G34 | G36

I have a G-36 DOCSIS 3.1 for about 14 months.  It’s been working FAST on Cox.  However, the past few weeks it’s dropped speed from 550MPS to under 30MPS.  COX says it’s an old, outdated modem and want to sell me their own.  WHAT?  I need to be able to customize port forwarding and other features that if I get a COX managed modem I won’t be able to do that.Is there a firmware updates for this modem?I have read that the updates are ‘automatic’ and some folks experienced a downgrade in performance.  How can I tell if my G-36 updated the firmware and what revision should it be at?If NOT, then what’s a good replacement that won’t be obsolete in 15 months? 

I want to turn off the wireless Arris G36 Modem so I can connect to a Linksys router?

I cannot get speeds over 340 Mbps wifi speeds.  Xfinity router gets me 1100-1200 Mbps.

Hello,I have 2 MOCA 2.5 Motorola adapters installed for years and my cable modem was a Motorola MT8733. One MOCA adapter is connected to my modem in the living room, and the other is in my office upstairs and everything worked fine.My 8733 started having problems that requested me to reset it every other week and today I replaced it with a Arris G36. Wifi is working fine, but the Ethernet adapter in my laptop (connected to a MOCA upstairs using a network cable) has no connection - connection was great when I had the MT8733.I reviewed pretty much all config pages in the G36 and couldn't find something that needs to be configured to make the MOCA connection work.Thoughts? Is there a configuration I would need to change? Should I use a PoE filter?PS: the LEDs on both MOCA adapters behave the same as before, so it's not a link/LAN connection issue.

How do I change the password?

My service provider is xtream by Mediacom & I've reached out to update my modem/router combo; but was unable to because my ISP doesnt have the newest firmware. My current version is AR01.04. & the newest is AR01.05 which came out in NOV. 2023. Can a new firmware please be pushed out for the G34 & can Mediacom be put in the loop so i can update my firmware. Please.

I installed my G34 and it works well. When I went to set up the iphone app, I was told that I would need to factory reset the unit. Will I need to go through the whole activation process again? 

I recently replaced my older Arris modem that was cheaper and had gone out. I bought this one that was supposedly better, but it drops my internet connection on my devices everyday. This is a HUGE problem because I work from home. All devices are wireless except one, but I did not have this issue with my cheaper Arris model. I can only use Xfinity due to lack of providers for my area so I’m stuck with them but this wasn’t happening before I changed devices. I have my computer and a couple other main devices connected to the 2.4G and others connected to the 5.0G do not overloading the 2.4G. I have reset the modem, and disconnected and reconnected devices multiple times. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? I have to have fast internet for work. 

I keep running into this same issue and there is no apparent resolution.I factory reset the G36. Do the first login and create the new password. I then set the router to bridge mode and it logs me out of the GUI. I then try to login again with the username "admin" and the same password that was configured during the first login.It spits back "Invalid Login Credentials!"I try from a new browser. Same issue persists. I try clearing the cache. Same issue persists. I try from the Mobile app. Same issue persists.I can factory reset the device again and again and only get to the same exact point and yet the same exact issue keeps persisting. I'm not sure what else I can do. Is the software/GUI really just that bad? What am I supposed to do here? I've already gone through this process multiple times with a factory reset so I'm looking for another solution.​​

As the title says, my g34 stopped broadcasting the wifi around 11 pm last night. I thought it was a firmware update or the ISP resetting the connection so I didn't think too much of it. The following morning I logged into the console because the wifi still isn't broadcasting. I rebooted the device, raised the rx power, turned on/off broadcasting, formatted the settings. No issues reported by the device, hardwire works as normal.  Firmware 1.05

I can access Arris G36 Web GUI through Surfboard app using my iPhone, but can’t access Web GUI with my laptop, either via wired LAN or Wi-Fi.  Keep getting message:“Invalid Login Credentials!TIP: Use the email address you provided in the SURFboard® App.I’m using same login email and password that works for Web GUI access displayed in Surfboard app”Any ideas?  Thanks

System is not allowing me to reset the admin password to allow me access to the modem settings

I posted 26 days ago and the issue seems to resolve but I’m having connectivity issues again.Also, I am unable to reply to the following comment and I made the original post “Could you please specify whether the intermittent connection is happening on the Wi-Fi or the wired connection? When the internet connection drops, does the gateway (G36) reboots on its own?SURFboard Community Moderator Team” my reply: the only thing that is wired is the modem/router. All other devices are wifi.

New to this community but I see I’m not the only one having this issue.Brand new G34 bought today and my Xbox one can’t connect to it.Phone, laptop, table all connect just fine.Is it an xbox issue or a modem issue.I’ve already done the restart, enable UPnP on the web manager and nothing has worked so far.Gonna try a wired connection and if that doesn’t work, I’m returning it. 

My windows 8 laptop is showing as “limited connection” when trying to connect to our new Arris G34 wi-fi cable modem. My other laptop, desktop and all phones in the house are connected.  Network drivers are up to date on the computer and I had no problems connecting this laptop to our previous modem. Suggestions please?

I’m trying to go through the set up process and it says there’s an error and it tells me to go into my settings and connect to Wi-Fi yet. I’m already connected any advice?

Newly purchased refurb'd device and not sure what or where password is. 

Long story short the Surfboard app parental control is working.However, I ran out of “blocks” (seriously, only 32 !?), and saw that the gui web interface also allows for blocking from there also.(1) The gui parental controls do not allow for dashes “-”. Given there are many domains with dashes, why not?(2) Everything was going fine. I had 25 listed in gui. No problemo. After we had to power-reset one day I saw they were down to 15. I added them again. A few days later we had to power reset (not a factory reboot just a power outage) and once again down to 15. I added them back once more. Then I saw that the ones I added back, although they were listed in the gui software, they were not actually blocking anything anyway (I tested from a laptop afterwards). I come back and they are still there and listed. They stay there and remain listed. Until we have a power cut. Then they vanish as if by magic.I have had a problem with hackers. So my wifi has been going on for like a month and a half now. I tested some things and found out it only happens when I load up a game on my computer. This has never happened before. Could be fine all day until I load a game up on my computer 

I have an older ipod touch. I'm trying to get Wifi but not connecting.  I have Xfinity internet. I tried both SSID on the box but won't let me join. All other electronics hook up fine. Airplane mode is off. Any suggestions would be helpful 

Hi I have a G36 and my internet is constantly going in and out. It start about 2 weeks ago. It goes out on everything PC, phone, tv, Etc. not sure why this is happening 

The modem is working but I’d like to get the app up and working so I can simplify the password.  The QR code that came with the unit doesn’t work and I don’t seem to be able to do it manually.  I’ve set up a password and user name, but that’s about it.  

New G 36 connected to Xfinity and online with solid blue light in front, via surfboard and Xfinity app setup process.  At the last step, Surfboard app delivers Something Went Wrong Error Code: 0015-1805 and then I can go no further.We are online and connected, I just want to access to edit network name and password.  

The printer (HP 8010) is not wirelessly connecting to network. How to establish a connection?

How can I block certain ports? How can I use Firewall Rules to block UDP port 500?
