ISP Complaining aboutSB6190 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem

Recently, a technician from the evil ISP I currently forced to pay $94.99 for 500 Mbps internet access (as they have a monopoly on internet connections in my area) tried unannounced,  to swap out my cable modem for an ISP provided DOCSIS 3.1 modem. The technician insisted that my current modem was cause issues with the ISP’s signal.  Sensing this was yet another of the ISP’s manipulative lies, I refused to change modems. The event log noted some issues, e.g., “No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out...”My questions are:Did the technician have a point? Since the SB6190 cannot be “updated” to DOCSIS 3.1, is it necessary to buy a new cable modemThank you, Umrk

Is there an upgradable cable modem out there?

According to a SB6190 related post, the firmware on a SB6190  DOCSIS 3.0 cannot be updated or upgraded to  DOCSIS 3.1. Therefore, before I (waste) spend any more $$$, I’d like to know if the firmware for any currently available SB  DOCSIS 3.1 cable modems are capable of being updated by the user, NOT the ISP? I already have strongly negative feelings for the ISP I am subjected to, and would like to remove as much control  they have over my hardware, at least until a competing ISP is available in my area.TIA,Umrk.

SB8200 Not Accepting Cox Gigablast Provisioning

I purchased a new SB8200 to upgrade from Cox 500mbps service to Cox Gigablast. Cox confirmed that my modem was supported.  After installation, I contacted Cox to provision my modem.  After provisioning, I was still only receiving 500 mbps.  A service tech was sent to the house. All cabling between the box on the street to the modem was replaced. There is only one splitter that connects a modem for Cox landline phone. The service tech confirmed that a 1.1 gig signal was present at the modem, but only 500 mbps leaving the modem via ethernet connection. The modem was reset, hard reset, and re-provisioned multiple times with no success. Cox is blaming the modem since it was not provided by them. I have accessed the modem online and confirmed that everything looks normal.  There are 32+2 downstream channels and SNR and power levels appear to be within spec. The event log shows some CM status messages (16 and 24) and the occasional DHCP renew warning. I don’t think there’s anything wrong wit

SB8200 Not Accepting Cox Gigablast Provisioning

I purchased a new SB8200 to upgrad from 500 mbps to Cox Gigablast internet.  This modem is on Cox’s approved list for Gigablast internet. Cox tech support provisioned the modem but speeds remained at 500 mbps. A technician was sent to the house.  The technician ran new cable from the street to the house and confirmed that 1.1 gig was arriving to the modem, but only 500 mbps coming from the modem.  Technician performed multiple resets, hard resets, and provisions with no success. Cox is now blaming the modem for the issue. I’m skeptical.  Any help you can provide would be appreciated. Modem diagnostics below. Identifying latest firmware for modem

Is there an official publicized place by Arris that states what the latest firmware version is? Specifically, I have a Surfboard SB8200. What is the latest software/firmware version for the SB8200 modem? I understand that it is the responsibility of my ISP to update the firmware of my modem. However, I would like to know what the latest version is so that I can keep my ISP honest and accountable.

Printer Connecting

I have 3 printers and I can’t get any of them to connect to the network. One is a HP Deskjet Plus 4155, one is a Canon TS5100 series and the third is an Epson Ecotank 2803. And, I seem to have lost my sound when this modem/router got installed.

issues all if the sudden SB6183

Internet has been dropping the last two weeks because they are messing with the signal or something. Xfinity says everything working just fine on their end but I still have issues. No internet, wi-fi only. Is there a fix for this modem or is it just to outdated?

SB6190 Firmware Update

I called my ISP they told me they do not update firmware on my modem since I own it and do not rent from them.  So how do I go about updating the firmware on the modem?  They advised me to reach out to the manufacturer for a firmware update.

What is the Default Admin Password for the SURFboard SB6190.?

Just need the default password for the SB6190 have done the master reset.. but still need the password.all the lights flash.. everything is good…. just can't login … looked all over this site and have not seen this info. there is not sticker. Used unit. have tried last 8 of serial number, password, 12345678… ect..any other ideas ???? HELP PLEASE LOL

 am trying to reinstall my sb8200 from several month ago.... i can not sign into gui....i see most of this provlem is solved by resetting and entering defaults and i tried several times but i can not sign into 192.168.100.1........Please help thank you. i just want to try the WAN aggregation is there another way other than the gui?thank you in advance

Well I did research on modems and the SB8200 kept saying it was a great modem (my old modem was a Arris).  I guess I should have went with the statement that costumer service was VERY weak. Every time I call, call can't be completed. Anyway I can not log into the router. I put in address and prompted to enter admin and password and it keeps saying wrong info. I have tried to use password and also the last 8 digits. Still no avail. Any help would be appreciated.  If can't get it password protected I guess I will have to return it.

Sporadic latency when pinging modem

Hello,When I ping my modem (SB8200), I get inconsistent performance with some small and large outliers. My modem is connected directly to my router, and the latency when I ping my router is consistent across thousands of pings. The modem on the other hand consistently has these spikes, regardless of payload size or frequency. I created a graph to visualize the pings (4000 pings each, sorry for the quality, used google sheets). The modem isn’t overheating and is less than 1 foot away from the router.The firmware version is: AB01.02.053_082120_193.0A.NSHWhat could be causing this deviation? Thanks.

SB8200 Can't Login

Using 192.168.100.1 login is rejected.  Reset the modem with a paper clip and tried “admin” and “password” but they’re repeatedly rejected as invalid username or password.   Any idea how to access modem settings?   Thanks.

SB8200 and Cox IPv6

According to Cox Internet, I need to “enable” IPv6 on my modem using the Admin console.Unfortunately, the “official” documentation they sent me (https://routerexperts.net/arris-router-enable-ipv6/) seems non-applicable to the situation.The online /phone /chat support drones can’t seem to understand how to even spell IPv6, they just keep saying that _I_ have to configure it on my end.Can anyone help with documentation links or other tips /tricks for figuring out what range and prefix is being advertised to my modem?

how to get DOCSIS 3.1 to display

I have a new modem on Optimum 400mb service.  My older modem registered fine but the new 8200 is not picking up DOCSIS 3.1 even though the provider says it is being used.  How do you resolve this.  Support telephone number is useless!

pay for 300 Mbps, only getting 250

I have Spectrum; I pay for 300 Mbps (w/only 10Mbps up). I have an Arris 6141 which claims to be able to do 343 Mbps. I can't seem to clock more than 255 Mbps. Should I call Spectrum, should I try another modem, or should I just be happy I'm getting 85%.(Just in case anyone asks: I did plug a laptop directly into the ethernet line coming from the modem: I'm not going through any router).

is the SB8200 affecting the Wi-FI?

I have xfinity and using a SB8200 and a TP-Link AX3000 besides for Wi-FI I also have the 2 laptops and an TV connected to the AX3000 My Wi-Fi is going from 800Mbps to ZERO randomly and frequently , even after I run reboots on both the SB8200 and the AX3000. all firware is up to date. Please note that the devices connected to the AX3000 continue to run strong even when there’s no Wi-Fi this is the 3rd router I’ve had this happen to in the past 2 years so i’m thinking it’s not the router any longer. Has anyone had this experience  with an SB?

If I try to load the ARRIS SB6190 Web Manager Access page 192.168.100.1 I get "403 Forbidden" (tried multiple browsers). I’m assuming that when xfinity reprovisioned for internet access, it locked me out from looking at or making any changes to the modem’s configuration? Does that sound right? Currently, my ISP speeds are about 1% of what they had been (using the same modem) up until now (download 0.5Mbps vs 89.3Mbps). I am testing the speed with the modem connected directly to my PC (ethernet cable). I’m about to use the RESET button on the back of my SB6190 (which is what was recommended to me once before by ARRIS for an earlier Surfboard modem I was using that had a similar problem). After the reset, I plan to used the xfinity mobile app to  reprovision for internet access. Does that also sound right? Thanks.

Internet Connectivity via WiFi

I’m using Spectrum as my ISP.  I use a SB8200 modem.  As of this morning, internet through my wifi stopped working.  When I run directly from the modem to my laptop via ethernet, I’m able to get internet without a problem.  I did all the routine steps to cycle both modem and router, including factory restoring both.  And I tried 3 different cables between the modem and router.  I figured the router (Linksys EA8300) must be the problem, so I went out and bought a new router (Netgear Nighthawk RAXE300).  Same problem.  WiFi works fine, but no internet.The router shows a solid red internet light, indicating it’s detected the connection but isn’t receiving internet connection.  I’m struggling to understand how going to my pc through the same LAN port, I get internet.  Connecting to the router it does not recognize the internet connection.  What am I missing? My family is losing their collective minds.  Any ideas?

I understand it’s possible to find browser history on my router.  Can someone tell me where I could find this on my Arris router?  I’ve clicked through every where I know to look but can’t find it.  It says I have a DG 3450A? Thanks!
