SBG8300

I'm trying to raise the firewall security level and the captcha codes I enter are not being accepted so that the router will let me save the new settings. It just keeps feeding me new ones. Some are hard some are easy. I’ve tried upper case, lower case, spaces between characters. Nope. I’m probably up to 30+ attempts now.

Is my SBG8300 compatible with Windows 11?

I just recently purchased SBG8300 i am connected to the internet on it. However, i cannot get into the modem settings to set the rest up. Neither the mobile app nor the internet page will accept the admin and password defaults. any help would be appreciated!

When I open the surfboard central app it shows zero devices connected.  I know this not to be true because every thing is connected.

I setup WiFi MAC filtering on my SBG8300 when I got it a year ago. I manually added my device MAC’s and set to Allow. From what I understand, it should only allow those listed devices to connect to my WiFi with WiFi password and no other devices should be able to connect even with correct password. I discovered that devices not on the allow list are able to connect with the password. I tried setting the list to Deny, save settings, my device MAC’s in the now Deny list could still connect to Wifi. I have had the guest networks disabled since I got it. So the MAC filtering feature seems to be not working at all no matter how its set. Is there another setting somewhere that could be conflicting? I would rather not do factory reset, takes long time to setup this router and can’t save config. 

My internet provider can not make my internet connection work until (hopefully) Monday (today is Friday). When I try to login to the SBG300 using either Chrome or Edge at address 192.168.0.1, I am told that it is an “insecure connection” and it tries to re-route me through an remote internet page.  Of course this fails because I have no internet connection !I would like to configure the WiFi and Router without the internet connection BEFORE MONDAY !Is this possible.I have rebooted and reset the modem multiple time.  Don’t waste your keystrokes telling me to do this again !

How to create my own network name

Hi All,I have a Surfboard SBG8300 with WiFi enabled. WiFi is bad in other areas of the property.  Here is the challenge.i have quite a large property:SBG8300 is installed in a thermally controlled AV Room with A LOT of other equipment.All SBG8300 switch ports are in use 3 go to separate Cisco 28 port Switches to flood Ethernet across the property, the last Switch port connect to a Security NVR directly.i need to improve the WiFi signal from the SBG8300 to other areas of the property. I’m not sure if I should use the ARRIS SURFBOARD mAX 6e Mesh units maybe 2 or 4  and connect their Wan Ports back to the Cisco 28 port switches or do this some other way..I tried to do this with Apple Extreme Routers and put those in Bridge mode just to extend the 8300 WiFi but it causes me nothing but problems so right now those are paper weights. Looking for community guidance here. Thanks. 

I have Xfinity internet in PA and tonight at the same time, everything lost connection to the internet. My devices could still connect to the modem, but could not access internet. It has been raining, so I figured there must have been an xfinity outage. After reaching out, (and of course restarting the modem multiple times) they confirmed that there were no issues on their end and they were able to send “refresh signals” to my modem, but it still could not access internet. I upgraded about a year and a half ago and I still had my SBG10 laying around. So, while talking to xfinity customer support, I was able to activate that modem and sure enough, that one works fine. No issues.  I have had no issues with the SBG8300 in almost a year and a half until today. What could be the problem here??

I bought a simple range extender. Can I use it without switching to bridge mode? Why can’t I find it in my network? Thanks for any help you can offer.

I just activated an SBG8300 and accepted the defaults. On the default network, I’m getting 60Mbps download. On the guest network, I’m getting 300 Mbps. What’s the difference between the two, and is there any harm in using the guest network?

I created a surfboard manager account with a different email, is it the same as this account?

I have the SBG8300 and I’m trying to activate modem but I don’t have a Ethernet port on my laptop. 

I have 2 houses. I bought a SBG8300 for one of the homes in January of 2024. It works great so I bought a second SBG8300 for my other home March 1st. It works fine but I want to change the password and am having trouble figuring out how to do it. I have surfboard manager from the first modem but cant log in.

I currently have the SBG8300 and I have Optimum ISP. I have had optimum for years now, but I recently moved across the state. I didnt have any problems before I moved, the internet went out maybe 5 times in 2 years, but ever since I moved it happens multiple times a day.  It happens randomly, and It is only out for a couple seconds or minutes max. It is wifi and ethernet. I have 450mbps down and 40 up, and I have 2 pcs on the internet gaming. Both pcs disconnect at the same time and come up at the same time so I know its not PC related. Things I have tried:  - new ethernet cable - resetting internet (button on back of router) - factory resetting internet (both holding button on router and through network webpage) - unplugging router from wall and waiting I am putting in a ticket with Optimum tomorrow to see if they know what is going on. So I can get some of my devices connected (online) because some of my devices all of a sudden switched to the 5G network from the 2.4. Like the phone got on the 5G and maybe a couple of othet things and then some I had to put the password I. For them to get online on the 5G. But I still have devices like a Yale door lock/bridge  and 2 outside security cameras that aren’t working. I found out it’s because they will not use the 5G. I tried to go back in like I was encouraged to do and get my phone temp onto the 2.4 just to be able to connect those and then  they’d work on that and my phone could go back on 5G. . So  since zoning my own Arrus Modem which is a SBG8300, my internet company was not able to do much for me. They said I needed to contact Arris and tell them that I needed to have the 2.4 and the 5 two separate things, and I which accidentally clicked out of that chat and forgot the exact tech terminology. Something about they would need the gateway and the password. That what

Restarting modem, pc does not work, the problem is getting progressively worse, and app does not change settings.

I have tried unsuccessfully to connect my HP 8720 printer to my Arris 8300 modem/router. I’ve tried the usual turn off/on router, printer in the various sequences. I can see all of the router connections, but not the main one, which I renamed and re-passworded.  Thanks in advance for your help. 

Hi! I’m having issues connecting to the internet with my SBG8300. After losing power the online LED turns on but the WiFi LED will not turn on. I’ve power cycled multiple times. Tried plugging into a power strip and directly to the wall. I’ve tried to factory reset but cannot connect via the web interface. I tried to console into the Ethernet port and still the web interface would not work. I have called my provider and they also cannot communicate with my SBG8300. Any other suggestions? 

Mr. Moderator, before you tell me the SBG8300 firmware update is pushed out by the ISP, please be aware I have read the other posts on this issue, I have just got off the phone with Xfinity, and they say it has to come from Arris.  Regardless of who it comes from, please, just inform me and your every loving public what the latest firmware version number might be.  I have 01.02.078.04.NCS.  I saw that in an earlier post, but nobody answered the question.  Maybe it is time for the consumers to know the magic number.  I’m not asking to download it myself, just want to know if I need to push Xfinity for a newer version.I have issues with parental controls giving me “Operation Failed” errors when I try to add, edit, or delete items.  I’m not tech savvy and not sure firmware is the issue. I tried to reset the SBG8300, but it did helped.
