SBG8300

I’ve had a lot of issues with my internet since I moved into my apartment. Finally someone at Comcast told me my modem was incompatible with my speed so I bought an SBH8300. I’m trying to set up the modem and the lights are constantly flashing. The internet light blue and the wifi light green. They were both solid green like the manual says they should be for just a second and then started flashing again.  I’ve tried contacting Xfinity but they’ve been useless and apparently arris doesn’t have a customer service line anyone can call. So I am here. Help me. 

Unable to login in with default admin username and password. Keep getting Invalid user name or password, or your access has been locked due to multiple failed login attempts! I can admit, i went in a changed the names and passwords for the network and saved changes before changing the admin login credentials. Also, the router came with 4 connection options (2 standard and 2 5G- one for home and guest each). However, the site only allowed ne the option to change two and the other two are still available with the default names and default password.  Any suggestions to access and manage my router through the admin portal?

Where can I obtain a new power adapter for a surfboard SBG 8300? also what is with comcast infinity   are we compatable or not?

Gateway is visible to Spectrum and moves data at a whopping 1Mbps!  That’s 1M, with an M.  Spectrum coming out tomorrow.  Any thoughts welcome. 

Is it possible to schedule the sbg8300 to turn off Wi-Fi or the modem at a certain time and restart at a certain time. 

i have the sbg 8300 and google  1 gig fiber internet. i have the modem set to ethernet mode where it doesnt use the coax cable for data input it uses one of the ethernet ports.  my speed is very slow like 56mbps down and 70 up. any ideas ?

SBG8300  was dropping internet a few times per day. Did a hard reset with button on back. Signed on to Surfboard access on web and it asked to set a new wifi password.I was able to setup all devices successfully and now it will not allow me to access the modem via web.admin password does not work, my old user and pass does not work and nor does the wifi password I setup work  with user admin or my old user name.How to I access ?

The router does not seem to fully connect to our internet. We have the very high gigs but that isn't coming across to our phones. Any suggestions?

When I plug my DVR for my security cameras into my modem by ethernet, It kills most of my wifi signal. How do i prevent this? 

I need to disable the wifi on my SBG8300 but I still want to be able to use all the ports.  How can I disable the wifi without having to put it in bridgemode?

I need to connect my Arris SBG8300. I don’t have a hard wired computer. they are all wireless. any ideas on how to do this 

I am trying to set up my Gateway and it says I have no internet connection. When I sign in as an admin, the WAN address is inactive. Does someone know how I can properly set up the internet part of my gateway? Thanks! 

I have changed nothing on my SBG8300 to have caused this problem.  For several years I have used this home modem to connect to my company VPN and then log into my company's factory firewalls to access their network(s).  I have been using the company issued Cisco AnyConnect VPN software.  For the past month, when working from home,  I am not able to access the firewalls and the browser reports that the address cannot be found.  On infrequent occasion I have connected to a firewall but there is no rhyme or reason for why it worked.  Restarting the modem does not help.  My internet provider (Xfinity) tech support remotely examined it and didn’t know what the problem was so she suggested I get a new one (LOL, she gave up).  I can access the firewalls using my cell phone hotspot or another location that provides internet, but not through my modem.  At one point today I tried disabling the modem internal firewall but that did not help.  When I re-enabled the modem firewall and restarted t

I am unable to connect the SBG8300 to the WOW network. I am connecting through the same coaxial port that my current WOW rented modem is connected to as I type this. While on the line with WOW, they said they could not find it via the HFC MAC. The lights on the modem were green and I do not have any splitters or anything complicated connected to this line. Has anyone encountered this or been able to get this router working with WOW? 

My ARRIS SURFboard SBG8300 occasionally makes a whirring noise.  I've only had it for 7 months.  Should I be alarmed?  Thanks for any help.

Whe I test my network speed on my Surfboard app I can only see the upload and download speed from my device to the modem.  Why can't I see the speeds from my modem to my ISP?

Was finally able to get my new refurbished SBG8300 to activate with my Optimum service but the WiFi network does not seem to work. None of my devices are able to connect to either 5Ghz or 2.4Ghz networks.When the optimum service finally worked/activated the WiFi did work on my phone for a bit and then I am now no longer able to connect to the 5Ghz WiFi network but can connect to the 2.4Ghz one but without network connectivity/internet.  LAN connected devices all have no issues getting connected to network and accessing the web. Is there something wrong with the WiFi settings or does Optimum also need to activate for the WAN MAC Address as well as the lady only did it for the HFC MAC Address?

ISP is installing internet to my newly constructed house.  I purchased the SBG8300 for Xfinity service.  Instructions require that the ethernet cable connects to my laptop.  I have a MacBook Pro, which has no ethernet ports. Any suggestions? 

I’ve googled this and they tell you to take your mobile device (andriod)  far enough away from the router/ modem to force it to 2.4ghz.  But still during setting up, the WYZE v3 cameras are replying that they cannot connect to the network.  Is there not a way to have this dual band router support my tablet/ phone, etc. at 5ghz and also recognize the cameras on the 2.4ghz band?I also googled this and there are videos to “blend” the 2 networks but I had no success.  It’s was over may pay grade lol.David G.

I am attempting to host a Space Engineers dedicated server to play with my friend. This application by default uses port 27016.Forwarding this port in my modem and using canyouseeme.org I am unable to get the port to report open even after using a variety of different fixes.5I am able to see my server in the LAN section of the server browser but it does not list in the public facing list as it should be if the port was open.I have disabled windows firewall/defender and also Malwarebytes while trying to sort this out.My ISP is xfinity and I already called them to see if there was something weird on their end but they said it is a modem or PC configuration issue.DMZ doesn't work either says my ports are still closed.I feel like I know what I am doing here normally and am very confused. Spent a good amount of time trying different solutions I have found online and have been unable to sort the issue.

Pretty simple:  Using the Surfboard app, showing internet speeds of 450 mbps but shows only 70 mbps on WiFi which is observed on connected devices.  I’m guessing it’s something very simple I’m missing.  Using spectrum.  At my home when I updated to new modem immediately WiFi went to 350 mbps. 

Hello, My SBG8300 is blinking both lights at the same time (fast blue on both) after a factory reset. My MediaCom technician checked everything and seems that my router is the issue.See the attached picture. Is there anything I can do, or is it the end of it?Thanks

I got the SBG8300 a few weeks ago and having some video lagging issues with my laptop. I’m paying for 400Mbps. The laptop has an Intel wireless-AC 9560 Channel Bandwidth of 160MHz on 5GHz. I did SpeedTest from about 30ft from the router. and get about 100Mbps. My iPhone gets 375Mbps from the same spot. I don’t know about the wireless on the iPhone but is this a fair comparison?Does the SBG8300 go to 160 or is 80MHz max?  Would it help if I had a 160MHz router?

I recently upgraded to the SBG8300 router. I have reconnected all my wifi devices for the exception of my Google Mini. It fails to connect via wifi. I have performed a hard reset to the mini, added both 2.4g and 5g as network options,, tried new google mini and spoken to tech support. It worked fine with my old router. I use it as the doorbell chime for my Nest front door camera. Google has no ideas and claims it’s the set up of my SBG8300. Arris tech support can’t find the answer either.

Hello.It seems that my modem is bricked. Everything was working until the connection dropped. One solid blue light appears for the power icon. Browser will not connect to 192.168.0.1 or alternatives. Tried 15s , 30-30-30 method to factory reset, doesn’t work. Power cycling multiple times does nothing as well.Can this be salvaged? Any help would be appreciated.
