SBG8300

Today I switched my SBG8300 from the modem & router mode to WAN over ethernet mode - since I switched to fiber internet.Unfortunately, the SBG8300 appears to be limiting my 1000mbps to 60mbps, both for ethernet and wifi.  I tested running a cat6 cable directly to the fiber modem and I get the full 1000, but when I run it through the SBG8300 I only get 60.  I’ve restarted it several times and ensured all ethernet ports are set to 1000mbps.  Any solutions or settings I’m missing?

What are the steps to update my SBG8300 w/WiFi access and password. I need to improve my security beyond default.  Thanks so much for any help.I prefer Arris over all other brands and have had great luck with it for years - quality technology and great value. Also, is there literature on the SBG8300 for resetting WiFi names and password?  I want to make everything difficult for wannabe hacker - maybe hide 5G connections.  Thank you 

We had winter weather in GA and woke up to the wifi being out. No outages from Xfinity. Restarted the router, connection shows as blue, but no wifi. Xfinity can't detect it. Ethernet connected computer can't see it. Tried doing a factory reset, but nothing happens. It seems to be basically unresponsive. Any ideas?

Hello!I’m considering buying an Arris SBG8300 with built-in AC2350 WiFi Router and ditching my Xfinity Gateway.  However, I do not have a PC or a Mac. Would I be able to setup the unit using the iPhone Surfboard app or my Chromebook?  Also for clarity, I intend to use the unit primarily for household WiFi (no cable TV) and occasionally use Ethernet when using my PS4. 

I have recently started having issues from my recently purchased ARRIS SBG8300 Cable Modem. When I had it set up with my ISP, it performed fantastic; Stable, reliable speeds, with little to no issues, all the sort, however, suddenly, when I went to bed, after about a week of it working perfectly, it all stopped working. Looking at the app and IP address, nothing seems out of the ordinary, apart from my Power Level for my Upstream being a few units below the specs specified on the website and the WAN saying “No Internet”. I’ve tried all the usual troubleshoots: Power cycling multiple times, factory resetting multiple times, checking the coax, having a technician look at it all and check the lines on another modem, and everything seemed fine. The only apparent issue I can see on the router is that, while the WiFi light is static green while connected, the internet light keeps going through the blue Downstream and Upstream indicators, blinking green for a little bit, and doing it all o

Microsoft Teams has been giving me issues recently. Whenever I join a meeting, I get kicked out within a minute. After troubleshooting with both my IT department and ISP, I eventually switched to rental equipment from Xfinity, and the problem was resolved. This suggests that the issue was with my SBG8300 modem and router. Does anyone else have a similar issue?

I am having problems with new Printer Epson ET-8300 it will not connect to the slower WiFi.any help?

I’m considering purchasing the ARRIS SBG8300 modem/router, because I need to buy one with DOCSIS 3.1, and need to know if I can use a DECO Mesh Wi-Fi system with it?  I also need one with as many ethernet connections as possible, and this model has 4. I currently am using the ARRIS SVG2482AC, which has 4 ethernet outputs and it is DOCSIS 3.0, and my ISP say that I need to upgrade to 3.1.Thank you

Just got the SBG8300 model which has the same password for 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks. On my phone, two wifi names come up: “Guest” and “5G” type. The “Guest” network is connected using the default given password; however, when trying to connect to the 5G, it says “wrong password”. 

Can the Arris surfboard sbg8300 set a limit of upload amount.  Limit to 2GB per 24 hrs.?

We just bought and hooked up a SBG8300. It seems like the range is terrible. We’re trying to hook up our Ring cameras around our yard, which worked fine before, and they keep disconnecting and saying they have no signal. Is it the range, or is there something else going on with it? Ideas?

I bought an SBG8300 to replace the cable provider modem.  I also have an eero wifi network.  I started having issues and was advised to place the 8300 in bridge mode.  I did that and all hell broke loose as my eero network was no longer recognized.  I had to disable bridge mode on the router before things started working again.  Any thoughts would greatly be appreciated

For whatever reason my refurbished SGB8300 will not recognize the login password. I know it’s correct because I logged in every device in the house myself and now it won’t recognize it. I also cannot log into the admin page to reset things myself.So my thought is to hit the re-start button, lol. I just have no idea where te booklet that came with the unit is or if the reset will go to the “factory” settings or a “refurbished setting”. I was trying to chat with customer support but they wouldn’t recognize my unit, I guess a refurbished unit isn’t worthy of their attention. Any help is appreciated, Ed

I have followed all the instructions I can find on these boards and I contacted my ISP and they support the SBG 8300 and firmware is updated. I’m still having trouble getting wifi at 2.4Ghz. Nothing is connected, so there is no congestion. I’ve endabled/disabled and restarted mutliple times. I did a reset of the entire wifi on the modem.  All without any luck. The 2.4ghz will appear briefly and then after a couple of seconds disappear. 

I have a surfboard 8300. My main 2.4 ghz WiFi is not working but the guest one is. However only certain things will connect to the guest WiFi and some things won’t. When I try to log onto the web manager on 192.168.0.1 it says the server can’t be found. What setting got changed or corrupted?

I'm getting an error entering in the IP address using chrome.  Says my credentials are wrong and I'm using the wrong web browser.

I’m trying to change my nat type using the ip from my router but cannot log in. I've tried the wifi password, "password" and the password on the actual router but nothing works on the admin login page

After a brief power outage i have no internet. Both lights are green. I have reset the modem and confirmed with Xfinity it's activated and they can see it.

I upgraded my Comcast / Xfinity speed to 1000 GBPS but my speed test only shows up to 313MBPS. I tried and got the same result when tethered on WAN and on WIFI  I’ve tried restarting the modem and router both from Xfinity’s app and power cycling the modem / router. Still no change. I called Comcast/Xfinity and they said I need to lease their latest router / modem for $15/month. Is there no other way to get close to the 1 GBPS speed that I paid for?

Hi,I have sbg8300 modem.  It suddenly drops connection intermittently.  Internet provider tech said signal is strong.  Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot?  Internet provider is Starlight.   

I have a SBG8300-9D65 and I have agreement with Xfinity for 1Gbps, so I should expect at least 800Mbps but I’m getting less than 100Mbps.This used to work well always over 650Mbps… suddenly I’m having this slow speed.Xfinity tech came to my home and tested the cable from the outside connection box to the connector inside my home, he said it is good, up to 1.4Gbps…My modem is on warranty until March 2025.Should I request a RMA? or there is a tech support for troubleshooting?Any firmware update that I could apply? and how?   

My modem goes on & off, doesn't work consistently and been a pain dealing with Cox. Now I have a Cox unit testing it and it's certainly my Arris surfboard that's the problem. I just got it last year certainly must not be faulty. Help!
