SB6183 | SB6190

Anyone know if the 6190 is compatible with Century Link?

Out of blue, our home internet quit working last night. SB6190 has blue lights on for the 2nd and 3rd part of the lights (there are 4 of them, and I think these are upstreaming and downstreaming). I was able to connect the cable to my computer and it is working this way. I was also able to show the configuration on the website http://192.168.100.1/. However, I do not see any button on the bottom that says Restore Factory Defaults as one of the websites suggests. I hope someone can help me resolve this issue. Thank you in advance!

Does SB6190 have parent controls? I cant find them on Surfboard Cemtral ap.

I bought the SB6190 router a couple years ago and it’s been working great. However, I recently moved into a new house that has an outdoor security camera, which requires a 2.4 GHz network. The house is also fairly large, so it might be helpful to switch from 5GHz to 2.4GHz given the improved range. Thanks in advance! Ted

I bought an ARRIS SURFBOARD 6190 on October 17 last year at Office Depot. The Modem stopped working yesterday, after only 7 months. No power to the modem. Power adapter was OK, Power Outlet was OK, Modem not working. I called ARRIS support, they said the warranty is not covered here because Office Depot is not an authorized dealer for ARRIS. This is absolutely dissatisfying and the first time I heard it. Will never again buy this brand. Modem replaced with a Netgear device….

We have Kumo Cloud software for our airconditioners and now that we have the Arris sb6190 they are not communicating with our phones. We’ve been told that Kumo cloud will only work on 2.4. How do we get the Arris Sb6190 to change to 2.4?

SB6190 on Spectrum - 500 Mbps plan - No issues for the past 6 years, but last month started seeing Lost MDD Timeout errors - on average once a day at different times. Does not appear to impact throughput and no noticable connection drop. Throughput when tested is typcially 580 Mbps down and 23 Mbps up. Up until last month I have never seen that error message. First tech replaced all connections and removed a Forward Path Attenuator (that they installed several years ago) as he thought the upstream power was too high (51.5) 2nd tech replaced the drop from the street with rg11, but errors continue. Modem is connected to drop with a 75 foot rg6 coax with one double female connector (that was replaced by first tech) Current plan is too move the modem so it is connected to the drop with a 6 foot coax and run ethernet from modem to the router to see if errors go away and if they still exist, will replace the modem with a new DOCSIS 3.1 modem before calling Spectrum back, but would rather not

SURFboard SB6183 has blue lights that shine out the side. How can these be disabled? I’m willing to cut some wires.

Hello Arris Community! I just purchased a brand new Arris SB6190, but am a little concerned about the power supply. The modem is rated at 12V, 0.75A input, while the power supply that came with it is rated at 12V, 1A. For most electronics, I would only using a matching power supply to avoid damaging the device. Does the modem have some tolerance to make this acceptable, or was I somehow given the wrong power supply with my purchase? Thanks for the feedback!

No internet connection told that my I p address is bad

I was told by cox communications that my ip address is bad and I need a new one. How do I do that

So I bought a SB6190 after years of renting my modem through Xfinity. This was an amazing product and it worked well. Last night, I was having internet connection. When I woke up today, the modem is dead - no lights no nothing (I checked the power supply using a multimeter and the power is there). I just bought it like 4 months back and it is under warranty for 2 years I think. But I have no idea of how to get someone on the phone or where to get a phone number. Everything seems to redirect me here. Please help. Thanks, Sunil

Everything is fine with logging into the admin panel, it’s just has anyone noticed the lack of accessibility? It’s insane how little you can do with it. Not too happy about this one, Arris! Edit: The lack of real customer support is apparent as well.

I accidentally unplugged my arris sb6190 modem. When I plugged it back in my network no longer works. It worked fine before I unplugged it. When I plugged it in, the top light (power) was solid green, then the next three lights flashed green, then the middle two went solid green, while the last one (network) flashed green. Eventually the power light went solid white, the middle two went solid blue and the bottom one went solid white. I have tried to power the modem up again and power cycle the eero router. I called my isp, spectrum. They can see the modem and sent a recycle to it. Same results - power light and network light solid white and the middle two lights are solid blue. The eero router light is flashing blue. I can see my network name on my devices but when I try to connect to it is just spins. Help - how do I fix this?

I tried to add another Arris router to my home not knowing you can’t connect two modems. I have a large house and the internet is slow upstairs even with the mesh router. When I realized it didn’t work I tried to go back to using the arris surfboard SB6190. The lights are white, blue, blue, white however Xfinity says they can’t activate the modem. What happened that it worked fine before and now isn’t working? I have tried a hard reset and that didn’t work either.

Trying to find out of above cable modem has any updates and if so do they download automatically. If not where can i locate them.

Hi! When I access the Modem http://192.168.100.1/ I do not get a Login screen. (It’s not that I don’t know the Login info.. I don’t get an actual User/Password screen.) I’ve power cycled. I’ve done the paperclip reset. I’ve tried all browsers. Thanks for the insight! Chuck

Since 2016 I have read many articles about the faulty SB6190 Puma 6 chipset and latency jitter issues. I have also read many recent positive reviews of the modem. Arris no longer advertises the Intel Chipset inside on the box or modem itself. So now in 2023, did Arris stop using the alleged defective chipset for another chipset or are the latency jitter issues now resolved. I don't know whether I made a mistake buying the modem on sale or the current versions of the modems have the problems resolved. Most Forums talk about 2016, I would like to know the current status of the SB6190 in 2023. If anyone has the answers, thanks in advance.

i’ve been trying to set up my modem to no avail i had this modem and a tplink router set up at my previous address, using xfinity i’m trying to install it now, but the globe button won’t turn on and connect to the internet. i called xfinity and they said it all looks good on their end. i’ve unplugged and reset a few times, but still nothing.

How do I find the Primary DNS

The internet thru my sb6183 would not come back on after being knocked out by a snowstorm. I’m trying to trouble shoot. After a factory start the status for upstream power is below spec. 35.7 dBmV-39.7 dBmV versus the +51 dBmV to 45 dBmV that it’s supposed to be. Is that enough to make it not function?

Hello everyone! Have been looking all over the internet and I can’t find an answer. My modem’s power supply stopped working today after almost one year of usage so I know it’s not age related. used my multimeter and it was reading 5V so I knew my power supply failed. I got a new AC universal adapter with the required 12V A1.3 and nothing. No power whats so ever. I checked on every outlet. Found a random backup power supply with the 12V A1.0 and still nothing!! I’m losing my mind I can’t afford to buy a new one. Please let me know if y’all have any similar stories or solutions thank you!!

I have been fighting a dropped signal with my 6190 and Cox internet services. I pulled logs today and spoke to Cox. They claim that they saw an error on the side of the modem. I’m suspecting the drop line myself. This dropped connection only seems to occur when video chatting is ongoing and there is a high level of upload speeds occurring. Any help appreciated. Please see logs below.

Hi there! I have an ARRIS SB6190 that I bought in Jan 2020. I’ve been having some really slow Internet problems. Less than one megabyte per second on download and upload. I called Comcast and had them send a new signal and reprovision my modem but it's still very slow. I was able to hardwire into my modem and everything seems to be moving really quickly now. Any thoughts on why my Wi-Fi is so slow? I've cycled the modem a number of times and it doesn't help.
