S33 | S34

My modem just stopped working randomly. I restarted it multiple times. I tried resetting it by pushing the reset pin up to 30-60 seconds, but the white light never changes. Is there usually a visible confirmation that the reset worked?I finally had a comcast technician come out and I am using a rental modem.But just in the off chance somebody knows the problem, please help. The white light stays on and never changes colors. Also, can we ship the rma back in the original retail box only? It is pretty well protected in the retail box.

I have a Netgear router with ACCESS CONTROL turned on but NOT blocking new devices. My S33 modem seems to have valid connection lights (solid blue) but none of my wifi devices have internet access. Connected/No Internet. Everything works fine with my older cable modem….

I am trying to install my new S33 modem however it is not an option in the app for installation so I don't know how to set up our modem 

Purchased a S33 V2 but when I login to the Arris portal it states that the hardware version is V1.0.  Do I actually own a S33 V2, or did they put a V1 in a V2 box. I searched this issue, and the only answer seemed like a canned response from the manufacturer saying they source components from the same places - this is not an answer to the question being asked.

This is a similar topic to: My ISP is Comcast and recently I have moved away from the OEM gateway they provided. I bought the DOCSIS S33v2 Surfboard to replace it, but I am not able to get anything near the advertised 1Gbps download and 200mpbs upload speeds. On the Comcast gateway I can get 900mpbs download and 200mpbs upload, with the Surfboard only 200mpbs download and 5mpbs upload.  I am not sure if there is a misconfiguration on my end, or on the end of Comcast. I have already called Comcast and they said they would fix it, no difference hours later. Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot the slow internet speed on the modem myself?

First, over two months ago, I had a defective unit that was making a hissing sound and showing a white light. Unfortunately, the unit was bricked and could not be fixed. After two weeks of dealing with Arris customer service, they sent me a new unit. However, once I installed that unit, my internet started dropping signal twice an hour and buffering throughout the day. This is the second unit that has been total trash. I downgraded to my old SB8200 and my internet has never been more stable. Unfortunately, I don't see a solution for this issue, so I have to try to return the new unit to Best Buy. I just wanted to give a warning to anyone else having the same issues.

Xfinity says no issues on their end. When I try to factory reset, it just automatically connects back to Xfinity again, no configuration needed. I’ve tried holding the reset button for 10 seconds, 20 seconds, and 35 seconds (both with the coax connected and without).  Connecting via Ethernet does not work either. I get an error saying the DHCP is unavailable.  Any suggestions before I go insane? 

Hi, this morning my modem appears to have broken. The Amber light stays on for a few seconds and then the white light flashes and this cycle repeats.Its also making a high pitch squeak every few seconds. I’ve attempted to reset the router several times but nothing appears to happen.This seems very similar another post on this forum but it’s marked as solved with no solution specified. Only instructions on how to access the web console. Which I’ve tried but have been unable to do so, the page never loads.Any help would be greatly appreciated.  

I recently installed an S33. Activation with surfboard central was fine and had no issues with xfinity.  Internet is working fine. The app gives an error when going to the network section that has lasted for several days."We are experiencing an issue with our Back-Office services. Please try again later"Attempting the network scan gives me a never ending progress wheel. It never completes. I have factory reset the modem, no settings have been changed, app has been reinstalled.  Issue persists. 

I purchased an Arris S33v2 last November. We have been having at least 2 to 3 short dropouts daily. We thought it might be a cable issue as the upstream voltage was a little high and downstream was a little low. (Also saw some UCD invalid or channel unusable messages in the event log)Ran a new RG6 Quad coax directly from the outside cable box to the modem. The voltages fell within the normal range but the daily reboots continued.The Xfinity tech recommended getting a different modem. I already had my old SB8200 so I installed it. It has been up several days now with zero dropouts.How do I go about getting a warranty replacement?

We've been through 2 routers and 3 modems with the same issues. I was told if I upgraded to DOCIS 3.1 the issues would stop so Spectrum sent us one. Even though Spectrum said everything was fine the problems continued and since I could no longer see the log I bought an Arris S33. The levels have had a downward trend since January and the errors have increased to multiple daily timeouts. Tech support has re-provisioned the modem twice which helps for about a week.They've sent several techs out in the last couple months who have tested everything and said there's no issues outside. The last tech checked the attic and found a couple improperly clamped F connectors which he fixed. I've also bought all new cables and factory reset both the modem and router several times.Ive attached the levels and log which clearly show everything is not fine and we continue to have multiple disconnections every day. Spectrum tech support has been fairly rude, stating they don't care about

When I run a constant ping from my router to the modem (192.168.100.1), which is directly connected to the Arris S33v2, I see latency spikes at times.  I would expect to always see <2ms, but it spikes to 300-400ms.Why would this be the case?  How can I confirm that the S33v2 is running at 2.5Gbps on the main ethernet interface?  My router shows 2.5Gbps on eth1 (interface connected to modem).I also see these errors on the interface (eth1) connected to the S33v2 from my router:     rx_long_length_errors: 132     rx_errors: 132     rx_length_errors: 132     rx_queue_0_csum_err: 12     rx_queue_1_csum_err: 7     rx_queue_2_csum_err: 9     rx_queue_3_csum_err: 9What would be causing these?

I recently activated a new S33 modem and sought to register it via the SurfBoard Central app. The MAC and Serial number are accurate, however the device model name showing is SB6190. I cannot find a way to edit this field to correct the device model name to SB33. Can someone provide guidance on how I can correct this error so my registration data is accurate? Thanks!

I have Spectrum Internet and get excellent and reliable speeds with my Arris S33 modem. For the last few months in Zoom meetings my screen freezes (everyone except me) and I have no audio. In a minute or so it comes back and I get a Zoom error message “Your Internet connection is unstable.” During these freezes I have tested my connection with Speedtest and with other browser windows. The problem is only in Zoom. I have used Zoom on my MacBook Pro and my Dell XPS 15 laptops and get the same behavior.The Zoom help is no help. Spectrum insists there is no problem and they can’t help because I am not using their modem. The S33 has current firmware. (And I have rebooted the modem, the Amplifi router, and all other pieces of equipment in my cabinet multiple times). Can anyone help? My S33 is making an awful high pitched noise and the LED is going between Amber and white. I am guessing, from reading other posts, that my modem is a brick. I cannot even find a place for chat tech support or to begin a warranty claim. 

Modem staying connected to internet but won’t stop constant high pitch squealing sound. Been a few days now. 

S33 solid blue following a xfinity outage and won’t change after a button reset 

This is something I’ve noticed recently, but during a zoom, video stream or even playing video games there is a bit of a blip that reconnects 10-15 seconds later.This is paired with an Asus Orbi RBR850.Something very interesting to note… every 10 minutes (exact), the led light on the modem switches from green to blue and vice versa. Looking at the user guide the modem is switching docsis mode? Why is that? I’ve reached out to Xfinity for assistance,  but I’ve already attempted to rest both appliances with no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated… Thank you.

I bought my Arris S33 modem July 4 2022 through Amazon for over $300.00less than two years have gone by (07/04/2022 - 01/26/2024) and my warranty with Arris is already expired according to their website. I have been experiencing a lot of problems staying connected to the internet even though I usually get nice speeds when I am connected.  I went to my ISP, Optimum, and the front counter associate checked out my modem and let me know it was causing the intermittent issues due to 4 bad channels out of the 32 channels it has.  He then explained to me that the modem most likely does not have anyway of just turning off the 4 bad channels.  So, my question is can I fix my modem such as turning off the 4 bad channels it has, or can I still return my modem to Arris to have them fix and/or replace it even though it’s no longer under warranty? Thanks for any help in advance.

Bought this modem thinking it would bring my download speeds close to the 2000 Mbps rated comcast Xfinity speed I subscribe to, but I am only able to get around 718 Mbps down and 5.8 up. After several attempts at trying to play with settings, OS, and multiple computers, I called in for support through Comcast. They tried their best with their magical keyboard skills, to no avail. Finally, a service technician was sent to determine the issue. After doing many more tests to coax cable, modem, router, cat5e & 6 cables, technician determined that the issue was at the modem.He was able to show me on his device that the speeds coming in all the way to the modem were in fact 2247 Mbps down and 386 up. Unfortunately, there was no resolution, and the return window on Amazon has expired.If anyone has found a way of increasing speeds, please share. Thx.

I recently installed S33 to take advantage of Comcast 2G+ package. After a few hours with various teirs of comcast tech support, it was concluded that the S33 can’t be configured to work at the expected speeds.I have been a satisfied owner of the SurfBoard T25 and hoped the S33 would deliver the same satisfaction but sadly, this is not the case. Upload speeds of 5Mbps just does not do it. The findings were that a “Boot file” Comcast use to activate the CM reports itself as “INVALID”.Arris - please work this issue out with Comcast or stop advertizing the S33 as Comcast compatible so other customers are not misled.Thanks. 

Surfboard central wont open 

My S33 modem is working fine but makes a lot of noise - a constant fluttering/chirping/skipping sound. I’ve had it for about a year but recently moved it close to my desk where it’s driving me crazy. Is this normal? Are there other routers on the market that are quiet? I use Xfinity. Thanks.

Will no longer connect to internet after an Xfinity outage. Infinity can’t see it.
