SBG10

Hi, I was looking into my SBG10 firewall/firmware and I believe it needs an update.  I received a new work laptop and every time I connect my laptop to the wifi the whole wifi/SBG10 just drops (I am on my second new laptop since I thought it was a laptop wifi connection issue).   I was able to access the configuration via the web, but it doesn’t give me an option to update.  I reset the device multiple times already.  The firmware version is 9.1.103AA85.  I logged in the Surfboard App.  I also logged in the Surfboard Connect App, but it was having issues connecting to the network (no issues with the wifi since all my home devices were connected).  I get the error code 0000-1612.  How can I find the most recent firmware version for SBG10? I just called Arris customer support and they advised that the service provider (Xfinity in my case) manages and has control of the firmware versions and updates.  Is this correct?  If so, I’ll have to contact Xfinity.  Thank you in advance.

My modem has all lights solid green but none of my devices have been able to connect to the internet. I've tried power cycling the modem but didn't get anywhere. I've also contacted my ISP and they said that everything was good on their end and there was nothing they could do.

Hey everyone! Like many I’ve tried to trouble shoot online, with no luck. My SBG10 is having some intermittent connectivity issues. When this happens, the SBG10 reboots itself and reconnects and restores service automatically after a few moments. This would be fine but I work from home and it is resulting in a lot of dropped calls. This issue started on 9/11, the same day there was an ISP outage for unplanned service maintenance, which makes me think something on their end got wonky. PC is hardwired in, not on Wifi, though everything that is connected to SBG10 drops service as well. This happens maybe 4-5 times a day. I’ve talked to the ISP twice who say that everything is fine on their end. Checked the coax cables to make sure they are snug, removed the only splitter I had and plugged the modem directly into the coax coming from outside. Same results. Not sure what else I can do here, other than get some second opinions. If it comes down to needing a new modem, that’s fine.

Hello I have a model SGB10 that i purchased approximately four years ago and I am trying to update the firmware. I have had great dificulty tring to log onto the Arris web manager . I read online that the default username/password combo is “admin” and “password” respectively. I tried that and then got a mesage that says “Invalid user name or password, or your access has been locked due to multiple failed login attempts!” I tried using the SSID and key that are on my device’s sticker, but that didn’t work either. If I select “Device Status” then it will bring up the box with info such as # of connected clients, firmare version, etc. Why isn’t there a way to reset passwords via an email link?!? I tried doing a hard reset but that doesn’t seem to have changed the login back to default settings. I have tried using both the original orange Surfboard app as well as the Surfboard Central app and have had made little progess there either. For the orange surfboard

I have had my modem for 2 years. Woke up this morning and the online light is not on. Contacted xfinity and they said there is no outage in my area. I have unplugged and reset and still can’t connect. 

Yesterday afternoon my devices showed no internet connection so I reset my router. This morning they still showed no internet connection but now the router is showing no connection to the network. Each time I try to reset it, the first 2 lights flash like they normally do, but the network light continues to flash but never fully connects and then the device eventually shuts itself off. Every now and then the lights go through a full cycle and the device appears to be fully connected, but none of my electronics are able to access the internet. I’m not sure what to do from here since I can’t even get enough of a connection to run the internet connectivity testing.

I am replacing my SBG10 after many years of faithful service with SBG8300. How do I deactivate the SMG10?

I just received my modem and I am wondering, do I have to use a coaxial cable, the power connection cable that came with it, and an Ethernet cable, or are these three different options of setting it up? I only have the power cord that came with it so does that mean I need to go out and by a coaxial cable? Thanks 

How can I managed the several hard wired devices on my LAN through the SBG10. Preferably this would be done by assigning static LAN IP addresses.

I replaced my WIFI modem with the SBG10. I can no longer print directly from my iPhone or iPad. Research indicates I need to activate the bonjour service or zeroconf. I cannot find these options anywhere. Can someone point me in the right direction?

I have sbg10 wifi model, I am trying to setup wifi configuration. Plugged in ethernet cable to my laptop and visitied 198.168.0.1 and entered the password shown on the modem under admin username. it is showing incorrect password or locked due to multiple tries. I tried hard resetting too but not working either.Can someone guide me on how to setup the wifi config ? also looks like the device is out of warranty period for free support.

I am trying to change the password and it asks for “old password”. I assumed this was the word “password” that I used to login in under “admin”.  When I fill in all the boxes and click “Apply” it says the old password is incorrect.  I tried entering the WIFI Security key of the unit and it didn’t like that either.  What is the old password?  Thanks.

Both ethernet interfaces on my SBG10 just quit working.  The Wifi, cable modem, and firewall components are still fine. I’ve swapped ethernet cables (they work fine with other devices), unplugged and re-plugged, and done a factory reset.  It seems like the Ethernet ASIC has failed. I’m covered under warranty until Mar of 24, so how do I get warranty support on this modem?

I am needing to port forward my router but its only letting me do certain ports and not others

I’ve been having internet connection problems for 3 weeks. The SBG10 we have is at least 4-6 months old (from amazon--new) along with the coax cable. I’ve gone to my ISP numerous times with them always saying ‘it’s fine on our end’ but our connection continues to be spotty with internet going in/out and getting kicked off gaming servers all day.  Normal troubleshooting has already included checking cables, doing hard restarts of the entire modem, cables cables cables. The problem persists as my gaming computer and my roommates PS5 (both hard wired into the modem) get knocked out by the internet. I’m not very into modems but I am very frustrated and a bit tech savvy. I figured I can peek into the event log and create a constant ping in my cmd window. I found the event logs are relaying a “Loss of Sync” issue. The event logs are a bit behind but ARE showing that when I time out of constant connection in cmd, it shows up in the event logs shortly after as a Sync loss. 

I did a factory reset on my SBG10 but it did not reset the admin password back to admin. And I can’t find anyway to change it.  please advise.  

Have the SBG10 and downloaded the new surfboard app and the SBG10 is good but keep getting error code 0015-1805 in the app reset to factory and reinstalled the app same thing what is the solution

What is the default password for an SBG10?

Every 15-30 min. modem/router keeps restarting itself. All lights goes off and starts the single light boot up. Comes up and works fine for 15-30 min and then restarts. Xfinity said to reach out to you.

Good Morning! I have an sbg10 that I installed in place of my xfi gateway. When I plugged it in, all devices worked fine.I went to bed and woke up the next morning to my phone and computers saying no internet connection available but it was connected to my arris network. I plug in my xfi gateway and the internet works, I plug in my arris and everytime now it says no internet connection but I can connect to the arris network.I had the modem for about 4 or 5 years now, never had a problem with it. I'm having g the issue now in a new place of residence. I guess it could have failed but is there anyway to run tests. I feel like it's a xfi issue like they have this modem locked out for some reason, is that a thing? Also...if I plug an ethernet cable into the modem and the TV, the ethernet connection does NOT work as well. Thabk you Jonathan

Cannot connect to 192.168.0.1 no matter what device I use.I just performed a factory reset on the router. I can connect to wifi using default SSID and Wifi security key. However not able to change them. Please help me how. the app doesn’t seem to work at all. It doesn’t even recognize that my device is connected to the router via wifi

I tried to change name and password on my SBG10 and now am locked out of the router ip how do I get back in?

My ARRIS SURFBOARD SG10 Modem no longer lights up or “turns on” when connected to a working power outlet with the correct plug and source following a power outage and xfinity network interruption. I don’t understand if the modem should just be trashed and I purchase another or if there is still hope for troubleshooting. Please send advice!
