Are any software updates ever created for my Wi-Fi cable modem/router ARRIS SBG8300?How often should I replace my router/cable modem for security sake? The model I am using now I purchased in 2020 would it be out of date?

Hi everyone! I’m considering upgrading my modem/router with an Arris product. I was wondering if it was possible to purchase an extended warranty so I can be covered in case of an issue beyond the first year. If so, how much does it cost?

Just swapped out my old Netgear C7000v2 to a new Arris G34.  I have an Optimum 1,000 mbps line (Sadly not fiber optic) that supports both DOCSIS 3.1 and wifi 6.  On setup my new Modem light sequence is amber at first, then when trying to connect to the ISP it is flashing blue which means it is looked for a DOCSIS 3.1 connection.  It apparently fails to connect so then starts a flashing green light and connects to DOCSIS 3.0  Any ideas on how to get it to connect to DOCSIS 3.1  I’ve tried both resetting and rebooting.  

What does it mean when all the icon lights (Power, Receive, send, online) are a solid yellow, but I’m still connected to the internet?  I have a 400 Mbps plan and the is no drop in speed.Thanks,  

I reset modem once again. Put the PW I want to use. Now AGAIN just like with all my modems I cannot get past the PW to get into modem. The guy on phone at Arris said I could. But User ID was the same Admin. Its something I must be missing can anyone help! I did reset to factory settings two times still no joy! I have been trying and trying to log into my Arris Modem and Router. I have reset both numerous times and still get invalid user id password error message.Like the performance of the Arris modem and router, but it has been true disappointing pain trying to log into the modem and router to change default username & password for more security. I would also look at other settings, etc.Looking at others questions and comment this must be a pain for many users!I have used Netgear products in the past and never had issues like this logging into the router, etc.Arris you should be better than this!

Hello everyone! Have been looking all over the internet and I can’t find an answer. My modem’s power supply stopped working today after almost one year of usage so I know it’s not age related. used my multimeter and it was reading 5V so I knew my power supply failed. I got a new AC universal adapter with the required 12V A1.3 and nothing. No power whats so ever. I checked on every outlet. Found a random backup power supply with the 12V A1.0 and still nothing!! I’m losing my mind I can’t afford to buy a new one. Please let me know if y’all have any similar stories or solutions thank you!!

Will the G36 allow the 2.5GB port to be connected to a PC and one of the four 1.0GB ports connected to a mesh system, switch, etc.?   On older Arris modems such as the S33 you cannot use the 2.5GB port and the 1.0GB port simultaneously.  Is the G36 different since it has 4 1.0GB ports. 

When my Roku TV is connected to WiFi I can screen mirrior my iPhone. If I connect it via LAN (preferred) it does not work. Had the same problem with POE devices in the house. They would not connect without rebooting which forced me to go on wifi. Tried to play with some firewall settings but unsure what could be causing this. Xfinity Gig internet. Thanks for the help.

Ever since I installed my Arris G36, my telnet connection drops after about 10 minutes. Is there any setting I should change to prevent this?Thanks.

The transmit light, which should be solid blue to indicate bonding, is solid green.  I cannot find a reference to what this means with respects to the transmit/receive lights. Please advise.

I need to be able to change the default Username of my Arris SBG8300 Gateway from "admin" to something else. How do I do this?

My upload was blue while my download was a green light, to be clear I still haven't activated my wifi to it yet so I don't know if that has to do anything with it but just wondering if this is just a normal thing anyways 

Hi all. I have the SBG10 modem with Xfinity internet service. Have had this for a year with not many issues. About three months ago we purchased a WiFi extender to put downstairs as the Apple TV kept disconnecting.  However in the last week all of our devices keep intermittently dropping off. The downstairs TV will be fine but the upstairs won’t connect. I’m getting kicked out of Teams meetings constantly around the same time each day. We’ve contacted Xfinity who say things are fine on their end, and disconnected the modem so many times.  Can anyone advise on next steps? I see people posting logs, but I’m not even sure how to access those. Thanks in advance. 

I just got an Arris SURFboard G34. I have a Google Chromecast and a desktop computer connected to the G34 using Ethernet. Both can access the Internet. However, if I use Chrome to Cast, it says "No devices found". I tried turning off the G34's firewall. Device Discovery is enabled. I also tried enabling Zero Config. If I plug my old ASUS RT-AC55U router into the G34, and plug the computer and Chromecast into the ASUS, then Cast finds the Chromecast and casting works.

How do I use my SBG7580 as an access point

According to a SB6190 related post, the firmware on a SB6190  DOCSIS 3.0 cannot be updated or upgraded to  DOCSIS 3.1. Therefore, before I (waste) spend any more $$$, I’d like to know if the firmware for any currently available SB  DOCSIS 3.1 cable modems are capable of being updated by the user, NOT the ISP? I already have strongly negative feelings for the ISP I am subjected to, and would like to remove as much control  they have over my hardware, at least until a competing ISP is available in my area.TIA,Umrk.

Just need the default password for the SB6190 have done the master reset.. but still need the password.all the lights flash.. everything is good…. just can't login … looked all over this site and have not seen this info. there is not sticker. Used unit. have tried last 8 of serial number, password, 12345678… ect..any other ideas ???? HELP PLEASE LOL  

Unable to login in with default admin username and password. Keep getting Invalid user name or password, or your access has been locked due to multiple failed login attempts! I can admit, i went in a changed the names and passwords for the network and saved changes before changing the admin login credentials. Also, the router came with 4 connection options (2 standard and 2 5G- one for home and guest each). However, the site only allowed ne the option to change two and the other two are still available with the default names and default password.  Any suggestions to access and manage my router through the admin portal?

Using 192.168.100.1 login is rejected.  Reset the modem with a paper clip and tried “admin” and “password” but they’re repeatedly rejected as invalid username or password.   Any idea how to access modem settings?   Thanks.

Wi-Fi is not showing after activation 

If I try to load the ARRIS SB6190 Web Manager Access page 192.168.100.1 I get "403 Forbidden" (tried multiple browsers). I’m assuming that when xfinity reprovisioned for internet access, it locked me out from looking at or making any changes to the modem’s configuration? Does that sound right? Currently, my ISP speeds are about 1% of what they had been (using the same modem) up until now (download 0.5Mbps vs 89.3Mbps). I am testing the speed with the modem connected directly to my PC (ethernet cable). I’m about to use the RESET button on the back of my SB6190 (which is what was recommended to me once before by ARRIS for an earlier Surfboard modem I was using that had a similar problem). After the reset, I plan to used the xfinity mobile app to  reprovision for internet access. Does that also sound right? Thanks.
