G54

A few days ago, my Internet on my G54 gateway started acting slow. It takes a while to load an entertainment app like YouTube, Netflix, Hulu and getting high ping while playing games to where it’s unbearable. But when doing a speed test on my G54 it says I’m getting over 300 download speed and 39 upload. So why is my Internet being so slow and having a high ping in games? Is it my modem thats acting up, or my ISP?

As the title states, everytime I get to the "register my device" part of this app, I get the wifi communication failure message with error Code 0000-1612.  I've reset my device numerous times with both hard and soft resets, un-installed the app, etc.  Apparently I need to get through that page to make an account username and password to get access to my admin page on my g54. This is more than frustrating.

I recently setup the modem/router and I get excellent speed on all devices except one, which is a HP laptop (when it is far from router).The speed that I am getting in the laptop (Windows PC) is excellent when it is on the same floor. But when it is in the second floor, the speed is 20-30 mbps. Interesting thing is that, the speeds are pretty good when I check from an ipad and chrombook while in the second floor.It appears that the PC is having hard time to get the performance just when it is in the second floor. Any idea what could be causing the slowness in the PC while there are no issues in chrome book and ipad. Thanks. Nm

I set up a G54 modem in my home in November, and configured my wifi networks using Split Mode. I had most of the devices connecting to the 5GHz network perfectly fine for a while. They were routinely getting speeds in the 400-500Mbps range. Then suddenly a couple weeks ago none of the wireless devices in my home were able to detect any of the networks except for the 2.4GHz one, and they were only getting speeds of ~50Mbps. According to the modem’s Admin GUI the 5GHz radio, 5GHz High radio, and 6GHz radio are all enabled and active. I tried a factory reset and turned Split Mode back on. Once again, my wifi devices could only detect the 2.4GHz network. I then disabled Split Mode and enabled Band Steering, hoping that they would get automatically directed to the faster band. But the Connected Devices page showed everything connected on the 2.4GHz band, and speed tests showed I was only getting ~50Mbps on that band. I tried enabling the Guest Network with the same results.

Hey all,I just got a new g54 modem/router. When I'm on the admin page, it tells me to input my email and password. I don't know this information and how would I recover this?

Some of my devices won’t connect to the WiFi. It allows me to select the SSID and password but won’t connect. My old router had specific channels for 2.4 and 5G so it didn’t have a problem. Any suggestions?

I have purchased the G54 and either on the app or the web interface is not showing the correct/all amount of devices.On the app, it is showing 5 connections simply called “Device”, all of them with a phone icon. Cross referencing the IP addresses from the web interface, only 4 of those IP addresses show up on both lists. The 5th IP address showing on the app is my personal computer.(The one I am using to look at the web interface) On the web interface, it is showing 4 devices connected, again with the 5th connection my app is reporting being the computer I am currently on. Not sure how the device I am accessing the web interface on doesn’t show up as connected. It is also consistently dropping my phones connection which does reflect on the web interface but not the app.THE ISSUE despite seeing either 4 or 5 connections here and there, is that I actually have 16 devices currently connected and working on my network. My G54 worked fine for few months now it's flashing green light and won't connect to internet.  ISP says it's the modem. It's pretty much brand new. 

When I try to login remotely to my G54 from my office using the IP address 192.168.128.1 it takes me to the web gui for my office router instead of the g54.  Is there another way to login remotely?

I’m having problems diving the networks 2.4 and 5 g I need to set up for cameras and I’m trying to do it in the app and I can’t find it anybody could help me   

Recently purchased and successfully installed G54 modem/router via Xfinity. No issues and I was able to connect phones and laptop via wifi. But in the app I only see the one device as connected. Also in the web interface the device list is always showing as "loading". I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app but did not resolve the issue. Please help.

Is there anyway to update friends whare G 54 four the Arries?

I was in the router/modem setup page, right after I picked my password it logged me out.Now the router is giving me a bad password error. The username is filled in by default “admin.” Am I missing something? I wrote down my password, so I know that’s not the problem.

Many of my connected devices do not appear correctly. I have erased the app from my phone several times and reinstalled it to no avail. On my computer it does show many of the devices on the network correctly. How can i fix this?  Also, what is the best way to identify devices on the network? 

Does anyone know a specific WiFi range extender that works with the G54?

I’m very disappointed with the performance of my G54 wi-fi signals all around. My house is only 1600 square feet. G54 is centrally located. My devices constantly drop connections while inside the house, my HomePods drop their ability to connect and need to be reset once a week, my video doorbell, which has a hub only 50 feet away from the router with a direct line of site reports a weak signal and eventually disconnects itself within a day of reconnecting. Im about to swear off Arris products for good but hoping that my unit is perhaps defective. Any ideas? 

I have the G54 wifi/router and recently purchased the 2 pack of the mesh devices W121.  Spent hours trying to get the W121 to work without success.  Do I need to change a setting in the G54 unit to make this work?  App keeps giving error codes which do not appear to provide answers.Please help.

how do you update this modem, where can you find the update files, because you can't update it inside the surfboard central app , the only reason I'm asking because the upload speed is good and the download speed is bad, we upgrade to 500 with cox, we had 250 before it was fine, sometimes it can disconnect, i had it for a week only.

I have the arris g54 model and the internet keeps cutting out.  I will have connection then will lose connection, then it will come back.  Solid blue light, then blinking green, then solid blue.  I've reset the modem numerous times, contacted xfinity and nothing works.

I’ve been using the Arris G54 and the Netgear RBE973S to test WIFI 7 and just wanted to provide some feedback on how the Arris performs so far. Its not a fair comparison as the Netgear has a few extra features/performance specs. Overall, its performance has been excellent. I have a 3200sq ft home and with it centrally located, it covers the whole home. I’m running around 60+ devices overall (40+ wireless) and I’ve had no issues or bandwidth concerns. I do have all but 1 of my 4k tv’s hardwired in because I prefer that for streaming. I do have the 10g port connected through a 2.5gig tp-link switch and it doesn’t have any issues saturating it. While the Netgear is faster on the peripheral (because of the satellites), the Arris keeps up in closer range and even will beat it on some tests. I’ve been able to saturate my multi-gig speeds over wireless. So if you have a mid-sided home, this should cover it great if you centrally locate it. What I like: I like havi

Internet company says I am connected to my internet on their end. But I am still unable to connect to my WiFi. They say it’s my modem. Has this happened to anyone else 

I am looking for the best way to set up a mesh system where I need two devices in the house and a 3rd unit connected by an ethernet cable to my steel pole barn 200 feet away.  I was looking at the W122 with the satellite wall plug and add at W21 in the pole barn. is this the best way or is there a better way?

For the price it has to offer 4x4 MIMO but the product page is awful.  It doesn't even mention if it supports the 6Ghz frequency.  There are Wi-Fi routers that support 2.4 and 5Ghz, and are Wi-Fi 7 so not having exact specifications specified on the product page does not make sense.  The product page might as well just say “Here’s a modem.  Give me money.”  What justifies the price?

I have a G54 modem/router and I would like to make it a mesh system, what mesh system works best for that? I do need to be able to connect with an ethernet cable due to my pole barn having metal walls.

When i put my G54 in bridge mode and connect it to tp-link Archer AX55 i have internet for about 5 mins and then I lose both wifi and land line connections.
