SB8200

I purchased a new SB8200 to upgrade from Cox 500mbps service to Cox Gigablast. Cox confirmed that my modem was supported.  After installation, I contacted Cox to provision my modem.  After provisioning, I was still only receiving 500 mbps.  A service tech was sent to the house. All cabling between the box on the street to the modem was replaced. There is only one splitter that connects a modem for Cox landline phone. The service tech confirmed that a 1.1 gig signal was present at the modem, but only 500 mbps leaving the modem via ethernet connection. The modem was reset, hard reset, and re-provisioned multiple times with no success. Cox is blaming the modem since it was not provided by them. I have accessed the modem online and confirmed that everything looks normal.  There are 32+2 downstream channels and SNR and power levels appear to be within spec. The event log shows some CM status messages (16 and 24) and the occasional DHCP renew warning. I don’t think there’s anything wrong

Cox tech support provisioned the modem but speeds remained at 500 mbps. A technician was sent to the house.  The technician ran new cable from the street to the house and confirmed that 1.1 gig was arriving to the modem, but only 500 mbps coming from the modem.  Technician performed multiple resets, hard resets, and provisions with no success. Cox is now blaming the modem for the issue. I’m skeptical.  Any help you can provide would be appreciated. Modem diagnostics below. Is there an official publicized place by Arris that states what the latest firmware version is? Specifically, I have a Surfboard SB8200. What is the latest software/firmware version for the SB8200 modem? I understand that it is the responsibility of my ISP to update the firmware of my modem. However, I would like to know what the latest version is so that I can keep my ISP honest and accountable.

Do I need to register my new Arris SB8200 modem? 

 am trying to reinstall my sb8200 from several month ago.... i can not sign into gui....i see most of this provlem is solved by resetting and entering defaults and i tried several times but i can not sign into 192.168.100.1........Please help thank you. i just want to try the WAN aggregation is there another way other than the gui?thank you in advance 

Well I did research on modems and the SB8200 kept saying it was a great modem (my old modem was a Arris).  I guess I should have went with the statement that costumer service was VERY weak. Every time I call, call can't be completed. Anyway I can not log into the router. I put in address and prompted to enter admin and password and it keeps saying wrong info. I have tried to use password and also the last 8 digits. Still no avail. Any help would be appreciated.  If can't get it password protected I guess I will have to return it.

Using 192.168.100.1 login is rejected.  Reset the modem with a paper clip and tried “admin” and “password” but they’re repeatedly rejected as invalid username or password.   Any idea how to access modem settings?   Thanks.

According to Cox Internet, I need to “enable” IPv6 on my modem using the Admin console.Unfortunately, the “official” documentation they sent me (https://routerexperts.net/arris-router-enable-ipv6/) seems non-applicable to the situation.The online /phone /chat support drones can’t seem to understand how to even spell IPv6, they just keep saying that _I_ have to configure it on my end.Can anyone help with documentation links or other tips /tricks for figuring out what range and prefix is being advertised to my modem?

I have a new modem on Optimum 400mb service.  My older modem registered fine but the new 8200 is not picking up DOCSIS 3.1 even though the provider says it is being used.  How do you resolve this.  Support telephone number is useless! 

Wi-Fi is not showing after activation 

I have xfinity and using a SB8200 and a TP-Link AX3000 besides for Wi-FI I also have the 2 laptops and an TV connected to the AX3000 My Wi-Fi is going from 800Mbps to ZERO randomly and frequently , even after I run reboots on both the SB8200 and the AX3000. all firware is up to date. Please note that the devices connected to the AX3000 continue to run strong even when there’s no Wi-Fi this is the 3rd router I’ve had this happen to in the past 2 years so i’m thinking it’s not the router any longer. Has anyone had this experience  with an SB?

I’m using Spectrum as my ISP.  I use a SB8200 modem.  As of this morning, internet through my wifi stopped working.  When I run directly from the modem to my laptop via ethernet, I’m able to get internet without a problem.  I did all the routine steps to cycle both modem and router, including factory restoring both.  And I tried 3 different cables between the modem and router.  I figured the router (Linksys EA8300) must be the problem, so I went out and bought a new router (Netgear Nighthawk RAXE300).  Same problem.  WiFi works fine, but no internet.The router shows a solid red internet light, indicating it’s detected the connection but isn’t receiving internet connection.  I’m struggling to understand how going to my pc through the same LAN port, I get internet.  Connecting to the router it does not recognize the internet connection.  What am I missing? My family is losing their collective minds.  Any ideas? 

I understand it’s possible to find browser history on my router.  Can someone tell me where I could find this on my Arris router?  I’ve clicked through every where I know to look but can’t find it.  It says I have a DG 3450A? Thanks!

So i have a issue. Im on 3.1 dosis mode with my provider and they keep telling me to update my modem which is the sb8200. Or contact the company about it which is why im here. I get 1 blue light when is the downstream. And the upstream is green which makes no sense . I pay for a gig down and 105 up. Im only getting 60 upload. I could buy another one to see what happens its been a few year but yea

My SB8200 is connecting to my new router, but is not giving it a new IP address.  How do I activate the external router provision on the modem?

I was on wih Xfinity tech support today because for quite a while I am not getting anywhere near my availble speed which should be around 1 GB. I get anywhere from 300-600 Mbs.  They are telling me i need to update the firmware on my modem. Its not even 2 ½ years old and I bought this model specificially to meet my needs for gigibit speeds. Additiaonlly there doesnt seem to be an available firmware update. So my questions are;1. should I need to update firmware for a device that should already have gig speed?2. Is xfinity blowing smoke?3. Is there firware available that I am not seeing?Thanks 

My ISP claims that its service disruption is limited to a couple of events between December, 2022 and January, 2023.  My experience of problems with internet connections is far more frequent than that.The event log available on the modem’s web page is overwriting more recent events, but there is a persistent error that repeats, in conjunction with other error(4) messages:"SW upgrade Failed after download - Incompatible SW file"  When this happens, my internet connection is lost, and often my Arris Mesh network becomes unavailable as well.  I’ve talked to my ISP technical representatives about this.  They have no interest at all in helping figure what might be going on between the modem and the local whole house wifi.  So much for the event log being important to the ISP.  That might be true if the ISP is supporting this model of modem and renting it out.Question 1:  If I interpret this event as one where Ar

I Installed a new SB8200 on my network today.  Everything is fine with the internet.  It’s nice and fast.  However, I have 3 cable boxes.  We’re not talking smart TVs.  It’s cable boxes connected with coax.  The picture on all 3 is super choppy and pixelated ever since installing the cable modem. Seems like there should be no connection, since the TVs are not reliant on the internet for their programming.  However, I did some testing.  The second I turn off the SB8200, the cable picture clears up.  As soon as I plug the modem back in, the picture on all 3 pixelates again.  There is no question that the cable modem is causing interference on my cable TV picture.is there any way to fix this?  Other than returning my new modem and putting my old modem back in play? 

Should the RECEIVE led light ideally always be blue or is it normal to sometimes be green? Sometimes it changes to green meaning it’s in DOCSIS 3.0, and stays there until i power cycle the modem. Is this less than ideal? Does this indicate a problem with the coaxial line

Why can't I access sb8200 web management using wifi. Is it because my wifi network is 192.168. 0.n and the modem address is 192.168. 100.1?If so, anyway to assign the modem an address in my wifi subnet? 

I activated my Arris SB8200 on Xfinity yesterday. It's not updating the firmware. I've restarted the modem at least 6 times. My Software Version is      D31CM-PEREGRINE-1.1.1.0-GA-11-NOSH. The current version seems to be AB01.02.053.05_051921_193.0A.NSH. Why isn't it updating? I also noticed there’s no Advanced tab in the menu bar.   

I have been trying, unsuccessfully, to get to the admin page. I did a factory reset, and the instructions say to enter the last 8 digits of the serial number as the password, however, the first two of the eight are letters and not digits. Does this mean I’m not allowed to access the admin page? 

Where is the sb8200 manual? 

I Purchased an SB8200. So like any modem I connect the  coaxial cable and power it up. The modem starts to load and  all lights go on.  Then shutsdown and starts the process over again. Disconnect the coaxial and all the lights stay green and steady. Any idea what going on? My ISP is spectrum. I have not contacted them since i cannot get it started up.
