I purchased my SB6121 from an authorized retailer (Staples).  Recently while talking to my internet provider (Comcast), they claimed that it needed a firmware upgrade and asked me if I would allow them to do it.  They did not tell me at the time that they would be stealing control of my personally owned hardware from me.  After installing the firmware upgrade, they proceeded to tell me that there is a problem with the hardware and tried to sell me their modem.  When I log into my modem (at IP 192.168.100.1), there is no longer a “Reset All Defaults” button.  This is unacceptable and I want control of my hardware back.Is there a way I (or you) can roll back the hacked firmware they installed and return control of my hardware to me? 

How do I find the correct network name and password 

I have xfinity and they stated there's nothing they can do on there end. Lights as follows and are all solidWhite - powerRecieve - greenSend - greenOnline - white It's a refurbished model, so im not sure if the mac address is linked to another account or if its defective. Didn't try connecting a laptop because online light isn't showing internet coming through. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I have an S33 that started failing and is barely a year old. It’s ridiculously hot, especially the coaxial and eventually shuts down. Right before it started turning off it would just cut the internet in and out. I have tried contact support multiple times and the one time I was able to get someone in the chat they told me I would be contacted via email or call. Never got the call. Never got the email. And since it is now the weekend they have no support. I want a refund for this modem. Can any moderators help me get into touch with someone to further this process? I’m really disappointed with this seeing as I used to really like the Arris products. 

I had an older model SB 8200 , and it worked perfectly for a year, then started to constantly reboot at random. I purchased a brand new SB 8200 v3 , installed it, it works great, except that it randomly reboots too! It just resets, which drops the internet, and then boots back up and the internet comes again. This is problematic for someone working from home who loses link at random, even though it reboots pretty quickly. Why does my SB 8200 just re-set for no reason. It is brand new! 

Got a new modem. I can not get docsis3.1. isp did lots of checks and said I'm not receiving all the channels. Tried reset many times, tried factory reset. Contacting Arris is IMPOSSIABLE since they can't validate my serial number on my NEW modem. Should I take it back and try another brand? If yes, who makes a good cable modem...thanks.

I purchased the modem from Best Buy because my modem was acting strangely. I did not get a chance to install the modem until after the bus by return policy expired. Best Buy recommended me reaching out to you about getting a refund because they were unable to refund or replace the modem. Please contact me at (Edited personal information). If you need to discuss this or please reply to this request and I will follow the steps that you provide. Best Buy told me that you would reimburse or replace the modem due to their return policy. The modem is an SB 8200 and was purchased on January 4, 2025 or $169 plus tax from Best Buy and wyomissing PA store number 580

My Arris Sb8200 cable modem doesn’t provide internet to my WiFi modem even after setting it up and activating my router with spectrum. i have bought brand new Ethernet cords and they work fine but for some reason when I connect my sb8200 to my wifi router, the internet globe light turns red on the wifi router when I connect it to my cable modem but when I connect my pc to the cable modem, I can get on the internet with my pc. To top it all off, my sb8200 keeps refusing to connect to the admin page for the cable modem!   please help!

I have just switched Internet, TV and Phone to Infinity from Verizon (also wireless but that it not relevant here). The Xfinity service team installed its proprietary modem-router into which they plugged my telephone cord into the back of the modem-router.  The phone works fine as do the modem and router.I would like to buy a modem-router rather than rent the one that I have received dfrom Xfinity.  But I want to be certain to buy the right modem-router -- one into which my voice telephone can also be plugged so that it also works. I would be most grateful for recommendations of the right model modem-router with voice phone plug for my application. If you need more information to respond, please let me know what I have left out. Many thanks. Peter

I am using the default 2.4G SSID and password.  How do I change them to my desired WiFi name and password?

Got a brand new S34 from Amazon (sold by Amazon, not some third-party seller), which has now died just over a month after plugging it in, but the website shows “We were unable to locate your serial number. Please check your model number and serial number and try again. This information can be found on the label in back or on the bottom of your device.”, despite copy+pasting the serial from Cox.com/the modem’s admin page.

My S33 modem has a solid light green light, and the back LEDs show green and amber for the 1.0 GE port and nothing for the 2.5 GE port (which is the port I was using). I've tried to connect the ethernet cable and go to 192.168.100.1 but it won't load. Yes, I have unplugged and plugged it back in. Any advice? Still under warranty for another year. Also, makes a high pitch noise.

I’m trying to reset an Arris SB8200 modem to factory default.  I pressed the reset button for 12 seconds and then tried to login with admin/password and admin/last 8 digits of serial number.  Neither method worked.  I reset again, but still no luck to login to the Arris admin page. Any Suggestons?

I recently purchased the Arris SB8200. All the lights are green. Everything is working. I have Xfinity and shows it is  connected. But I am still unable to access the internet. Here is my question. I have an old Cisco linksys e2500 router. Is this compatible? All the lights are green and working on the router. Feeling frustrated as my thernet shows not connected even thou it is. I restarted both modem and router. All cables are plugged in and working. Lights are on but sadly no blue light the Arris SB8200. 

I have been banging my brain out trying to get my Linksys MR20EC router to access the SB8200 modem's webinterface. Every thing I have tried based on available information on the web did not work. And I mean everything.This method does not require you to touch your primary router, you know, the one that will not allow you to view your modem's webinterface. All this was tested with two older router/AP boxes and it works.This is specifically for the Arris SB8200 which has two ethernet ports. If you modem only has one, sorry, I can't help you.Here is a solution that does work. You will need another router, or a wifi extender that can work in AP (access point) mode. The SB8200 has two ethernet ports,you will connect the second router/AP to the open port. Please read this through twice so you have a mental picture of what you are doing.Configure the spare router or wifi extender (in AP mode).IP Address:192.168.100.2 Mask (

Hope there are users who can help gather information so that we can get routers that work. When I say “work”, this is irt accessing the 192.168.100.1 webinterface of the SB8200 Cable Modem through the router. WorkingLinksys EA6900 Not workingLinksys MR2000 (MR20EC)  Ver. 1.1.5.210166 So please list your router/SB8200 combination and state “working” or “not working” wrt accessing the SB8200 webinterface through the router (not a direct connect to the SB8200). Thanks

Modem has been working well, today though I cannot connect to the internet. Power icon is green, the second is flashing green, the other 2 are dark. Have rebooted multiple times, no change. Wondering what else I can do. 

The title says it all, after a week of back and forth, high-level Optimum tech support is telling me their system cannot activate my brand new Arris S33v3 cable modem. No explanation, no assurances of they’re working on it, just simply I can’t use it to connect to my internet service with them. So sorry, goodbye.   

My 8200 is compatible.  I had the Xfinity Comcast’s guy add it.  It is beans new.  It just resets for no reason. It’s not a compatibility issue. 

Have tried everything, but can’t get 192.168.100.1 to load in a web browser, therefore can’t access modem settings that way.  How can I change default password?  Is there a way through the Surfboard Central app?

Pretty much the title. Have had the modem for many years. Got a new router and went to set that one up. I unplugged the power from the modem and then plugged in the Ethernet for the router. After the I plugged the power cable back in, the only light on is the green power light.

Hello! My S33 modem just up and quit after about a year. When I rebooted it, solid Amber then blinking green for several times then no light. I’ve tried many times but it’s always the same. No xfinity outages in the area. Any ideas?  

Why is my S34 on Astound (Wave Broadband) displaying as Advanced Stream ISP in the Surfboard app?Also, download speeds are well below my plan speeds and much slower than my old Surfboard SB6190 that I just replaced. 

Hello, nice to meet you. My SB8200 modem stopped working. I got home from work and when I looked up, I had no internet access and the modem's lights were off. I just bought it on January 30th.

My husband reset the router to factory settings which is a TP link one and now our modem won’t work and our internet won’t connect. We have no WiFi connection through our internet service and Cox said we need the information from this modem provider
