sb6183 not connecting properly

The internet thru my sb6183 would not come back on after being knocked out by a snowstorm. I’m trying to trouble shoot. After a factory start the status for upstream power is below spec. 35.7 dBmV-39.7 dBmV versus the +51 dBmV to 45 dBmV that it’s supposed to be. Is that enough to make it not function?

Arris SB6190 modem no power

Hello everyone! Have been looking all over the internet and I can’t find an answer. My modem’s power supply stopped working today after almost one year of usage so I know it’s not age related. used my multimeter and it was reading 5V so I knew my power supply failed. I got a new AC universal adapter with the required 12V A1.3 and nothing. No power whats so ever. I checked on every outlet. Found a random backup power supply with the 12V A1.0 and still nothing!! I’m losing my mind I can’t afford to buy a new one. Please let me know if y’all have any similar stories or solutions thank you!!

SB6190- Dropping connection

I have been fighting a dropped signal with my 6190 and Cox internet services. I pulled logs today and spoke to Cox. They claim that they saw an error on the side of the modem. I’m suspecting the drop line myself. This dropped connection only seems to occur when video chatting is ongoing and there is a high level of upload speeds occurring. Any help appreciated. Please see logs below.

Very Very Slow Internet on SB6190

Hi there!I have an ARRIS SB6190 that I bought in Jan 2020.  I’ve been having some really slow Internet problems. Less than one megabyte per second on download and upload. I called Comcast and had them send a new signal and reprovision my modem but it's still very slow. I was able to hardwire into my modem and everything seems to be moving really quickly now. Any thoughts on why my Wi-Fi is so slow? I've cycled the modem a number of times and it doesn't help.

My modem SB6190 has been dropping connection every night. Comcast says the signal to my modem is good and they don’t see the lose of connection. Since I own my modem, they said it could be something Arris needs to look at. Any help?

White power and online lights

I’m trouble shooting SB6190 modem issues. I have white lights on power and online LEDs. ISP can see the modem is connected on their end, but I don't have service. The white lights also appear to have faint green LED lit up simultaneously. Is my modem cooked?

Solid Green Transmit Light on SB6190

The transmit light, which should be solid blue to indicate bonding, is solid green.  I cannot find a reference to what this means with respects to the transmit/receive lights. Please advise.

can not connect ethernet to laptop

I have the SB6183 modem during installation it askes me to connect the ethernet to my laptop to get modem online but I do not have that port on my laptop. What can I do?

What Revision # is my SB6183 ?

Hello!I purchased a Surfboard SB6183 a while back and I’m very happy with it. Before I schedule internet service to my new apartment, I want to know whether it will work, or whether I need to purchase a new modem. The service provider lists “ Arris SB6183 Rev 4 “ as a compatible modem, but I don’t know how to identify the revision # of my model. I tried contacting customer service, but apparently my modem is out of warrant.Could someone please point me towards this information?Thanks!

ISP Complaining aboutSB6190 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem

Recently, a technician from the evil ISP I currently forced to pay $94.99 for 500 Mbps internet access (as they have a monopoly on internet connections in my area) tried unannounced,  to swap out my cable modem for an ISP provided DOCSIS 3.1 modem. The technician insisted that my current modem was cause issues with the ISP’s signal.  Sensing this was yet another of the ISP’s manipulative lies, I refused to change modems. The event log noted some issues, e.g., “No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out...”My questions are:Did the technician have a point? Since the SB6190 cannot be “updated” to DOCSIS 3.1, is it necessary to buy a new cable modemThank you, Umrk

issues all if the sudden SB6183

Internet has been dropping the last two weeks because they are messing with the signal or something. Xfinity says everything working just fine on their end but I still have issues. No internet, wi-fi only. Is there a fix for this modem or is it just to outdated?

SB6190 Firmware Update

I called my ISP they told me they do not update firmware on my modem since I own it and do not rent from them.  So how do I go about updating the firmware on the modem?  They advised me to reach out to the manufacturer for a firmware update.

What is the Default Admin Password for the SURFboard SB6190.?

Just need the default password for the SB6190 have done the master reset.. but still need the password.all the lights flash.. everything is good…. just can't login … looked all over this site and have not seen this info. there is not sticker. Used unit. have tried last 8 of serial number, password, 12345678… ect..any other ideas ???? HELP PLEASE LOL

403 Forbidden

If I try to load the ARRIS SB6190 Web Manager Access page 192.168.100.1 I get "403 Forbidden" (tried multiple browsers). I’m assuming that when xfinity reprovisioned for internet access, it locked me out from looking at or making any changes to the modem’s configuration? Does that sound right? Currently, my ISP speeds are about 1% of what they had been (using the same modem) up until now (download 0.5Mbps vs 89.3Mbps). I am testing the speed with the modem connected directly to my PC (ethernet cable). I’m about to use the RESET button on the back of my SB6190 (which is what was recommended to me once before by ARRIS for an earlier Surfboard modem I was using that had a similar problem). After the reset, I plan to used the xfinity mobile app to  reprovision for internet access. Does that also sound right? Thanks.

Firmware update

I have a Surfboard SB6190 modem.  I understand the ISP has to do any firmware updating but is there a way to determine if the firmware is up to date?

Change, settings (especially security)

Even following the instructions exactly, (I bought this year’s ago so there’s no way it’s under warranty, so to get any support at all from the manufacture of this product I have to pay for it, (warranty period x2 years and I’ve had this for almost x4 years), and I’m experiencing the following;  I can’t even log on, ) 192.168.100.1), in order to revise the factory settings. Even after “resetting” nothing happens. I’ve tried completely disconnecting everything and allowing it to completely cool so it only warms to room temperature and nothing.

What is the download and upload speed of the SB6183? The page lists two different speeds

This page for the SB6183 at the top lists the download speed as 686Mbps but if you scroll down to the specs it lists the download speed as 400Mbps, so which is it? https://shop.surfboard.com/sb6183-surfboard-cable-modem/. Also this other page lists 400Mbps as well https://www.surfboard.com/products/cable-modems/sb6183/ but during speed tests, I can get over 500Mbps so that makes me think it is 686Mbps but all the pages make this pretty confusing. Also, what is the max upload speed? Since there are fewer upstream channels in the modem than downstream channels, the max upload speed is usually less than the download speed. Modem or ISP issues? Intermittent and Reduced connection

Hi all,We got a Surfboard 6190 modem and it’s hard for us to tell if the issues are from our ISP or modem, but our ISP thinks it’s our modem now. (There were also some repairs they needed to do on their end with the wires). But we are now still having severely reduced connection speeds. Paying for 400 mbps, getting about 20, and often it completely dies. The event log for our modem has constant inputs, attached at bottom. SB6183 modem help.

Good morning everyone, I’ve been having my internet drop randomly and more frequently now, I have been trying to figure out what’s causing this issues, I have checked my router and went through them to see if it was them, but it doesn’t seem like it. So now I’m checking my modem.  Here is my event log, sorry if its long. I’m just trying to figure out what all this means.
