G34 | G36

I just bought an Arris G34 cable modem, but my internet plan is only up to 300 mps.  Can I still use this modem or is it not compatible with my internet speed/plan?

I’m having an issue with my “other devices” … that operate on 2.4-Ghz.  I purchased a WiFi repeater to enhance radio signals and nothing works. My Gateway Software isn’t there? G36 does not have WPS button

I have tried entering the security key and manually entering the SSID for 2.5Ghz and 5Ghz. I know this area is highly trafficked internet wise which is causing connectivity issues on other devices, but my Xbox just will not connect.

I just purchased a new g34. I amunable to connect the device to the internet. I see the g34 on my iPhone settings and Xfinity says they see the g34. However, my settings and Xfinity both say it is not connected to internet. How do I move forward?

How can I run a 2.5k setting on my guest network to hook up my home security cameras and keep the main setting at 5k on my G36?

When me and my roommate got our internet setup for the G34 on of the setup in the app requires your to make an account, in this process there was never a password asked to be setup, when this happened we couldn’t continue to login in to our router through the IP web address. Does anyone know how to maybe press a forgot password or outright change it or does anyone  know what this password may be? We’ve already tried the router password and other passwords we could’ve used but didn’t and even just tried not using one nothing works.

I have Astound broadband with G36 modem. Issue is happening daily … Internet shows up to provider but no internet access. Logs show an DHCPv6 provision retry issue and I have to reboot the G36 to restore connectivity. I asked for a firmware update from Astound but they said they do not have one from Arris. Is there a fix or do I need to replace the box?

I purchased an arris surfboard g34 and had it set up and activated through Spectrum.  I can't get the internet to connect. The message I get is connected but without internet on both lines. I called Spectrum and they said the modem is up and running fine on their end so they told me to contact you because perhaps the router is not connecting. Please help

G34 has no internet and flashs blue.

My old Arris surfboard router/modem combo died and so I replaced it with the G34.  With my old Arris surfboard I had my laptop setup with the windows DLNA media to share media files with my Samsung TV's in my house.  Worked almost flawless in discovering the DLNA and playing videos.  I activated my G34 via Xfinity and it’s been almost nothing but problems I've had to work through.  I can connect to the internet and have eventually connected to smart lights and other discoverable items but the biggest issue is that my TV's no longer find the DLNA server to stream videos to my TV.  It has to be a setting on the G34 somewhere but I don’t know what to change.  Does it have something to do with IpV6 vs IpV4 or the UPnP?  My firewall is off and everything is set up correctly on my laptop to share files.

Only way to get internet back is to unplug and plug the power to the modem. This is getting ridiculous because there are some days I have to do this 5-6 times especially with my wife working from home. Anyone else having this issue. I hope I don’t have to replace this modem already. 

How to change WiFi password

My Arris G34 has developed a problem where every 20 minutes or so I will no longer have internet access but the modem is still connected to the network. I am able to log into my ISP’s website using my cellphone’s mobile data to initiate a reboot of the device and after several minutes I will regain my internet connection. This problem is simultaneously occurring on both my PC which has a wired connection and phone which is connected through Wi-Fi. Looking at other similar posts, I see where it was recommended that I check the cable signal levels 3 times and provide information about my plan through my ISP. I am attaching all relevant information. My ISP is Cox.First data set:

when i logged in before, it wanted the default “admin/password” combo. but now:1: it redirects to a screen saying “please log in first”2: it now wants an email that i used to set up the device. i was never prompted to make an email, so i have no email to use, save for the one i just made for this community post. (tried it any way, obviously didnt work)[[correction. i have an email, but no password and don’t know where to recover it. the app says a reset is needed, but then why the email?]]i would reset it, but simple resets tend to break things with me (i.e. im on my 6th re-install of windows) and would rather have that be a last resort.the android app does not connect either, whether by scanning the QR code, or wifi info, etc. i even turned off my VPN to be sure, and my desktop has an ethernet connection where i also turned off my VPNside question: is there a desktop app for the G34? i had a similar problem with an old netgear 2-in-1 i used

Just hooked up my new G34, connected to the internet and it worked perfect….for about 6 hours, then shut down. I unplugged it and waited about 5 minutes, plugged it back in. Nothing. Unplugged again and waited 10 minutes, meanwhile called my service provider to see if there was an outage in the area. No. Plugged back in and red light, then flashing lights, then flashing blue light, then blue light and I was connected. Now I’m not impressed if it only lasts 6 hours and has to be rebooted. I need it replaced as I work from home and getting dropped while logged into my team is not a good thing. Downtime costs me money. I’m thinking of buying something else and returning. It didn’t even come with a manual, so I have no idea what all the lights meant! so frustrated.  Suggestions or ideas are welcome...please?

How can I change the password from a string of numbers to something easier for me to remember? I have just plugged in a new G34-80A5-5G

I’ve had a Mesh system for three years.   One of my routers shorted out and am wondering if it is wise to just buy another Mesh Router for $170 or the G34 for $180 which would replace everything however I still have one additional working router and the arris modem from my original mesh purpose.    My main concern is I get great coverage with the Mesh in my 2 story house which is around 4000 sq ft.     Is the G34 reliable enough for proper coverage as well?   Thanks 

My new arris modem will not allow my hp photosmart printer to connect. My printer test result says I need to add the MAC address to the list if permitted devices for the wireless router.  I did this repeatedly and it still will not connect.  The printer identifies the network name, but refuses to accept the password.  Help!

My G34, I purchased in Feb, has been terrible since April 2024 with Xfinity internet service. Constantly dropping signal for hours and slow download speeds, day and night. Had Xfinity tech put in their modem 7 days ago and issue was resolved. I defaulted my G34 and tried to re-install yesterday but no gateway connectivity at all now? Checked the community chats and there is a lot of issues with the G34 / G36 modems with Xfinity. Not happy as modem was around $ 200.00 on Amazon. Xfinity and Arris need to update their compatibility list as this is ridiculous. 

Replaced problem Motorola cable modem/router with G34 and was able to set it up ok. But when accessing the internet or even connecting to the router through the computer all connections or changing pages seem to hang for several seconds before connecting. Speeds seem ok then until changing websites or selecting an item in the router settings. I never had this issue before. Even connecting to my media server through the network seems to hang for several seconds.

I have set up my Arris G34 modem.  The 5G is working perfectly fine on my phone and laptop.  My Amazon link cameras Sync Module needs to access the 2.4Ghz to operate, but doesn’t recognize the password.  Can I establish a separate password for the 2.4?  If so, how? Thanks, Lisa

This G36 is the worse modem I have ever owned. I’ve had it less than a week and it’s been nothing but issues. I want to go back to my old modem and router. ALL solutions for issues with the G36 seem to require complete reset of the modem/router and starting all over again. The mobile app is a steaming pile of junk. I can’t access the modem through my browser because it won’t accept my email login. Sorry but it’s my ONLY email. The solution is to reset everything and start over.
