G34 | G36

Hello all, In November I purchased a new home along with an Arris G34 Modem Router Combo. Setup and activation went fine. I noticed my garage and the opposite end of the house had weak WiFi. I purchased an Arris VAP2500 access point to place there. I ran a network cable to the garage and hooked up the access point. In connected devices in my G34 the access point is listed and says online. My problem is I can’t login to the access point. Even before hooking it up I couldn’t get in. A WiFi search on a laptop and iPhone in the garage list the VAP2500 as a choice but I can’t join. all user names and passwords that came with it and searched online don’t work. My home system password doesn’t work either. Should I trash the VAP2500 and go with something else.Thanks

I have the G34. I set it up about three months ago. I logged back in about six weeks ago to edit the Wi-Fi broadcast name. I went to log into the router yesterday and the password that I used initially and six weeks ago no longer works. I also noticed on that login screen that the router has a “primary home“ a “secondary home“ and a “guest“ network. CONTEXT: I have only logged in via 192.168.0.1, not the buggy surfboard app.Question 1: I don’t recall the router having a “secondary home“ SSID before. Is this normal and I just am not remembering it?Question 2: Any explanation for why the password that was used successfully twice suddenly doesn’t work anymore other than tampering?Question 3: Instead of doing a full reset to gain access to the router, is there a “forgotten password” option so I can preserve and investigate any logs or see what is occurred recently?

Hello all, I need your assistance please. I factory reset my Arris G36 router/modem to default login : admin/passowrd. When I attempt to reset it up, it only prompts me to update the password. When I try to login in with the new password: admin/new password. It says invalid credentials. I input modem/SN on the support website and it tells me my warranty expired last year. Does this mean they will no longer provide me with support for my product? Please I am in desperate need of your assistance.  Thank you for your time.     

I bought a new G36 on eBay. The cable modem works great with Xfinity. During setup you are asked to select your ISP.  I guess this is added with the newer firmware. If you log in to the web interface, go to Advanced then ALG and check if SIP is disabled, if not, uncheck and then save.

I bought the G34 modem and got all the wires situated correctly with the router and the wall, but the setup app for the G34 is unavailable on Android devices. How can I complete the setup?

Wifi no longer works! Bought this in 2024 September from Amazon. Keeps on kicking out. Any suggestions?

Hello, I have tried 20 different ways to connect to the Modem/Router with my Win 10 Laptop and does not recognize it. It works on everything else except my work laptop. PLEASE HELP

Like I said in the tittle and keeps happening everyday. I saw other post about this with link on how to fix it but the link don’t work because the Arris comsumer care website is down and seems to have been for the past week. 

Mine has intermittent connection call xfinity and said that my g34 is not receiving the full signal and to get ahold of manufacturer

How can I change my WiFi name and password 

On my new G34 how do you get into the Surfboard App to configure or manage wifi?

I bought this new Modem Wi Fi last Saturday. I have gotten all my devices up and running except my HP5530 Printer. HP tells me I need to change the MAC address on the Modem Wi Fi because the printer cannot log onto the new Wi Fi network. The Geek Squad spent hours and couldn’t get the printer connected. Can someone tell me how to change the MAC address?

I returned this modem shortly after I got it, and over a year later, it still does not work.  I would love to get another modem from you all, but I do not trust the company anymore.  Please get in touch with me before I seek another company.

Plugged in the WiFi cable modem and connected to cable. The app setup says that I can’t connect and there is no internet

I have an Arris G34 Cable Modem Router Combo. I have set it up and the Internet is working fine. I can’t figure out how to get the router to connect with my printer. When I print the network status/check network connection, it says that the “MAC address filtering check failed. Check whether your router/access point has restrictions such as MAC address filtering. See the documentation of the router/access point or contact your network administrator for assistance.” Can someone please help?Thank you.

I see that this is a common question but none of the replies are resolving my issue. I have connected all of my devices to my network except my printer. None of the networks, i.e., 2.4, 5ghz, and guest do not appear in the list of networks in the HP setup wizard. I tried entering my network name manually with the WPA password. Nothing works. The printer cannot find the network. I have restarted the router and the printer. I really need to get this fixed.

My previous modem had the ability of sending the logs to a log service (I use PaperTrail / SolarWinds). I recently purchased a new modem Arris G34.  I cannot seem to find any UI option in the web UI (http://192.168.0.1).  There does not appear to be a way to send logs to a logging service.  Or maybe the option is hidden under some section that has to be enabled first? I tried looking through the owners manual online, and did some internet searches, but they either didn’t mention it or just said “turn it on in the logs section” for which there is no logs section in the UI. can you give me specific instructions, or tell me it is not supported?  Thanks!!!

The password on the bottom of the device isn't working. I may have changed it back when but haven't used it for quite some time so cannot recall the credentials. How do I reset them?

I have a G36 in the 1st floor corner of my house.  I have dead zones in basement and other side.  Tried a TP Link extender but hate the second name of the Extended Network.  Looking to add at least two Mesh Routers.  I have a CAT 5 where the g36 is that runs to the basement.  Can I add two Mesh Routers both hardwired from the existing G36 (one on 1st floor and one in basement) and use them as my wifi network?  Is that the best solution.  I imagine I have to disable the G36 WIFI router function somehow?  Which MESH do you recommend?

How do I change network name and password ? 

I have a wireless irrigation controller that runs on 2.4 ghz.  The controller says it is connected but is extremely slow to respond.
