Wi-Fi Modems

I just got a new G18 Surfboard Wifi Modem but I am only getting 20 Mbs on speed tests when I am paying Optimum for 300 mbs. I have called their tech support and they are getting normal speeds on their end. They recommended I contact Arris support to optimize the modem settings. In addition to slow speeds, I am frequently needing to restart the modem because it stops providing internet. The light will still be solid blue but nothing connects on Wifi or Ethernet. I am looking for solutions.

My G36 WiFi speed is now half the speed as it was before. It is now 212Mas inbps and .07 Mbps upload. It was 408.51Mbps download and 90.42Mbps upload. Why has it changed so drastically? I have also noticed that this device would go offline on Saturday and would require a reboot as well as having to reboot often due to Wifi connectivity issues on both bands 5,4 and 2.4. Also, why do I have to go through a “community to get support and where do I get real support from this company? I am not seeing all the hype with this modem/brand.

I am attempting to access the "Operation" section of my Arris Surfboard SBG6950AC2. When I select the option and put in my credentials used in the “Configuration” I get a message that says: Invalid user name or password, or your access has been locked due to multiple failed login attempts!” How do I clear this issue?

I have a new Surboard G34 and am having to reboot the router 5 times a day or more. I constantly am getting a no internet warning. I am on Sparklight 1gb plane and the issue happens on both bands. When I contact Sparklight they send me through the re-boot hell and when the signal returns, all is well on their end and 20mims later, it drops again. All my devices retain WiFi connection, just not internet. I’m a complete network neophyte so please keep any suggestions grounded in English. LOL

Hello. Cablevision Optimum is directing me to you. I am hoping I don’t need a new modem since I recently bought an Arris Surfbiard. Today I requested that Optimum increase my Internet speed to 300 MBPS, which they did and will start charging me for it. But the speed test does not show 300 Mbps for the download which it should, according to Optimum. They said my speed is fine on their end and directed me to the modem manufacturer. When I went on your website, I don’t see the product number of the modem that I bought. I’m trying to determine if I have to get a new modem or not. This is the p/n: SBG00DAY20RT. is this compatible? According to the optimum site I can use a DOCSIS certified DOCSIS 3.1 modem for all speeds.thank you for any guidance

So I just installed this G18 router/modem, and while I can see all the devices connected to my home Wi-Fi when I log in through the web interface, I cannot see them on the Surfboard Central app. The only device I can see is my TV which is connected by ethernet directly to the G18. I want to be able to put content restrictions/filters on my kids devices that are connected, but I am unable to do so because the app does not see them. Setting key words to filter out does not appear to be working through the web interface, so I really need the app to work. Please help! What am I missing?

The web admin panel warns “To keep your account password in sync, it is recommended to update it using the SURFboard App rather than changing it here.” How do i change the admin password from the app? I looked absolutely everywhere and the option is nowhere. I changed wifi names and passwords and settings from the web interface, nothing synced to the app, now i’m locked out at the app. The app doesnt let you change the admin password, and the web interface syncs nothing to the app, what do i do?

When I was setting up my router on my mobile phone, I was given a “device password”. I will not be able to memorize that password and want to change it. It is not really safe to write it down and keep it on a note. How can I change it? I’m not even really sure what it is for! My mobile? It’s not for my Surfboard, I changed that name and password, so what exactly is it for and how do I change it to something I don’t need to write down/can’t memorize?

I purchased this router from Walmart in September 2023. Only the power light is on; no Wi-Fi or internet connectivity. I’ve tried restarting and factory resetting the device, but the issue persists. I don’t have the printed receipt, but I’ve attached a screenshot of my credit card transaction from that time as proof of purchase. Please let me know if this is sufficient for a warranty replacement.

Recently changed out my modem/router setup from the provider supplied (spectrum) to a G54. I had some issues with smart devices and had to split the bands for connectivity. Now though I’m having issues I did not previously have with my provider. Online games are choppy and sporadic and even scrolling instagram it will just not load. My question is, are there particular settings that could be affecting this? Router is probably 15 feet from Xbox that is having streaming issues. I never had these issues with the one from my internet provider

Keep losing internet but stays connected to tower. My internet provider showed Arris's issue and loaned me their equipment. Got warranty replacement from Arris SAME ISSUE! Phone support is not answering 7:30 Pm CST, when try chat keeps saying sn is incorrect and I am typing from the sticker on bottom. WTH?

Modem SBG10. I’m resetting my Vizio TV and need password. Do I use WiFi key? I’ve tried to but keeps saying it’s invalid

I am trying to get new xFinity service using a new DOCSIS 3.1 Arris G36 gateway. The activation process with the xFinity app stalls and eventually times out at the ‘testing connections’. In the modem WAN status, all phases prior to ‘Registration’ are marked ‘Complete’ with Registration usually marked ‘Not Started’. Of particular note, the phase immediately prior to registration, ‘Configuration’ is marked ‘Complete’. In the Event log, I see the following (actual MAC addresses redacted): Config File Rejected due to invalid or Unexpected TLV 4; CM-MAC=*; CMTS-MAC=*; CM-QOS=1.1; CM-VER=3.1 A cursory look for ‘TLV 4’ information suggests this is the part of the configuration where the service provider (xFinity) declares the service level for the connection, in my own words ‘Speeds and quality of service’. I have an Arris router modem combo model G34. I bought a Netgear AC1200 Dual Band Wifi Range Extender model ex6120. I cannot get the extender to connect to my router. After spending an hour on the phone with Netgear they recommended I call you to see if Arris "blocks extension networks?" Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

What is WAN ‘registration’ in Arris G36 parlance when establishing a DOCSIS connection? Using xFinity’s app, I had partial success activating a new G36 at a new service address. In looking at the WAN status, I have QAM both up and down, and the various categories of activation all say ‘Complete’ except the final ‘Registration’ item which has displayed a couple different statuses depending on when I look. The xFinity app’s progress always hangs and times out at ‘checking connections”. Further, I wonder if this relates to me closing all the WAN side ports before I ever plugged the thing into xFinity. Clearly xFinity won’t get no satisfaction if they are trying to ping the router from outside, but its fuzzy how that would result in the router itself never achieving ‘registration’. TBH, I don’t even know what some of those other ports that default to open are used for, but I wanted to do what I could to prevent xFinity from forcing a firmware update that I cannot live with and cannot rever

I am adding a VoIP phone and having trouble connecting by Wi-Fi or Ethernet. The phone service provider gave me the following instructions, but I don’t see an address to log into. Where do I log in and are the instructions correct? The modem is an Arris 3635. Just to follow up regarding connecting your VoIP phone. To rule out anything something else, please log into your router. To do that, take a look at the back of your router and it should have the login web address, the username and the password. Once you have logged in, look for a tab labeled Advanced, NAT or Firewall. Then look for SIP- ALG and/or SIP Helper. Once you find it, disable it and make sure you click SAVE/APPLY. Then reboot your router and your Yealink phone. If after a reboot, the phone is still not registering and it is displaying NO SERVICE, I would recommend that you call SparkLite customer service and advise them you need to disable SIP-ALG so you "can use a VoIP phone — it’s blocking SIP registration."

I have tried a number of times to register a new G20 SBG00DAY20RT using the SN on the back of the device. When I do, I get an error message on the webpage that reads “The Serial Number and Model Number that you entered do not match. Please verify and re-enter this information again. In case of any difficulty, please call consumer support.” I called and left my phone number and other info.

Hi folks! Need a little guidance. I recently changed over to using an Arris SBG7400AC2. My ISP (Xfinity) kept bugging me that I needed a newer modem (even though I had noticed no issues or changes using my previous one) and the SBG7400AC2 was on their list of supported devices, so I picked one up and have been using it for about a week. The wifi speeds and connection strength are just fine, but several times a day the wifi signal cuts out completely. It pops back on quickly, within like 5-10 seconds, but it does drop fully for long enough to do things like interrupt my VPN when working from home, drop from the lobby if playing a game, lose voice chat connection, etc. I only connect to the internet via wifi as the place I live is not setup for reasonable wired connections, and the wifi has always been plenty sufficient for my needs! Wondering what I can do to stop those intermittent losses of signal.

I recently installed G20 Docsis 3.1 Wi-Fi Cable Modem. Phones, laptop, TV are successfully connected. However, the Surfboard Central app does not have the G20 as a selection choice. I have reinstalled the app, still nothing see other Arris devices not the G20. I reviewed the forum and see this can be an issue with the app and the G20. Please advise. Do not really want to connect to the modem using IP address and would like to be able to get to it through an app.

i contacted comcast.net over five times but still dropped and intermittent wifi and slow nowhere close to 800mps which i pay extra

On G36, I have configured my ‘Primary’ subnet’s DHCP server to a pool of 192.168.0.0/24 IPv4 addresses and added IP reservations. Where in the web GUI do I configure the ‘Secondary’ (192.168.26.0/24) and ‘Guest’ (192.168.28.0/24) subnets’ DHCP for IPv4 address pool and IP reservations? Is that configuration only accessible by logging in through 192.168.26.1 and 192.169.28.1 respectively? Is logging in through those addresses even a thing? Please note this is not a question about WAN-side (ISP-side) DHCP; its about the router’s built-in DHCP server(s) for LAN-side IPv4 addresses. [

I just purchased and installed a brand new G36 wifi cable modem. It intermittently but frequently drops the internet, both on wired and wireless connections, across a variety of devices. Every 7-8 minutes it drops the internet and then remains without internet for about 1.5-2 minutes before reconnecting. I have gone through the following support pages for a fix, tried every potential solution or spec check listed, and nothing has worked: One Two Three I have also read through others' similar posts on here and tried several other suggestions. Again, to no avail. The modem is elevated and out in the open, right next to my smart TV (one of the devices connected and dropping, both wired or wireless). All my cables and cords are relativly new, free of kinks or other issues, and hand tight. The signal levels are within range. This was one of 3 devices listed by my service provider (Xfinity/Comcast) that is compatible with my service plan. My download speed is up to 1100mbps and upload speed

How does one get a replacement if the warranty information, once confirmed, is now not being confirmed ? I have a screen shot of the confirmation from previous input.
