G34 | G36

Hello, Ever since hooking up this modem, my download and latency are very slow on my Mac.  My Download is around 53 and my latency is at 41.  The screen also freezes frequently during ZOOM meetings.

All,I bough in December 2023 a new Arris G34 for my Xfinity 800Mbps service ( I replaced my SBG6580 after 12 years of service).A couple of issues:After I placed in production the G34, I checked the Software Version.It was Firmware Version:01.05.020.04.01.NCS. But after a few weeks, I noticed that my G34 is running “Firmware Version:01.04.028.01.01.NCS” . Is it normal for xFinity to downgrade the G34? I’m running Firefox 126.0 but I’m still getting the message on the G34 UI console  -  the version of Mozilla Firefox you are using is unsupported. Your Gateway's web interface has been tested to work with the minimum version: 63.0.3. For the past week, I have Internet connectivity issues ( 40% loss in Teams calls, my VPN client is keep disconnecting, the Verizon LTE Extender direct connected to the G34 LAN port can’t build the IPSEC tunnel , etc). Recently upgraded to the G34(Cox ISP), ever since upgrading my internet speeds have drastically fluctuated. They will be around 500-600Mbps, and then drop and stay around 30Mbps.I experience the speed Issues on my Phone, Work PC and Personal PC.  I’ve speedtested both PCs and both experience the same speed fluctuations. I’ve done the standard troubleshooting of power cycling, and reconnecting all cables. I’ve tried both Wifi and Ethernet connections both experience same speed fluctuations.I’ve spoken with Cox and they don’t see any issues with the signal/service they are sending.Tried checking the Modem settings through the App which is not super useful. I haven’t changed any of the security settings or anything, so they are all stock at this point.Any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated 

I recently upgraded to the Arris G36 and my WiiM streamer can not see the NAS DLNA anymore. I used DLNA to stream from my Asustor 5202T NAS to my WiiM streamer on the old router.  The Asustor NAS has plex, emby, and its own DLNA and separate UpNP servers running. These always showed up on my WiiM and even my Heos device prior to switching to the G36. I know DLNA is not being blocked overall because I turn DLNA on for my laptop, which is on WiFi and it will show up on the WiiM. Also the Emby client and the Plex client are able to connect through their own protocols to the servers on the NAS. This leads me to believe the G36 is somehow blocking the Asustor NAS for DLNA/UPnP but not servers from other devices. I am hoping this community can help me out. I have a VoIP phone line that I need to connect to the Arris Surfboard G34 but there is no where to plug it into. How do I connect the VoIP to the Arris

I’m trying to add a Smart Life app gateway to my 2.4 network. It fails each time. The directions ask that I ensure MAC filtering is turned off. How do I turn MAC filtering off? When I sign in and navigate to it, my choices Allow, Deny & Allow All. None seem to work. 

Can I use a range extender with my new cable modem

I’m having similar issues as well however for my case I’m not able to connect any devices to Xfinity . My devices connect just fine to the G 34 but the G 34 will not connect to the Internet. I have had it troubleshoot from Xfinity and they indicate that there is a sufficient signal coming to the house and that the modem is readable, but nothing connects through to it, this is definitely an Arris issue 

I have 1Gig internet with Comcast.  When plugged in with ethernet I’m getting 910 MB download, but after removing the cord the speed drops down to 20 MB, sitting within a foot of the modem.  Have already tried a factory reset with no change.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

My G34 is limiting access to just one laptop. Its the laptop that I original setup the network on. This seems to have happened randomly. Contacted my internet provider and they see it the router connected and are able to ping it. Connecting devices through ethernet works fine. Everything has looked fine on the IP site and the WIFI has a green check and shows the one laptop, but no other devices are able to connect. I’ve restored to factory default settings but that doesn’t seem to work. Any suggestions?

I’ve searched and don’t seem to be any clear way to submit a warranty claim for my G34 Gateway. The support site says to come to here, but then there isn’t any way to start a support chat. All it says it’s available. I had to switch back to my old modem and separate router since the Wi-Fi wasn’t showing any internet connection. No problem connecting to the Wi-Fi, but no internet connection from router to the internet and this is even after factory resetting the G34 Gateway.

Apple laptop & I phone seems to drop signal on g34.  all other devices seem fine.

I have recently purchased Surfboard G36 and found that I needed to cover more sq feet.  So I ordered the twin mesh W130.  My question is, can I add the two mesh W130s to the G36 and use them as extenders?  If so, I’m having a difficult time getting them set up.  As I navigate the app I keep getting error messages hooking into the internet.  

$300 for a top of the line Arris G36 and they won’t stand by it.  Comcast technician out for two hours and says that G36 and G34 won’t work and are incompatible with their network.  Hours on the phone/chat with Arris and the best they can do is send me another G36 in two or more weeks. That won’t help! Comcast told me to buy a Motorola modem or rent theirs. They see continuing incompatibility problems with G34 and G36.  I’m frustrated and caught in the middle.  I have other options on modem, but not on service in my area.  Arris took my $300 and ran.

I have forwarded port 22 (ssh) on my new g34, and it seems to work well for a time. I am able to establish an ssh connection from inside or outside my network using my public ip (ssh user@publicip) However, after a seemingly random amount of time, I am no longer able to connect to the forwarded port using my public IP from inside the LAN. Connections from outside the LAN continue to work fine (phone on 4g, other networks, etc...) and connections made using the local ip inside the LAN work fine. The issue only occurs when devices attempt to connect via my public IP while connected to my LAN.The same issue occurs on all forwarded ports. They work for a time, then stop. The biggest issues are caused by “port 80” being blocked. This prevents me from being able to access the website I host from home while using my computers at home. This is a major problem for me because it makes it difficult properly manage and maintain the website.Using the local IP when at home

Hello all,  Odd one that I’m hoping people here can help me troubleshoot. I’ve got some services (Jellyfin, Nextcloud, etc) running on a home server behind a reverse proxy. Normally, I access these servers at [service].[mydomain].com. Currently, on my LAN, this is not working. If I try to access the services outside of my LAN at the reverse proxy domain, they are working, and if I access the services directly by IP and port, they are working on my LAN. However, within my LAN, they are not accessible at the domains. Since the services work and the reverse proxy works outside my network, it seems I’ve got an issue in the network itself. I’m using a SURFboard G34 which I’ve only had for a few weeks. I have looked in the router WebUI and nothing seems amiss, but I really don’t know what I’m looking for. Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

Is there a way of disabling the router portion of the G36 and using it strictly as a cable modem?  If so, what are the steps?

I have A G34 network and all of a sudden our wifi network disappears, login to the G34 and all you can see is LAN connections, all of the wifi settings are gone and nobody has reset the G34 and Arris Support blamed it on an ISP update but I’m still checking that out.  Will keep you updated when I hear from Spectrum.

I need a replacement.  And I’m stuck in a circle trying to find online help on this site.

Factory reset the G34 after I couldn’t get the app working.  My thought was because I changed the SSID, the app will no longer connect. I may have done this via the web interface.  Anyway, after factory reset, the app worked just fine.  Then I went into web interface and changed user/password, and SSID.  I can no longer get the app working after five reinstalls, etc.  I am not going to reset the router again as I have the house working wifi and cable. I called support for the first time. The agent kept going in circles reading from a script.  The agent apparently never ran or saw the app.  The agent suggested I just use the web interface on a phone (i.e. keep zooming in to the page).  I could not get the agent to let me speak with a supervisor or open a ticket… We disconnected. It seems to be that the app and web interface are not in sync and the latter will lock out the app.  I have attached some screens. My G36 disconnected from my ADT security cameras. All window and door sensors are connected. The cameras won't reconnect. Has anyone else had a similar issue? Need to know why they don't connect.

We have a ARRIS G36 modem, with a 1 TB home coaxial connected  Xfinity link going to it. During every conference call, I either lose the connection, freeze up, or have generally bad connection. The modem is 1 year old, I am directly connected to it via Cat5E cable, there are 3 other devices connected wirelessly, what could be the issue???
