmware version is? Specifically, I have a Surfboard SB8200. What is the latest software/firmware version for the SB8200 modem? I understand that it is the responsibility of my ISP to update the firmware of my modem. However, I would like to know what the latest version is so that I can keep my ISP honest and accountable.

Do I need to register my new Arris SB8200 modem? 

 am trying to reinstall my sb8200 from several month ago.... i can not sign into gui....i see most of this provlem is solved by resetting and entering defaults and i tried several times but i can not sign into 192.168.100.1........Please help thank you. i just want to try the WAN aggregation is there another way other than the gui?thank you in advance 

Well I did research on modems and the SB8200 kept saying it was a great modem (my old modem was a Arris).  I guess I should have went with the statement that costumer service was VERY weak. Every time I call, call can't be completed. Anyway I can not log into the router. I put in address and prompted to enter admin and password and it keeps saying wrong info. I have tried to use password and also the last 8 digits. Still no avail. Any help would be appreciated.  If can't get it password protected I guess I will have to return it.

Using 192.168.100.1 login is rejected.  Reset the modem with a paper clip and tried “admin” and “password” but they’re repeatedly rejected as invalid username or password.   Any idea how to access modem settings?   Thanks.

According to Cox Internet, I need to “enable” IPv6 on my modem using the Admin console.Unfortunately, the “official” documentation they sent me (https://routerexperts.net/arris-router-enable-ipv6/) seems non-applicable to the situation.The online /phone /chat support drones can’t seem to understand how to even spell IPv6, they just keep saying that _I_ have to configure it on my end.Can anyone help with documentation links or other tips /tricks for figuring out what range and prefix is being advertised to my modem?

I have a new modem on Optimum 400mb service.  My older modem registered fine but the new 8200 is not picking up DOCSIS 3.1 even though the provider says it is being used.  How do you resolve this.  Support telephone number is useless!
