SBG8300

I just bought a SBG8300 to replace my old cable model and netgear nighthawk ac1900.  performance of the new arris modem/router is very disappointing.   I get 450mbps right next to the router,  60-80mbps 20-25 feet away,  and 0-20 mbps 30 feet away.   that’s far worse that the nighthawk that’s nearly 10 years old.  is there anything I can do to improve wifi signal strength or it’s just the way the SBG8300 is?

I have owned this SBG8300 for a couple of years now and ever since the day I set it up, I have not been able to actually see the ports forwarding details for any ports that have been previously setup. The screenshot bellow shows exactly what I am ever shown when accessing this page. I am able to add ports to be forwarded but I have no idea how to ever disable or edit them once they’ve been added since the information isn’t displayed regarding the current forwarded ports, even though they do exist.. It’s also important to mention that I have even tried using both of the Android apps that are on the marketplace and provided by Arris and I was unable to see the currently set ports being forwarded on there either.  Software:Software Image Name:AR01.01.139_050119_701.NCS.10Firmware Version:01.01.139.NCSRDK-B-LLC:rdkb-2.1-20161219SDK:7.0

Is TP Link compatible with SBG8300?TP Link AC 1750 wireless.purchased to get rid of Xfinity rental modem.I have 4 computers, 3 TVs, tablets and phones. All devices are operating unconnected to modem/ wi fii need to know if they are compatible and is this device going to operate all my computers and devices with adequate speed.  If so, I need step by step instructions to install.

I have the SBG8300-89A5-5G modem. I set up a new password and it connects (usually) with all my devices. However, it will not connect to my blink camera. When I try, blink says the password isn’t correct (it is I have checked it numerous times and it matches what I have it set as). This hasn’t been a problem with my old modems. I have tried to reset the modem and the blink camera. It will still not connect. Very frustrating!!  Help!

Activated this thru my internet provider, he says he sees it connected and all looks good to him, but neither a wired connection or wireless works. Can access webpage when wired with a designated ip. Cant access using auto ip. No wireless devices will connect. Wired device using designated ip will only get you to device webpage, no place else. The wireless networks are broadcasting, and accept password but dont connect.

I have to disable and enable the IPv4 DHCP server to get it to hand out addresses at least once per week.  It’s been doing this since I bought it and installed it a month ago.  I disabled the IPv6 DHCP server, but that has not helped.  I tried to find how I upgrade the router, but I haven’t had any luck finding that.  Here’s the version on it now:Software Image Name:AR01.02.078.04_092820_711.NCS.10Firmware Version:01.02.078.04.NCS

Hi All,I have a network created by a Arris SBG8300 modem/router. I am trying to access a remote Synology NAS running Plex on a DIFFERENT network. The SBG8300 firewall is blocking access to the remote NAS. I know this because.When I disable the firewall, all devices on the SBG8300 network can access the remote NAS and Plex server. When I access the remote NAS and Plex server from any other network, I can connect. The problem is definitely the SBG8300 firewall. So how configure the firewall to allow traffic through to the remote NAS and remote Plex? Thanks!

Some how my login password, which is password, expands to numerous ********** and will not allow me to change back to password. Tried clearing cache  etc but no lunch.  Need some help so I don't have to keep putting in default passwords for wifi access. Thanks,

Brand new out of box and Ethernet ports do not work. They flash green during startup but then stay dark. I'm just going to return via Amazon if there's no real advice.  The WiFi is just fine. 

I recently bought the Surfboad SBG8300. The WiFi signal is not great in various parts of the house. Is there a WiFi extender or a mesh system that is compatible with this modem/router? What should I add to the system to extend the WiFi signal? Thank you!

First of all, my speed test only shows 60 for download. That may be the problem? But I have an SBG8300, and I'm only getting sound on all my streaming services. The picture is black and buffering on Netflix. On Hulu and Peacock, I get sound, but the screen is green. Anybody ever have this problem or know how to fix it? I already restarted the modem. This problem is in my new TV. Old TV doesn't have this issue. On the TV with the problem, the home screens on all streaming services are good and clear.

I purchased a new SBG8300 from Amazon a little over a month ago and it had been working fine. Last week the wifi connection started dropping out. Devices wouldn’t stay connected. It turned out that one of the issues was with my service provider. Their issue was all fixed on Friday and they even let me use one of their routers over the weekend to ensure everything stayed connected correctly. Now I have switched back to the SBG8300 and added the same ssids as before. Hardwired devices work as they should. 5G WiFi devices stays connected 90% of the time. 2.4G WiFi devices will not connect at all. The 2.4G ssid continually goes in and out back to back and never lets anything connect and even when it does, it doesn’t have internet access. I also had an issue with devices auto connecting even though the ssid/password are exactly the same as before. This is a continuing issue after multiple power cycles and factory resets. What could be the issue? 

I just setup the SBG8300 and now that I have the device configured I was wondering if there was a way to backup the settings just in case ?

The http://192.168.0.1 will not connect. It’s as if it does not exist. I finally was able to go to another webpage while looking for entry, (SBG8200), finding an SBG8300 access page beneath & accessed the numbers above, with https:// Redirect. I clicked the box “Proceed”, the page says “502 Bad Gateway. Certificate verify failed: self signed certificate in certificate chain”. Why doesn’t your own (ARRIS) web pages work??? Remind me again why I spent my money to not have access to my Surfboard???

should I use a booster with my 8300 and if so, any model recommendations?  2nd floor of home has slower internet 

I’m trying to connect my tv to this new modem I purchased...following the instructions in the book..using the 192.168.0.1 was able to rename it but then it kicked me out and can’t get back to where I was and none of the passwords work.  Please help. 

Over the last couple days, my internet keeps going in and out. I had cox come out and they tested everything on their end and said nothing is wrong. Being that my modem is less than 2 years old, he thought maybe it hasn’t been updating. How can I check on this? 

I've unplugged all cables from and power cord from modem. The blue online comes immediately on, but will not show reading for Wifi.. any ideas?

Trying to login to my SBG8300 and get ALERT Operation Failed. Called Tech Support and they said my warranty has expired but if I wanted support I would have to get a warranty.

How do you reset the modems name and password?

I just purchased a SBG8300 and I have xfinity 1GB plan. I previously was using an sbg6950ac2. We are direct connecting via ethernet.With the old modem, we were getting speeds of around 400 MBS using comcast speed test so we decided to upgrade. However, with the new modem we are only getting around 150MBS. We tried multiple devices and different cables. Interestingly I am getting around 350MBS using my galaxy phone using wifi…Comcast of course says they are not the problem and that I should contact the manufacturer of the modem. Any suggestions?

Man,From everything Im reading on this forum and Xfinity forums, I really should have thought sixteen times over about getting this model.So:Looking for some suggestions here. I am a gamer, Xbox One Series X, PS5, Switch, you name it. I was not getting the speed I wanted to stream and game with friends, etc. I was paying Xfinity for one of their basic router modem combos and had the 800mbps plan. Surprisingly it was really decent speeds for that plan but my upload was capped and it was causing lag in certain situations. I bought the new router (SBG8300 which was listed as a compatible device) but Im not getting anywhere near the 1.2gbs and now Im hearing it doesn’t truly support the gigabit plans from individuals on here. Im thinking of returning this router tomorrow and getting a better model. Any suggestions on models? I am getting like 250-300mbps on direct ethernet (expensive double braided ethernet), and seems like better speeds over 5ghz wifi. But I

Arris SBG8300 as provided does not allow VPN pass-thru.  There is article (link below) that provides direction how to do so.  But this requires newer firmware version 01.02.078.04.NCS or later to enable via ALG sub-menu. My box has earlier firmware 1.01.137.NCS which does not have the ALG menu.  Thus I cannot enable VPN.Arrris support says contact my ISP (Spectrum) to push new firmware.BUT: Spectrum doesn’t have the new firmware; they say that Arris has not provided any updates since the 1.01 version.SO: caught in nowhere land, cannot use VPN.  The link below is helpful ONLY if you have firmware 1.02.078 or later; if you do not, then apparently SOL??Anyone else having this issue?  Any work-around?? Link below that helps if you have proper firmware:http://

On my SBG8300l what would cause a single Ethernet port to deliver 10/100 while the other three deliver gigabit speeds? With Xfinity Speed Test, Ports 1, 3, and 4 deliver 250Mbps+ download, but Port 2 delivers a maximum of 92Mbps.
