SBG8300

Just bought the modem and tried to set it up with Xfinity. The WiFi is connecting fine, but I can’t access the network. I think the password is incorrect. Please advise. 

I need some help troubleshooting the wireless my SBG8300. My wifi is dropping out daily and sometimes multiple times a day. For a connected device, the wifi will stop working. Sometimes the device will show connected with no internet and sometimes it will drop the connection. Sometimes the SSID is still visible but devices are unable to connect. Sometimes the SSID is not visible. Once I reboot the modem, all wifi radios are working again. This has been happening for months but more frequent recently.I have a 2.4gz radio set up, I have a 5ghz radio set up and I have a 2.4ghz isolated guest network set up. Sometimes the 5ghz radio will stop working and the others will continue to work. Sometimes the 2.4ghz radio will stop working and the other will work and sometimes all the radios stop working.I have tried all the steps located here: 

I bought the SBG8300 about a year ago and hooked it up to my existing Google Nest wifi bundle (which includes a router and two access points). The Google nest was hooked up to my previous Verizon router with no problems. A year ago we switched to XFinity and that is when the issues began, just not that often, until now. On occasion this past year, we have had wifi issues connecting to the Google nest. But over the past few weeks, it has been a non stop problem. One of the access points keeps going offline. I have tried cycle powering them down and then up and that works for a little while, before one of the points goes offline again. I’m thinking maybe this is a configuration issue between these devices?I saw the article about setting up the SBG8300 in bridge mode, but I also saw this statement:“Setting the SBG8300 in Bridge mode disables the router” Dumb question, but don’t I need a router? I am currently using 1G service from Xfinity but will be switching to Quantum fiber next week - that will entail using a mesh network they will install and my Arris wifi cable modem will no longer work with the fiber service.  I’ve been using a wired connection for my office computer and wanted to see what will change when it goes to a wireless (mesh) network after the fiber is installed.  So, I ran some tests comparing the wired and wireless speeds from my current SBG 8300 cable modem.What I see is that I get 924/42 speeds from the wired connection and 380/41 from the wireless connection.  The wireless test is using the 5G connection with my computer sitting 6 feet from the modem and no other devices currently being used.  I also tested my speed in my basement using the 5G network and it also shows around 400/40.  Presumably the 5G connection should be getting about double that - and I do get double with the wired connection.  So, my question is why the wireless connections

My slow speed internet lost wi if connection with devices in the house but high speed devices continued to remain connected after an internet and power outage. I tried reentering WiFi passwords on the slow devices no luck. I logged on to surfboard app and toggled bridge mode. Now all devices connect on to the WiFi signal in the house but are no longer connected to the internet. How do I reset modem/ router to factory settings without bridge mode. Surfboard internet location 192.168.0.1 no longer works. 

I got a SBG8300 and I reset it cause it was running slow and now it’s stuck on the blue light and it don’t even let me reset it again. I unplugged it overnight and still the same thing. Any help would be appreciated. 

Replacing an older modem/router that was continuously dropping the connection. I finally got the connection to work, but now I can not get access to the gateway to rename the hardware or to change passphrases. Does this require a factory reset?

I installed the SBG8300 modem/wifi router yesterday. Connected devices are working great. I logged in the GUI and can see the connected devices, nevertheless the iPhone app shows “00” devices. I have restarted the modem and it does not fix the issue. What is interesting is that the web GUI shows all the connected devices, but not the iPhone app

Why do my SBG8300 Cable Modem & Wi-Fi- Router keeps disconnecting from my internet???  

I need to replace the ac adapter for the sbg 8300, but the materials that came with the modem/router don’t say what the device’s rated voltage and current are. Seems like the ac adapter would need to be 12 volts and 2 amps, but I used an ac adapter with those specs with this device and that adapter got fried and stopped working. Is there more information I need to select the right adapter? Can someone please confirm the ac adapter and/or voltage and current specs for the sbg8300 so I can make sure to order the correct replacement? Looks like Arris doesn’t offer ac adapters, just uses third-party ones. I want to make sure it’s compatible and pricing and info for ac adapters is all over the place and inconsistent. Please help!

I know the SBG8300 is an older unit, but it has served me well for several years.It is powered via a large APC UPS so it is not connected directly to utility AC.I hard-wire (ethernet cable) my modem->desktop to maximize internet performance (Xfinity).Event: I was working online during a thunderstorm with LOTS of lightening. In a moment, my internet connection failed. I looked at my modem and it was DARK. My UPS was nominal and my desktop and other accessories were operating normally.I tried unplugging the Arris modem and waited 30 seconds to reboot. Immediately upon restoring power to the modem I noticed BOTH BLUE lights blink 5 times then the modem went dark again. I tired a hardware reset (small hole in back of unit) and received the same result. I tried unplugging then restoring power again and got the 5 blue blinks then dark again.An exhaustive search for this troubleshooting indication was fruitless.I suspect an electrical surge foun

My modem router connects to 2 different SSIDs: SB8300-BBB and SB8300-BB8? There something wrong with this model. Do I need to change it?

I have the ability to connect to the wifi but there is no internet access, the apartment complex gave me this modem and said this was all i needed but idk what else to do to connect to it

We just got fiber through Frontier. Can the SBG8300 be used as just a WiFi router?

How do I setup the 2.4 and 5.0 GHZ Networks on my SBG8300?

I can’t login using the password that I just created when I did a hard reset to get to the pages to change my guest wifi passwords for security purposes. I have an Arris SBG8300I did two hard resets now to try to solve it and it skips the username creation item and goes straight to the create a password and reenter password page which I completed. I then changed the name and passwords of my primary daily Wifis - but to access the guest wifi band pages - I need to login using the account info...On that side, it’s saying that I’m putting incorrect credentials (“admin” and my new password). I tried the new password from the initial steps, the new primary daily wifi password, and the number password on the back of router, I tried resetting the router again and doing it all again and no success….I validated they were all correct multiple times. Is there another username other than “admin”, perhaps?  Thanks in advance!

It's random. But, my modem looses both 2.4 and 5g connection. Randomly. Hardwire works fine. Usually resetting modem temporarily fixes problem. But, it can happen anytime. 1 day, 1 hour or even a few days later. Sometimes multiple times a day. My dad has same modem and never has this problem!

I recently installed and activated through internet provider, Xfinity.  Slow sporadic WiFi, very limited range.  

I'm trying to setup this wifi cable modem.  Followed instructions 100% multiple times over many days. The modem WILL NOT progress past blinking green lights to SOLID GREEN lights where I can activate withy carrier.   Currently sitting on blinking green lights for 1 hour.  Please help. Xfinity says it is a device issue. 

I just moved. All of my devices connect to my SBG8300. However SBG8300 isn't connecting to internet. Can't login to my ARRIS gateway. Forgot password. Internet service unchanged with spectrum.

I have an SBG8300. The 2.4 and 5 G bands have been separated. I have 15 smart home devices connected to the 2.4, most of which work just fine (the ones that don’t are FEIT bulbs and outlets, which I have been told is a FEIT app problem. These problem devices randomly show offline). I recently bought a new device (a grill/smoker) but despite there being a full 5 signal bars, it won’t connect (it also requires the 2.4). The smoker will connect to my phone via hotspot, so the smoker manufacturer states it’s an issue with the router. But what that could be is anyone’s guess. So, anyone have a guess on what the problem could be? Thank you.

I just opened my new Surfboard SBG8300 and connected to same cable I used for old modem. I activated it thru Xfinity/Comcast but they cannot connect says appears offline. How do I resolve? 

ARRIS SURFboard SBG8300My modem is not powering on when plugged in. No lights come on. Other devices plugged into the same outlet are working properly. I tried removing and replacing the power supply several times. I have tried another outlet with no success. 

I have a web app Talktone to make phone calls using WIFI. It was working fine, but all of a sudden it states that it is being blocked by the firewall that I never did anything. I was using the SBG6900 DOCSIS 3.0    I ended up buying the SBG8300 DOCSIS 3.1 and the same issues. Spectrum told me that they changed to a new version because of speed. Can anyone explain/help.  Thank you!
