G34 | G36

My first week using my G34 was a nightmare.  Here’s a quick summary of everything we dealt with.Ethernet ports would suddenly go dark on the modem and the wired devices would lose connectivity.  Rebooting the modem was the only “fix”.Wi-Fi would constantly disconnect, show as unavailable, or drop connections.  Fix for ethernet ports going dark and disabling all ports?  I changed the ethernet ports on the modem from 1000MB to 100MB.  Why?  My Roku device was using a port that has a limit of 100MB.  Making this change resolved all the issues.For the Wi-Fi issues, the fix was to move the channels to a lesser used one as my neighborhood is saturated with everyone elses signal.These changes are all done in the app or via the web console:  192.168.0.1 from your home network.Hope this info helps!

I use Bitdefender and recently upgraded to an Arris G36 wifi modem.Bitdefender HATES my modem, declaring it unsafe.Any recommendations on making them get along better?

The app confirms that I’m connected and then on the log in page it tells me it couldn’t connect to wi-fi. Any ideas?

I am unable to log into the G36.  The documentation shows “Enter new password”, but the screen does not display the same information that “ANA” brings up.  The login shows EMAIL and PASSWORD, but I have not yet entered an email nor created a password and have never utilized nor have access to the Home Network Wizard

Hello, I’m trying to access a site I host on my local network.I can access it-via DNS on my laptop and phonevia DNS on desktop with Wi-Fivia DNS on desktop on ethernet (with VPN)via IP address on desktopI can’t access it-via DNS on desktop with ethernet with no VPNSo it seems to be a problem with my windows desktop and/or router. At first I thought it was a hairpin routing thing, but since I can access it on my other devices and wi-fi it seemed unlikely.I’ve also checked my network switch, which is a netgear XS708Ev2. There’s something called ‘loop protection’, but again enabling it didn’t seem to solve the issue.It was suggested that it could be something in the router called “rebind protection”. Does the G34 have this feature, and could it be the cause of my problem?

I have G34 all set and running. Now app won’t connect any more. My iPhone app goes all the way to linking to wifi then can’t communicate. Went through this before and support had me factory reset. Don’t want to do all that work again just to make app work correctly.

When reading the event logs for the Arris Gateway G36 what is the event ID for a system reboot or stop/restart?  I just want to better understand when or how often my gateway is restarted whether if I initiate the restart myself or if my ISP initiated it. 

So, I might have solved some of my incompatibility with the Xfinity network by turning off the SIP option in the Advanced > ALG Settings, but I still get the once a day or so disconnect but only drops for a short time then recovers. I noticed a lot of these entries in the Event Log that may or may not be associated with the drops:DHCPv6 - Missing Required Option 24 05/23/2023 04:25:43 PM CriticalDHCPv6 - Missing Required Option 82 05/23/2023 04:09:19 PM CriticalI’m curious how critical those are and if changing my iPv6 settings could help?I noticed a checkbox for “Enable Stateful (DHCP Server)” which is checked. Is there a situation where signing into a non-broadcasting 5Ghz G36 is not possible? I have my 5GHz access not broadcasting.  However, choosing “Other” Wifi in MacOS Ventura and entering the 5GHz SSID information and obtaining a connection has never been a problem until lately.  Lately, I have to set the 5GHz to broadcast to sign in.  If I revert back to non-broadcast, I then can't sign in. Any insight will be appreciated.  

How do you disable the primary wifi on a G34?I want to use mine as a modem of course, with a computer hardwired directly to it along with my Google mesh routers.

When I try to set it up it automaticly goes to the web to the providers site( xfinity) and I can’t see the internal status of the modem/router. Xfinity can’t seem to find the modem, although I get to their website that wants me to activate it by their app. Which doesn’t seem to work. So if I can see the internal status of the modem I can see the wan status etc. I don’t want reps coming to my house. 

I have xfinity, i pay for gigabit speeds 1gig download,50 upload, i run two xbox consoles on it for my household both are hard wired running off a arris g36, ive looked into singal streath for up and downstreams and when i check they appear to be within the ranges thays recommended from forum posts i dont know what to do

I have the G36 and just bought it a few months ago for my xfininity internet service and have had dropped internet for what seems like day 1. The other day, I upgraded my ethernet cables and coax cable thinking that would fix the issue. I have a internet plan that gives me 1000 mbps of download, 20 mbps up. I know I future proofed myself with this model so what I have is plenty. The only thing left to do was call Xfinity. I spoke to a rep who ran a test on my cable modem/router and said my modem received no issues getting the internet and that I needed to reach out to Arris for a firmware update. Is there anything else I can do first before giving support a call?

About once a week, my G36 resets the Primary Home wifi password to a 12 digit number.The admin, secondary home, and guest passwords, as well as all other settings do not change. Only the Primary Home wifi password changes.What could be causing this and/or what can I do to help track down the culprit?

Hi, I have the g36 Arris gateway, I upgraded from a Netgear nighthawk and only did so because our speeds where dropping when we had 4 or more people gaming at once via Ethernet and we where also paying Xfinity for 1gbps and the nighthawk was only capable of 600 mbs. So long story short we upgraded a few weeks ago everything was great for about 4 days and than randomly the wifi through the whole house would just drop but upon further investigation our devices are still connected to the wifi network but it's just not loading anything it doesn't even say "connected but can't connect to internet" like it usually does. For reference the wired Ethernet connections still work fine. The only fix that's worked is to power cycle the gateway which fixes it but after a day or two it happens again. Not a huge issue but extremely annoying seeing as we don't have great service where we live and wifi calling is pretty important for work and family emergencies. I'm thinking about just going back to

I have a 800GB plan with Xfinity but using the 2.5GB port. could this cause Xfinity to drop my connection? The modem never comes back online until I reboot it manually. I tried Windows Trouble Shooting and ipconfig /renew  etc to see if I could get it back online without a reboot but nope. Im guessing with all the others having the same issue, its faulty firmware being pushed from Xfinity ???How do I report this so a Surfboard technician can look into this issue before I end up just going with a different brand? Could changing anything in the LAN Ethernet Ports help. they are all set to Auto Configuration.

Does G36 support remote access? If so, where do you I configuree it?

SURFBoard app does not connect to wi-fi after factory reset. It knows what the router and password is and my phone app shows I’m connected. Regardless it says the connection ws not made. It was scanned and I was right next to the router. I’ve tried this a dozen times over the last week and it has never worked.

Hi all, I once was able to log into my account, then I did a reset and now I can not login again.  I have tried the admin and password thing, my email I used for initial setup, etc. and nothing works.  The app tells me my email and the password to use, but nothing is allowing me in again….and suggestions? It keeps saying “ Invalid Login Credentials! “

We recently bought a g34 , set it up and it all works great but when we try to add an outdoor wifi outlet the app sees it but it times out. We have successfully added this outlet to another router and it works great we have concluded after trying every which way and getting the same result it may be the router settings-any help is appreciated. The plug is made by Tessan and has 3 outlets so you can plug something in and turn it on and off remotely thru wifi.Outdoor wifi plug 

When I browse to the admin page in Chrome I get the following message  The version of Chrome you are using is unsupported. Your Gateway's web interface has been tested to work with the minimum version: 70.0.3538.110.You may proceed with an unsupported version, but you might experience issues using the pages. My chrome is Version 108.0.5359.99 When I try Firefox I get this message The version of Mozilla Firefox you are using is unsupported. Your Gateway's web interface has been tested to work with the minimum version: 63.0.3.You may proceed with an unsupported version, but you might experience issues using the pages. My Firefox version is 108.0.1 Both of these are well beyond the minimum required version, why is it telling me this?

When it reboots it will say “Please wait while your Wi-Fi is initializing...”. This initialization can take 30 minutes or more. This will happen several times a day. I have resorted to occasionally doing a paper clip reset. Sometimes I cannot do this because I’m in a remote location.

After setting up my arris g34 and having successful internet connection, the unit stops connecting. Has to be reset to connect again. Have triple checked and internet service is active and cable to unit is good. ISP is Xfinity. Can you help me?

This is the most aggravating situation I had yet. I have gotten out of this once but can’t replicate how to fix it. But none of my networks has this. Also, even if the network is disabled it will show this message. There is no WPA3. I have a camera that used to work on this router but stopped communicating. I’ve also done a paper clip reset.
