G54

I’ve had an air surfboard mesh system for years.  I have 3 -W31 units. One is the router and the other 2 are satellites to extend signal. I have SB8200 modem. Looking to upgrade but curious if I can still use the W31s as satellites if I upgrade to G54. If so, is there a limit to the number of satellites I can connect? thx,cable

Is it possible to completely disable the WiFi radios on the G54?I didn’t even think this was a question needing to be asked, until I got a competitor’s product today, and it’s impossible to turn off the radio. (Verified with tech support.) So that’s being returned.The G54 is my next choice, I’ve read the manual, and that doesn’t say that you can. That does say you can turn off the 2.4GHz radio in section 4 of configuring your WiFi. It even has a picture of the screen with a big button to turn the radio off. The sections on 5 and 6 GHz don’t have a picture, and say to repeat steps 5 on (so no step 4).There are several other threads here, which are unclear on this, and show various disable buttons on various screens. Or you have to go into bridge mode.So with the latest firmware, can you turn off all radios on the G54, which still being a router? 

I have an TP link Archer 5400 someone gave me would like to bridge it to the G54 using the G54 as main router is this possible? Or would I only be able to use G54  in Bridge mode? I’s really prefer to use the G54 as main router leaving the Wi-Fi on? I am able to put the Archer 5400 in Access mode and connect to the G54 but only with Ethernet cable can I do this wirelessly?

Not all four 1 gbps ports are putting out 1000 mbps. Getting the following connection strength.Port 2: 1000 mbps down and upPort 3: 1000 mbps down and upPort 4: 100 mbps down and upPort 5: 10 mbps down and up (Does not work properly)Is this normal?

I just got the g54 today, I set it up and it is connected to my isp.  Every couple hours the g54 will lose connection then reconnect.   I will have internet then all the sudden I lose it and have to wait for the g54 to reset, then I get my internet back. 

I set up my g54 for port forwarding but ports are still shown as closed on port checker. 

The web interface of my G54 is not loading devices so I’m not able to manage them. Any suggestions? 

Hello.  My older modem had an RJ11 plug to connect my landline to it since it runs on Comcast too.  I got a converter on Amazon, but doesn’t work.  I thinking there must be a specific connector to make this work?  Any recommendations greatly appreciated.

Is the G54 modem/router a better device than a Xfinity XB8 gateway?

I am looking to use the G54 with an eero.  To do this I need to disable the router aspect of this device.  How do I do that?

So I’m at a loss….. I’m trying to locate the DTMI settings on the admin page for the Arris G54. But I’m not finding them anywhere. Am I just completely overlooking it?! thanks 

How do I add my new ax7800 mesh router (pair) to my G54 cable modem? The app does not show an "add device" option. 

Attempting to help by clarifying a couple of things that I saw from an earlier post that has since had the comments ability turned off.This unit does not contain what we Xfinity users have come to know as eMTA jacks on the back to handle voice service directly from Xfinity.  I used to have Xfinity voice service but several years ago migrated over to Ooma.  The Ooma device, depending on which model you have, will either be ethernet only or ethernet/wifi.  I just activated my G54 unit last night but have already found that my Ooma device, connected by ethernet cable to one of the ethernet jacks on the back of the G54, is working as expected for both incoming and outgoing calls.  

This is a known problem with the G54.  I get Constant disconnects all the time.  I have 2 G54s and I’ve got a friend with 1 as well.   1 of them is at my home with xifnity, the other is with Utopia fiber, which is 40 miles away.   My friend gets disconnects all day long and I get disconnects all day long on both of my G54s.  I have spent hours and hours on the phone with xfinity, Uptopia and Arris support.  Both my ISP providers have updated the firmware, have replaced all the cables, connectors, etc.  Even Arris has replaced one of my modems thinking it was a bad modem.  I’ve tried doing factory resets, changing channels, disabling the wifi and NOTHING works.   I know for a fact that it’s something with the modem because my friend can’t get his to work correctly and I can’t get either of mine to work correctly either.  Now I’m past the point of not being able to return it and it’s very frustrating.  I can take my old 7 year old Linksys modem and reactiva

When I opened the app it said it needed to be updated on a G54. I began the update but it’s still stuck at 0% and has been that way for the last several hours. Can someone help?

My brand new Arris 54 is unable to maintain 2Gbps speeds on Xfinity residential 2Gbs service.  If I reboot the G54, I’ll get excellent 2Gbps speeds of 2200-2300 speeds, but very soon after that I can only erratic speeds from 200-1200Gbps.  Using Comcast’s modem, I consistently got 2200-2300 Gbps download speeds.  What’s wrong with the Arris G54

Is it possible to integrate the G54 with the NETGEAR Orbi 970 mesh WiFi, and if so, how is it set up?

How can My modem reset to factory settings without me?  Xfinity said it wasn’t them and the modem might be malfunctioning.  The modem is less than 6 months installed.  Been having network issues ever since I connected it to Xfinity.  Thanks.

To be honest I’m very disappointed so far with my G54, but mainly for one reason, no VPN. (Nothing wrong with speeds/channels/etc.) I want to protect my entire network, but several reviews I have found online say the G54 will not support a VPN (Example, NordVPN, ExpressVPN, etc.), nor do I find an example in the user guide. (which also happens to look like a recycled S33 guide), on how I might set one up.I do see a mention of VPN under IPV4 Maximum Security (see attached image), but have found nothing on how to set one up, if it is even possible. I’m seriously contemplating returning this product if I’m unable to setup a VPN, but I might have missed my return window, and this wasn’t a cheap product. How in 2024 would this not be supported?Will there be a firmware update that enables this feature? I would even pay a on

For the past month, I’ve been having issues with losing internet on my G54.  When it happens, unplugging and replugging resolves the issue temporarily.  The issue will go away for several days and then resurface to the point where I’ll have to reboot 2-3 times in a single day.  This has made troubleshooting with my ISP difficult, since they make every effort to avoid sending a technician.  However, the reason I’m posting this here is because I noticed that even when I have no internet, the light on my router/modem is steady blue to indicate that everything is working fine.  Furthermore, I recently went into the GUI and noticed that ALL of the event logs and system logs are completely empty for the past 90 days.  I’m curious to know if anyone else has experienced this with their G54 where there’s no internet but the router/modem itself thinks everything is totally fine.

I assume from the product webpage that this is not compatible with ooma (digital voice).  Please verify this. Is it compatible with Ring Cams (voice also)?  Alexa”  Hue Hub? For those that have purchased this, are there any issues with it?

I recently purchased a G54 modem/router and have been connecting my devices.  However, my Samsung TV about three years old will not connect to the WIFI.  All my other devices seem to connect easily.
