Modems

Been using current modem and router for years, suddenly our network name is not showing up at all for connecting to WiFi. Checked with Xfinity and they said it must be an equipment issue. Checked with our router and it appears to be working well. Must be the surfboard SB6190.. any troubleshooting tips beyond unplugging and replugging and ensuring the coaxial cable is tight in wall and device? 

Lights on the back  Ethernet ports are both flashing green. Is this ok?

I just bought a SB8200 to replace an older arris modem, and while my wifi is working, nothing on my hardwired network is connecting.  I have the modem connected to an 8 port switch, and then router is connected through the switch, as well as my Apple TVs and Hue bridge. The router is getting signal and the wifi works fine but the other devices can’t connect.

I checked it by logging onto 192.198.100.1.The cox/modem connection does not seem to work. I can’t communicate to the WWW.The modem was purchased and delivered on 8 Mar. This is my first attempt to use it. Any idea what I need to look at or do to fix the issue? Another thing. I looked at the log file after I logged into the modem. The log file has about 74 entries, starting in 3/2023. Is this a new modem?

Modem staying connected to internet but won’t stop constant high pitch squealing sound. Been a few days now.

Hi, I have had an Arris Surfboard SB6190 for around 8 years and it has, over the last perhaps year or so, gotten much worse and now, every so often and many times a day, it intermittently disconnects all devices (even a direct cable-connected device) from the internet for between 5 and 60 seconds. The ISP (Xfinity) says the device communicates with their network with no issues. When I use the admin interface and check status, using this trouble-shooting link I found (https://arris.my.salesforce-sites.com/consumers/articles/General_FAQs/SB6190-Cable-Signal-Levels), I see that: The PDL (Power Download Level?) values are all within the desired range. The SNR values are all ok. the PUL (Power Upload Level?) values are all ok.Here i

We installed Xfinity 1000/40 residential service in, I think, 2017, and installed the SB8200 as the modem. It’s been working. (BIG thumbs up! I cannot complain about several years of flawless service.) When Xfinity bumped service to 1200 a couple years after that, we saw no immediate reason to change modem hardware. Just last week, tho, I discovered that they didn’t just bump it to 1200 down, they also bumped it to 200 up. Nobody talks about the uplink rate. I’ve only been seeing 40 up the whole time since. Well then! I would really like to bump up that uplink rate!I called an Xfinity tech in, who tested the coax up to 2000/450, and what we’re paying for (1200/200), and then speed tested through the modem: the up link rate was 40 Mbps through the SB8200.Is there something I can do to the SB8200 that’ll get me to the promised land (200 Mbps up)? If not, is there another Arris modem that fully supports Xfinity Docsis 3.1 1200/200 coax service?

COX has been working on upgrading the 500/10 plan to the new 500/50 10% plan.   My modemis a SB6190 (32x8).   A few years back I used to have a 300/30 plan but had to kill it becausemy cable tv and internet package was getting to expensive.   My modem spec states it’s good for 262mbps upload speed.  Currently I am at 500/10.  When I asked if I will get the 500/50 10% plan they say NO because the max upload speed is only 10mbps.  They keep saying it’s because it’s a 3.0modem.  If that’s the case why did I have 300/30 a few years ago and why does the MFG specstate the upload speed max is 262mbps.  Even if it was half of that it certainly is more than 50 up.Is COX BS ing me or has something changed that prevents a modem spec of 262 upload not workon COX for 50 up?Thanks,Ken

Just bought yesterday typing to get going this morning need help something isn't right

I bought the Surfboard® SB6190 on Amazon and it is just out of refund date. I have had to constantly reset the modem over the last month and don’t feel it is working as fast as it should. Since the site shows a 2 year warranty, is there a way to send it back to the company for a refund?

This is something I’ve noticed recently, but during a zoom, video stream or even playing video games there is a bit of a blip that reconnects 10-15 seconds later.This is paired with an Asus Orbi RBR850.Something very interesting to note… every 10 minutes (exact), the led light on the modem switches from green to blue and vice versa. Looking at the user guide the modem is switching docsis mode? Why is that? I’ve reached out to Xfinity for assistance,  but I’ve already attempted to rest both appliances with no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated… Thank you.

I bought my Arris S33 modem July 4 2022 through Amazon for over $300.00less than two years have gone by (07/04/2022 - 01/26/2024) and my warranty with Arris is already expired according to their website. I have been experiencing a lot of problems staying connected to the internet even though I usually get nice speeds when I am connected.  I went to my ISP, Optimum, and the front counter associate checked out my modem and let me know it was causing the intermittent issues due to 4 bad channels out of the 32 channels it has.  He then explained to me that the modem most likely does not have anyway of just turning off the 4 bad channels.  So, my question is can I fix my modem such as turning off the 4 bad channels it has, or can I still return my modem to Arris to have them fix and/or replace it even though it’s no longer under warranty? Thanks for any help in advance.

I recently purchased a refurbished modem and it didn’t come with a WiFi username and password 

Bought this modem thinking it would bring my download speeds close to the 2000 Mbps rated comcast Xfinity speed I subscribe to, but I am only able to get around 718 Mbps down and 5.8 up. After several attempts at trying to play with settings, OS, and multiple computers, I called in for support through Comcast. They tried their best with their magical keyboard skills, to no avail. Finally, a service technician was sent to determine the issue. After doing many more tests to coax cable, modem, router, cat5e & 6 cables, technician determined that the issue was at the modem.He was able to show me on his device that the speeds coming in all the way to the modem were in fact 2247 Mbps down and 386 up. Unfortunately, there was no resolution, and the return window on Amazon has expired.If anyone has found a way of increasing speeds, please share. Thx.

Hi All:  I recently set up an SB8200 to take advantage of faster speeds offered by WOW.  My previous modem SBG6580 was working fine.  A serious casualty to the upgrade was my pair of Apple Airport Extreme drives.  I use them for wireless service to my home and as a streaming drive for music to my iPad.  I could not get the drives to set up properly with the new SB8200 modem installed.  My situation was that I could have wired internet service to my Mac desktop.  OR I could have connectivity wired between the Apple drives and the mac with wireless functionality indicated on wireless devices - but NO INTERNET.  I couldn’t have it all.  It was all working together before the upgrade.  After hours of playing with settings on the Apple drives in the AirPort Utility, I reinstalled the old SBG6580 and had WOW turn it back on.  Everything effortlessly re-acquainted and it is all working fine again.  I really would like to get the SB8200 working correctly with the Apple drives but don

Is the SB6183 compatible on optimum internet at 50-100 mbps?

Bought the SB8200 about a month ago, it is V3. Direct connect the modem to desktop, got into a strange page per shown. ISP is Spectrum. Research online, I used the last 8 digits of S/N, and admin, get nothing to next page. My goal is modem password change. Thank you.  

I'm recently having frequent losses of internet connection with my Surfboard SB6121 modem.  These have been fixable (so far) by restarting the modem or having my ISP do a reset.   The log shows two error codes that happened at the times of these interruptions:  Z00.0 and R02.0. Please explain what these codes mean, and what needs to be done to fix the problem. ~ Thanks in advance for your help!~ Ken Winter

I recently installed S33 to take advantage of Comcast 2G+ package. After a few hours with various teirs of comcast tech support, it was concluded that the S33 can’t be configured to work at the expected speeds.I have been a satisfied owner of the SurfBoard T25 and hoped the S33 would deliver the same satisfaction but sadly, this is not the case. Upload speeds of 5Mbps just does not do it. The findings were that a “Boot file” Comcast use to activate the CM reports itself as “INVALID”.Arris - please work this issue out with Comcast or stop advertizing the S33 as Comcast compatible so other customers are not misled.Thanks. 

user id/ password reset

i have an sb6141. i just hooked it up a few days ago. it was working off and on, and a quick unplug re plug seemed to fix it while i tried to figure out its errors. xfinity can see it, but it wont connect to internet or reset. they say to contact arris. the phone app is useless pretty much cause it wont hook to the data for it so i can figure out the error. this is new so i am very unhappy.  Any suggestions

I need the password for the SB8200 modem to get internet on my Apple I-Phone 13 PRO
