Wi-Fi Modems

Hello,I recently had to reinstall the App, and it now wants me to activate and set up my ARRIS G36 modem-router and ARRIS Mesh W121.  This is all set up and operating fine, but the App is stuck on activating new equipment.  Does anyone know how to bypass this on App so I can see my network operations?Any recommendations would be great. Sincerely, 

SBG8300 first time activated with provider, no internet access. Sevice rep came to house checked all and says his part is all good. Still no internet. Why?

WiFi drops out at any time and reconnects the same way 

I can not connect to the Internet. It says no Internet 

My original G34 was losing wifi  and hardwire connection daily. I think constantly having to reset caused the button to go bad. I just got a replacement router this week. Now I’m back in the same situation of losing wifi and connection. Before I do a reset sometimes the administrator console will never connect. Before the reset I often have to wait 10 - 20 minutes for it to respond until I reset which will speed things up, but only for a few hours. I only have a couple of wifi devices. Almost everything is network wired. My provider is Spectrum. I’m beginning to suspect there is an incompatibility with the router. Our jobs rely on a reliable router. This router is acting just like the first one. I’m digging into the logs now. there are a few IP6 critical errors. I was going to get support involved but I can’t have the interference during the day. Any first suggestions? Keeps dropping internet

I can’t get my ring doorbell to work with my Arris SBG8300. It won’t connect at all to the network. I have tried to edit any of my router settings that seem like they might make a difference all to no avail. If anyone has a clue on how to resolve, would be much appreciated. 

G36 drops Wifi connection on all devices daily. Ethernet connected device remain connected to internet? Not and ISP or internet issue I have called for help and they did some troubleshooting, and told me to give it 24 hours and to call back with case number if the problem happens again. However it is 6 hours later and now none of the wifi networks are visible. They show active and working in the arris modem/router portal.. But no network is findable.Every time I search this issue no one has a solution. Just tells the customer to reboot or some lame simple solution that does not work. I should not have to reboot my device on a daily basis. It is 2 weeks since I purchased this item and I have had this issue since I bought it. Either solve this issue or say you can’t so I can return it ASAP. No more lame simple technical troubleshooting. It is not on the ISP end. that should be obvious if you have been reading. It is clear it is on the modem/router end.

i have configured port forwarding successfully in one instance, but have tried to open two ports needed for my NAS and have not had success despite following the instructions at https://arris.my.salesforce-sites.com/consumers/articles/General_FAQs/SBG8300-Port-Forwarding-Setupit’s not clear what the Service Type should be set to and i tried a couple different ones with no luck. .   any suggestions on what to try next?

After finally getting the Port Forwarding to work again (after firmware update) now I seem to have another issue.  At random times, the 5GHz just “disappears”.  The SSID does not show up in any devices in order to connect.  The 2.4GHz SSID still shows up during these times.  When I login to the router web configuration, it shows that both wifi bands are good (green checkmarks next to them)After continuously messing with this unit for about 5-6 days after the firmware update, I left the Wifi settings to the default (See photo below)DEFAULT SETTINGSNot sure if going back to the Manual channel settings (like I previously did) will solve this.I would occasionally have some slow connection speeds that way, but it wouldn’t just “disappear”.Using a wifi analyzer, it appears that other people’s wifi a

  Hello I was wondering if there was a way for me to track my data usage? I’m using the G36, and I’ve got the surfboard app. My internet provider is claiming that we’ve used disproportionate amounts of data. It seems no matter what we do we always go over the limit and get charged extra, I even added an extra 500G to my plan and we still go over. Our internet habits have changed since the original overcharge, we stream movies way less, which according to Cox was the main culprit. After doing some research people were saying Cox has been known to do this, and after being shown the ACTUAL amount of data used via the owners modem/router provider, they’ll fix themselves and stop trying to scam you. Could be BS I just read on the internet, but I figured it’s worth a shot. Sorry if that was a tangent, but any help would be greatly appreciated!

Both the secondary and Guest Wifi have different subnets- 192.168.26.1-x and 192.168.28.1-x. The Login page is accessible through the above (192.168.26.1 and 192.168.28.1).My main gateway goes to a different router for dhcp etc., and I want to have similar settings for the two above.However, the login/ password that I’ve set for the main page does not work for these. I’ve already tried the admin/cusadmin + password too without luck.

The two are connected. My Galaxy S22’s  Wi-FI  is showing “Connected”. It is asking for a Password. These passwords didn’t work: 1. Security Key from Optimum 2. SN on the back of the EX7300.What Wi-FI password do I use for the EX7300 login?  

I just installed the G36 and got the Surboard app working. When I log into the management app using a web browser, the password does not work. The only password I’ve entered during the setup process is the password listed on the back of the ARRIS Quick Start Guide and the Wifi password, nothing else. And yet, when I try to login, I get password failed error.  What’s going on? I saw an article about resetting to the factory setting but this requires having Comcast re-provisioning which was a nightmare. That process took three calls into Support and multiple hours.  What else can be done to reset the password?

I no little about modems and routers just curious if my existing surfboard (SBG6782-AC) is outdated and any suggestions on an alternative and what would be the bennefits of upgrading .PS: I have infinity cable so my existing router/wifi is compatible .

Hello,  3 days ago around midnight, we lost everything with Cox, Cable, and the internet both went dead. The next day cable was back so we reset the SG8300 and the internet came back.  Now for the past 2 days, almost like clockwork, we lose the internet every 2 hours (but cable still works).  My wife works remotely & is kicked out of meetings, I’m taking college and it’s kicking me out of my classes.       We called Cox several times, and their only answers are to give them more money: They want me to a) pay ~$90 for a tech visit, b) start renting their modem for $13/mo, or c) increase my Cox “tier” an additional $10/mo so I can talk to someone besides the “is your modem plugged in?” person.  They are trying to tell me my SG8300 is “too old” because it’s 2 yrs old, but when the internet is working, everything checks out good.      What else can I try?

How do I change the SS ID name and the Wi-Fi password?

Just bought a G36 on eBay. It came with someone else's settings so I factory reset it. I was able to get WiFi to work just fine but the Ethernet doesn't work quite right. I am able to access YouTube and Google over Ethernet but almost nothing else.

How come when I try to change my Ethernet speed to 1000mbs it always revert back to 10mbs in the router setting?

We purchased a kiln with a smart controller. We haven’t been able to connect the controller to our wifi, so we emailed the controller tech support team. They advised us the controller cannot connect to WPA3, it can only connect to WPA2. I was able to change the security type to WPA2 on the web interface, but the Surfboard app on my phone still shows it’s connected with WPA2/WPA3 Mixed. I still cannot get the controller to connect. I tried changing the security on the app, but nothing happens. Which is accurate, the web interface or the app? If the app is accurate, how can I get this fixed?

First off, the router (SBG7600AC2) is working fine.  I had a problem last night, which caused me to try and open the Legacy app on my phone.  It instructed me to download the new Central app -- which I did.  When trying to get things going with the new app, it asks me to log in or create a new app.  I enter in my email, and it tells me I have an existing account with that email (that makes sense), when I try to log into my existing account, it prompts me to start a new account… It’s a vicious circle I can’t get out of.  Any suggestions?

I have recently picked up an SBG8300 to replace a damaged SB8200.On that SB8200, I was able to host HTTPs services through the device and these services were available globally via my domain name pointed at my home IP.On this new device, that is no longer the case. I can confirm that the services are initiated properly and are able to be used at ‘localhost’, but I cannot reach them via the public address.Things I have tried:Creating a fixed IP for the hosting device internally Designated DMZ as the fixed IP of host device- no good, connections refused Created a makeshift DMZ through port forwarding ports 1-65535 int/ext and TCP/UDP for the host device- no good, connections refused Setting IPv4 and IPv6 firewalls to Custom - Firewall Disabled levels- no good, connections refusedWhen I try to reach the web page for the hosted service in question, I reach the “https:// Redirect” page for my service, which is clear

Hello,Every couple day, devices that I have connected via WiFi drop connection and I get an error stating that the network is out of range.  I cannot simply reconnect without turning the wifi on ach device off and then back on.  Once I do that it reconnects with no issue until the next couple days go by.  Not a big problem for my tablets and such as I reconnect with each boot up.  The problem is with my constant connections related to security cameras and Echo Devices that monitor constantly.  once the connection is dropped, I have no connection to them throughout the day until I come home and reboot each.  If it was just one device, i would say it is the device….but it is at least 5 devices and it only started after I upgraded to the G34. Any Suggestions on this situation or maybe I have a setting wrong in the G34? Thank you for your help.

Hello - I may be having this issue - not able to connect to wi-fi at home; but I need the information above in layman’s terms.  What settings do I need to check and where do I check them?  Thank you for the assistance. 

I’ve been successfully using port forwarding since I setup my G34 around April, 2023. Lately I’ve had to reboot the device every few days because it completely disconnects from the internet on Comcast/Xfinity. This week, after rebooting, the port forwarding no longer worked. The services themselves still work on the internal network, but external port forwarding through the G34 does not. When I attempt to edit a port forwarding service and click SAVE, I get a pop up Alert window saying Operation Failed (screenshot below). When I try to add a new service, as a test, and click SAVE, there is a new entry in the port forwarding list, but all information is gone (screenshot below).I spent hours on the phone with Customer Support yesterday. After several factory resets and reconfiguration, the port forwarding services through the G34 would sometimes work for up to an hour, and then would stop working again and exhibit the same behavior described above and shown below.
