SBG8300

Woke up this morning to the router only displaying the first “online” light. xfinity app fails to connect from the isp side, can’t resetswitched to different coax spot in case it failed at the wall, no change. wifi signal no longer emitted, can’t connect to router directlyCan’t connect via ethernet cable eitherpowering down for a minute and powering up, no changefactory reset (press pin for longer than ten seconds), no change. have I missed a troubleshooting step? 

SBG8300 first time activated with provider, no internet access. Sevice rep came to house checked all and says his part is all good. Still no internet. Why?

I can’t get my ring doorbell to work with my Arris SBG8300. It won’t connect at all to the network. I have tried to edit any of my router settings that seem like they might make a difference all to no avail. If anyone has a clue on how to resolve, would be much appreciated. 

i have configured port forwarding successfully in one instance, but have tried to open two ports needed for my NAS and have not had success despite following the instructions at https://arris.my.salesforce-sites.com/consumers/articles/General_FAQs/SBG8300-Port-Forwarding-Setupit’s not clear what the Service Type should be set to and i tried a couple different ones with no luck. .   any suggestions on what to try next?

Hello,  3 days ago around midnight, we lost everything with Cox, Cable, and the internet both went dead. The next day cable was back so we reset the SG8300 and the internet came back.  Now for the past 2 days, almost like clockwork, we lose the internet every 2 hours (but cable still works).  My wife works remotely & is kicked out of meetings, I’m taking college and it’s kicking me out of my classes.       We called Cox several times, and their only answers are to give them more money: They want me to a) pay ~$90 for a tech visit, b) start renting their modem for $13/mo, or c) increase my Cox “tier” an additional $10/mo so I can talk to someone besides the “is your modem plugged in?” person.  They are trying to tell me my SG8300 is “too old” because it’s 2 yrs old, but when the internet is working, everything checks out good.      What else can I try?

I have recently picked up an SBG8300 to replace a damaged SB8200.On that SB8200, I was able to host HTTPs services through the device and these services were available globally via my domain name pointed at my home IP.On this new device, that is no longer the case. I can confirm that the services are initiated properly and are able to be used at ‘localhost’, but I cannot reach them via the public address.Things I have tried:Creating a fixed IP for the hosting device internally Designated DMZ as the fixed IP of host device- no good, connections refused Created a makeshift DMZ through port forwarding ports 1-65535 int/ext and TCP/UDP for the host device- no good, connections refused Setting IPv4 and IPv6 firewalls to Custom - Firewall Disabled levels- no good, connections refusedWhen I try to reach the web page for the hosted service in question, I reach the “https:// Redirect” page for my service, which is clear

Lost power yesterday and now none of the devices that are running on 2.4GHz are connecting I can’t get them to connect and I can’t figure out how to connect them??

Why is my WiFi light flashing

SBG8300 is not showing up when Xfinity resources it. It online I can see it as a network but I cannot connect to Internet. I called Xfinity twice I reset and the connection resourced and restarted and all that jazz. It showed up on Arris website as active modem and on Xfinity but still can't use my Internet. Does anyone have any hints or ideas on how to get my internet working? Last time spoke with Xfinity they couldn't see it in there system.

Hello. My new Arris SBG8300 has WAN MAC and HFC MAC numbers but no CM MAC number. Xfinity wifi activation cannot continue without a CM MAC number. Any help?

When the SBG8300 Firewall IPv4 is set to Max my Win10 client cannot sync time using external NTP servers.  I can change to the Firewall to Typical and then syncing to external NTP servers works.  But I have also configured the SBG8300 Time Server and I am wondering how to point the Win10 client at the SBG8300 time server so that I can leave the firewall set to MAX?  Is there a local IP address related to the time server?

I worked with Xfinity to setup my new SBG8300 but can’t connect to internet.  Is that an Xfinity issue?  Thank you. 

Every time I go to play I have packet bust and packet loss that makes me rubberband while play warzone please help

This power adapter came from an earlier Arris gateway modem. Is it compatible with Arris SBG8300? 

My SBG8300 is generally reliable and provides close to the gigabit service I’m paying Xfinity for. However, on random occasions between 2 and 6 days, the WAN speed will suddenly plummet to what appears to be a few hundred (yes, hundred) baud. I can get intermittent pings to go through and sometimes even small chunks of http data, but that’s about it. Not even able to load a full web page before timeouts occur.Logging into the Arris web interface and selecting Restart is sufficient to correct the issue (as is a power cycle) - for a few days, until it happens again. It usually happens overnight - the WAN connection is fine when I go to bed but it’s often essentially nonexistent when I get up in the morning. Sometimes this is every couple days, sometimes it’s good for up to six days. I think once it may even have lasted for nearly two weeks, but that was unusual.There are no splitters or any other such devices between the modem and the feed from Xf

I have Xfinity Comcast cable internet service.  I am provisioned 1000 Mbps download / 20 Mbps Up.When I run speedtest either from Xfinity or speedtest.net, the test says I roughly get around 300MB download give or take. I had Xfinity come out because I didnt think I was getting the 1000 MBPS service.  They tested from the Coaxial cable prior to the cable modem a 1000 MBPS service with their meter equipment.  They tested coming from any of the LAN ports with their meter equipment and it shows getting 1000 MBPS service.  But for some reason when my ethernet cable is plugged into my PC or laptop from any of the cable modem LAN ports, I am getting approx 300 MB.  Xfinity even hooked up their laptop into one of the LAN ports and they also saw an approx 300 MB download speed too.Is the SBG8300 throttling down the internet speed when using the LAN Ports?  When I use the WIFI 2.5 and 5, my speeds are what they should be.  The 5 GHZ is showing

I have a GATEWAY.  I have not been able to open the page suggested in the manual.  I need to change the long password and user name.

I just replaced my xfinity wifi modem with the SBG8300. Contacted xfinity and they did all they could on their end. I ha e wifi but no internet connection. What do I need to do?

My SBG 8300 was working perfect. One day I did not have any service and the front panel was black, no lights. I unplugged the modem and repowered it on, only 5 quick flashes were seen, nothing else. does anyone have any ideas what is going on?

I currently have a SBG8300  and we purchased a TP-Link Deco XE75 AXE5400 to use in our new home.  I needed to extend the range of our WiFi to reach my detached garage.When Suddenlink/Optimum came to install the cable they told me that my Surfboard SBG8300 wouldn’t work with the TP-Link system.  I have read somewhere that I can use the SBG8300 as a modem only, but I’m wondering if there are other issues.  Should I just purchase a modem only?  Are there security issues with using the surfboard as a modem only?Any thoughts or suggestions are welcomed.

Xfinity is telling me my router needs updating because my speeds are slow. Where can I figure out how to do this?

I set up port forwarding for my AirTV and Camera security system. All works fine for a day or so and then stops working. I was rebooting my router to resolve this issue but found that simply turning port forwarding off and then back on solves the problem. It is kind of frustrating that I need to do this on a regular basis. Is this a know issue? Is there a fix on the way? Is there a work around? Any help would be appreciated.

I replaced a sbg8300 that was killed by a power surge a month ago with another sbg8300. I got it up and running, everything was working great. But for the last 2 days all of my devices suddenly lose connectivity to the wifi.When I try to reconnect, the password that was previously saved is gone. I type it in and receive a message saying that the password is incorrect. I know that I'm typing it correctly.I've connected to the router with my laptop via Ethernet cord and signed into the router settings and verified that not only is it the right password, but according to the router both networks are working.This keeps happening and I'm at a loss. My old sbg8300 didn't do this.

We have a SBG8300.  When logging into Cisco AnyConnect, It is saying “The VPN connection to the selected secure gateway requires a routable IPv4 physical adapter address.  Please move to an IPv4 network and retry the connection or select a different secure gateway.” Not sure if it matters, but this a government laptop. We have another home laptop that also logs into a VPN, but it is commercial company VPN, and with no issues. Suggestions?
