Greetings,Brand new s34 and registered, activated with Cox existing service. The WAN syncs up, no problem. I am being careful to use only one ethernet port. According to my service plan.  Now if there is no WAN, the router stays on 192.168.100.1. once the DOCSIS connection is available, the strangest thing happens: the cable modem assigns private IPv4 network from the range of 172.16.169.0/27, for example: notebook receives 172.16.169.113; gateway of 172.16.169.97; netmask is 255.255.255.224. No IPv6 assignments. My Chromebook device is assigned one address, and the gateway router is listed under another address in the same network. But there is no internet access, and the despite the lights being blue, and no longer can connect to the modem on its management interface due to change in IPV4 addresses.  So I don't understand where a DHCP assignment could come with private IP addresses. I was looking at starting to use a VPN for all my devices connected to my wifi. It seems the best way to do this is if the modem supports either OpenVPN or WireGuard as a client (instead of as a server). Does anyone know if this is true of Surfboard modems? I do have a Google router connected which is what my home devices use for Internet connection.

I have been working with Spectrum regarding internet drops. Spectrum Rep. suggested that the modem/router needs an update. Spectrum cannot update the software on any other modem then theirs. Is there an update for this model?  Has anyone else had this issue? Thank you.

I’ve already factory reset the 🤬 thing twice. Bought it brand new on Friday. I’ve been trying to set it up and the “Surfboard App” on my phone is ridiculous. I’ve got it somewhat up and running - it’s what I’m using to post this query. But…The “app” on my Android phone keeps disconnecting from the network. Despite the fact it says it’s connected to the network. Switching between screens on the app takes a literal minute - 60 seconds. The “parental controls” aren’t controlling a thing. Currently this desktop is supposed to be “paused” from accessing the internet.I did rename the Wi-Fi gateways and the passwords, but everything says its connected to the new networks. Seriously, how is this computer connected? WHY is this computer connected when it’s supposed to be paused? I’m about to return it and look for a different brand, unless someone can help. Thanks in advance.

Hi, I’m completely new to networking, so this might be a basic question, but I couldn’t find an answer online.I currently use Spectrum as my ISP. My setup is: Spectrum Modem → Spectrum Router → Switch → ARRIS Surfboard WC4S Mesh Router. Both the Spectrum router and the Mesh router are creating their own networks.When I check my IP on the Spectrum router’s Wi-Fi, it shows **76.33.184.xx**, but on the Mesh network, it shows **47.152.20.1xx**. My modem has the same IP as the Spectrum router.Ideally, I don’t want to use the Spectrum router, but I need it to access the full channel lineup on the Spectrum TV app, which only works on the Spectrum home network. For some reason, the Mesh router is giving me an IP that appears to be from Frontier Internet. Now this page: https://arris.my.salesforce-sites.com/consumers/articles/knowledge/SBG8300-Web-Manager-First-Time-Login says there was a redirect page. Great, that never happened. Now this topic right here:  says it’s the same as the app. Except the app doesn’t have a password. I tap logout, I tap login, I’m logged in. No password.So what the heck?

Recently got a refurbished SB8200.  Works great, stunning increase in speed over ethernet (50 to 170 Mbits per Speedtest.net)Less love for the brightness of the indicator LEDs.Apparently version 2 of this modem has the ability to change how the LEDs are displayed.  Sadly no LED dimmer function but having them turned of either all the time or when working normally would be appreciated.I assume I have v1 which does not have that functionality.How can I get a v2 modem? Is there away to determine by serial numbers? Maybe there is a firmware upgrade?If anyone has an answer I would appreciate it.Thanks - Jef

Been using my Surfboard SBG8300 modem and router for 4-5 years with no issue. Over night, the modem-router stopped allowing a connection to the internet. Both lights on the surfboard are solid green. I have no problem accessing the admin panel. When I go into the admin panel, it notes that WAN internet is inactive.  Tried restarting, power cycling and a full factory reset.  ISP is Optimum and we have a 500mb plan. ISP said it is likely an issue with the modem-router and it will likely need to be replaced, but is sending out a tech tomorrow. Any other troubleshooting I can do/any thoughts on what might be the issue? 

Hi!  I have a new Arris G20 Surfboard Wi-Fi Cable Modem, I have been able to add all of my phones and laptops to the Wi-Fi, but not my HP Envy 4500 printer.  I get the message your HP printer is unable to connect to your wireless router, and that I must add the MAC address of my printer to the list of permitted devices for my wireless router.  How do I do that?  Melanie

Two routers...Router A (Arris TG3452A) ISP internet 192.168.0.1 No endpoints (other than Router B) connectedRouter B (tp-link Archer AX11000) Internal router 192.168.1.1 All internal endpoints connectedRouter B gets IP address from Router A Router B uses Router A as gatewayOther than Router A providing a static IP to Router B and Router B using Router A as the gateway, I can't see any way to add any further configuration to Router A that would allow for a NAT forwarder to work for Router B.  Would like to be able to add a port forward on Router A for an endpoint on Router B ,but Router A states IP address is invalid (because it's not in the same subnet).Can this be accomplished? I cannot log into the admin interface, even after performing a reset. Several months ago, I lost connection to my wifi suddenly.  It wasn’t an issue with my provider.  I realized that my wifi name was showing up as the factory name, not the name I’d given it.  I discovered I could use the factory default password and I was able to connect all my devices using that, but since then I haven’t been able to log into the admin interface.  I’d like to change my network name and password.  I tried doing a reset to see if that would allow me to use the default login credential and it still won’t work. What can I do to get into the admin interface to change the password and network name?

Hi. I’m being pulled around by Xfinity support telling me I cannot receive higher upload speeds since my S34 is actually S34v1 that has not been certified by Xfinity. I can find nothing relating to S34v1 versus S34. Xfinity will not provide me any documentation of their claim. Is Xfinity telling me the truth?

Using Cox cable, SB8200 modem works at 600mbps+ then slows to 20mbps.  Rebooting the modem and checking the speed results in 600+mbps for less than a minute until it slows again.

All of a sudden I am unable to access the website (because it times out) for my email.  I had no problem since I had the SBG8300 which I bought July 2023 until a couple days ago.  The website for my email provider PA.NET is webmail.pa.net.  After I installed a VPN (Nord VPN) I can access the website.  Comcast is my internet provider.  I checked with them and they saw no problems.  I checked with PA.NET and they could not find any problem.  I can get my email using comcast as a internet provider with no problem. I can get the email using Verizon on my cell phone when using only Verizon as the provider.  When I use comcast through the SBG8300 on my cell phone the email times out.  I use wireless WIFI.  I tried hooking the computer directly to the SBG8300 and still had the same problem.  I have tried 3 different computer and they all had the same problem.The only thing common with this problem is the SBG8300.I would appreciate if you could help me find a solution to this problem.I can be

The Surfboard Central app has recommendation for network health.  It indicatess some devices are connected with a low signal strength.  Some listed devices are hardwired via ethernet cable.  How can they havee a low signal strehgth??

I have a SB8200v3 successfully connected to Xfinity/Comcast. All is working and good.I saw that there is a SURFboard Central app for connecting to the SB8200v3.Bluetooth is enabled and works, and I am close by the SB8200v3 device.I enter my email address, receive the code, and validate the code. However, the SURFboard Central app displays a “spinning circle” indicating to wait and never completes. I have waited 20 minutes to see if anything would happen.Is this happening because my device is already set up and working with Xfinity?If so, what would be the purpose of having the SURFboard Central app installed on my phone?What does this app let you do?

Xfinity said our Arris modem is only pushing out 800 mbps.  Our back video camera fails based on the strength of the signal from the modem.  Xfinity suggests we need a modem that can push out the 1100 mbps.  Tested the video strength on the back camera which is 70 as compared to the front camera which is 84.  Would appreciate keeping the Arris, we have been happy with our current unit.  Our current Arris unit is SBG7400AC2 Thanks

Had trouble with Wi-Fi dropping the last few days. Comcast tells me that I need a firmware update and wanted to end a tech out to make sure that is the issue for $100.00 as I own my own modem. Talked to Comcast this morning, and requested that they push it out to my modem, and they told me that I have to download and install myself as I own the modem. Any research on the internet is indicating that Comcast needs to push it out.What is the truth?Thanks

I am trying to set up an Arris S33 with Liveoak fiber internet service and the unit never stops blinking green. tried resetting it twice and it only goes back to flashing green. doesn’t go into pair mode or set up mode.

My SGB10 modem is connecting to all my devices except my Chromebook book. My Chromebook keeps saying the network is out of range but the modem is only 4ft away from the Chromebook. I have Xfinity Wi-Fi, my fire stick, Roku and phone are all able to connect to the Wi-Fi. I bought a USB wireless adapter that goes up to 6g but still the Chromebook will not connect.
