Since installing the  Arris Model NVG4438 router MagicJack cannot receive or make calls.  Any ideas on how to make it work?  Thanks.  Tim

What happened: I was troubleshooting a Xbox Live issue my son had with his Xbox. One of the troubleshooting steps was to put the G36 in bridge mode. Apparently bridge mode wasn’t the solution and I wound up having to do a factory reset.Problem: Now trying to use the SURFboard Central App, I can connect to the 2.4GHz and 5GHz on my phone with the default SSID/password but cannot connect to other devices.  Troubleshooting attempts: I tried using the (192.168.100.1) to see if I can change it there but it doesn’t load for me. I WOULD log off and log back on but I don’t remember the password to the app and I couldn’t find the forgot my password option.End State: I’d like to be able to change the SSID/password and use the app prior to factory reset. 

I solved this issue after continued research on the internet but after hours and hours of resetting and restoring the brand new modem as advised by the surfboard chat techs. I am not good at computers at all but do know enough to follow instructions if the correct ones are given. I kept saying to the techs I felt it was just something on the modem not clicked on (or off!) but that dialogue was ignored. Too long of a story so to cut to the chase for someone else who might have this issue with their new Arris modem:Setup new modem and connected with my internet provider and everything worked and streamed just fine except calling over WiFi. Our house has a lot of trees in a rural area so we do not have cell phone service without WiFi. I knew it was the modem that was not allowing the calling over WiFi as I went to a neighbor’s home, was on their WiFi, and could make a call no problem. Howdy,      I use FileZilla for work and I work remotely. My company and internet provider cannot help me. Any ideas what could be blocking access? I’m using the Surfboard SBG8300.     All FileZilla says is Connecting to < SERVER NAME >, then < Connection timed out after 20 seconds of inactivity > followed by < Could not connect to server >     However, if I change my wifi to my iPhone Personal Hotspot, it connects very fast so I know my credentials are correct.      I hope you can help, I’ve been struggling with this (off and on) for over a year.Later

Hello,I reset my modem/router (instead of unplugging it) because my ring doorbell was offline and refused to reconnect. It reset to the original name and password. I need the site and steps to create my original wifi name and password, please. 

My G54 has been working great for over a year however, recently my two Samsung S24 Ultra phone have started disconnecting from the wifi and the phone reads incorrect password.  I click on reconnect using the saved password and it reconnects for a period of hours to days.  MY QUESTION IS WHAT IS GOING ON AND HOW TO I FIX THIS.Thanks in advance for your help.Ed

When I try to sign into the modem via browser it says to use the email address I have for the app. I have used that and the password and it still won’t let me in.

I bought this unit in May 2021.  It is rated for WIFI 5.  Are there any updates (firmware) to improve the current speed? Can it be improved to WIFI 6 or do I need a new device?Thank you.

how can I tell if I have the latest updates on mt G36?  I have internet drops, freezing frames and audio drops. 

I have noticed a trend with surfboard modem router internet output ports failure. This is my 2nd modem over last 3-4 years. I had same issues with previous modem . I purchased SBG8300 last year. It has 4 internet output ports. Initially first output port failed. Now all 4 ports failed. I called customer service but call doesn’t go through. I am very disappointed.   

The warrantee on my SBG8300 expired in October, and in November, so did the unit itself (both leds solid blue instantly on power up, no appearent boot sequence, no WiFi signal, no change after pressing reset button). Is it worthwhile to try to get this unit repaired?

My G36 over the last few days has been constantly disconnecting and apparently shutting off entirely every 20 minutes or so. The blue light goes off and I have to unplug, wait, and plug back in for it to work again. This only works for 20 minutes or so and then it happens all over again. It's happening totally out of the blue, everything was fine until a few days ago. I haven't moved the unit, it hasn't gotten knocked over or damaged at all, and I'm at a loss 

Is it common problem with surfboard modem with ethernet ports? I have purchased SBG8300 in 2024 and put in service in May-2026. Initially 2 ethernet ports quit working and I switched my ethernet to a working port. Last week remaining 2 ports quit working. Wi-Fi is working as normal. I have my internet service with Xfinity. I am thinking to call Xfinity to ship their own modem to get rid of SBG8300. I have lost a quite a bit of money on SGB8300. Very disappointed.   

I have an Arris Gs6 SBG00DAE36. It is only a year old. I am experiencing Comcast/Xfinity dropping connecting to the point where I can hardly stream, use my phone, nor Zoom. Of course Xfinity blames the Gateway, but is is really? How do I figure out this puzzle?

Can I connect my arris up to my Eero? 

instruction say to use and Ethernet cable to install. I do not have an Ethernet port on my laptop to do this. 

I have a Chromecast and 2 Chromecast-compatible TVs and numerous devices that connected before we changed router. The TVs and the chromecast have no trouble connecting to the same WiFi but no devices are ever found. Also the TV’s app has a remote control option that also stopped working since we changed router on all devices.  I set the firewll to custom and made sure casting wasn’t blocked. I even turned off the firewall. Still no luck. Any suggestions?

I recently switched to xfinity 2 gig plan, bought the G36 router with the 2.5 gig port, using a CAT 8a wire from the router to the computer, but I only get 800mbps-1200mbps, not the full potential. Already spoke with people in xfinity in person and online, both say that on their end I got the 2.0 gig plan. What could the issue be?

I previously used the web to login in to my SBG8300 Device Manager, but receive an error number 0000-1900 that my Chrome browser version is out of date every time I log in, yet the version on the error message is an old one.  I also receive the same error message if I log into the Device Manager using the Edge browser. I downloaded the new Surfboard Central app, but when I click “Network”, the page goes through the endless refresh cycle, circling and circling and circling…..How is this resolved so I can manage my modem/router gateway on the app?

How do you create separate band names to create a unique name for 2.4GHZ and one for 5GHz?

I called in because I could not finish registering my g54 in the app. Was told to send in proof of purchase with the case number. Got the case number but can't recall an email address? Any idea what it is? Couldn't find it on the website. 

The Arris G36 was dropping the internet daily even though the blue light was on when there was no connection and I cycled power often for it to work.  The signal power is ok. When internet worked WiFi was ok.  The ISP tech said my connection problem was that WiFi was turned on at my end but the Cable company had WiFi turned off from their end.  He turned it on and it has worked for about 6 hours now.  Is it likely that this will fix the problem long term?                                                  I asked about modem updates and He told me that user owned modem updates are not done by Mediacom and must be obtained from Arris by the customer.
